You really do have a problem with people who didn’t keep their money in the club like you , don’t you ?
Not at all, I just think that somebody who did should be prioritised, that’s all.

Well you have been prioritised. I have an issue with you calling long standing season ticket holders who haven’t been prioritised like you , potential season ticket holders .

Anybody who hasn’t purchased a season ticket yet is a potential season ticket holder, surely?? I’m sure that many will purchase one but until they do they are clearly not a season ticket holder.

So you say, I just think your comments are arsey and unnecessary in the circumstances
I realise you are expressing your opinion but having read it you wouldn’t be someone I’d ask for an opinion

So just to clarify, can you confirm that if on 1st April 2019 you had been told that your seat for 2019-20 had been given to someone who paid in full in March, you would have been quite happy with that? On the grounds that they were season ticket holders for 2019-20, and you were only a potential season ticket holder?

There are many long term season ticket holders who have paid up front every year for a lot of years.

They had the option taken away from them last year late in the sales process and weren't given a window to renew.

I'd like you to confirm where they sit in your season ticket hierarchy.

It wouldn’t have made any difference to me because I always commit as soon as is possible, whether that be up front or by dd, HOWEVER, you make a very good point. As I’ve said all along, this is a sh1t situation which has been handled very badly by the club.

I think somebody suggested that phase 2 could have been given a week or two to commit before displaced phase 1ers could take their seat. On reflection that would seem to be a better solution, the phase 2ers who were committed to renewing their season tickets would do so in a very short window of time and the displaced 1ers could take the seats of the waverers.

And initially Phase 2 was only supposed to be for 1 week, 17th to 23rd May.

Fair enough in that case, I concede. A very short window should be offered to phase 2 before allowing phase 1 to take their seats.

The club needs a rocket up the arse at the moment in regards ticketing and the communication with it, unfortunately the only time they'll feel it is if we are relegated,.

Championship football is when they need the fans more than ever, I hope it's a long way off but the rocket will come when they turn to the fans and request help and some people will have very long memories on this subject.

There is no need to put loyal and long term supporters into two groups, it doesn't fit at all with the 'one club' mantra.

They should stand by the promise that all phase ones should keep their seats but that isn’t happening either. Phase 1 and 2 are different, clearly, one group have paid and committed to next season, the other group haven’t. Phase 2 aren’t season ticket holders, they are potential season ticket holders. I’m not sure if you’re on the wind up or not by saying that both groups are the same??
Why would I be on the wind up?

There is a fundamental difference between someone losing a seat due to redevelopment and someone who acted in good faith within the rules set out by the club only for the club to allow someone else to take their seat.....under your logic I should still be able to stand in my same spot on the Longside.

In respect of them being potential season ticket holders, that’s only the case because they’ve not been allowed to buy a ticket.

No one could of predicted that we was going to go into lockdown the ticket office would shut and suspend sales before the deadline ended . And it should not matter how you pay are what day you renew as long as it was before the deadline. Which was cut short due to lockdown, which isn’t the sth fault that they didn’t get a chance to renew . And then weren’t given another window to renew, and then to lose your seats because of it then it’s really poor management by the club. In hindsight if sth knew what was going to happen , then they would have renewed before lockdown.

Exactly, and anyone with any sense would have done that, but someone somewhere decided to allow 132 fans who had to give up their seats, the opportunity to choose someone else's seat and that's all wrong, and as said before its very poor on the behalf of Burnley Football Club, very poor.

Exactly, up till last season people in phase 2 had always paid up front which has to be better for the club than those paying over say 10 months
It's over 12 months usually but I can assure you the club didn't think it was better for people to pay up front, in fact just the opposite. Like most other companies you deal with - such as utility companies - they prefer you to pay by direct debit.

It does not matter how you pay, up front or by direct debit, we should all be treated the same, and without going over old ground, what Burnley Football Club have done to a few supporters is shocking, and need not have happened.

I couldn't agree more, I was just commenting on how the club viewed the DD and pay up front fans in terms of what was the best from the club's point of view.

I won't argue with you Tony because your always right, but given the chance to have money up front over 12 payments i know which id choose.

If a lot of businesses were not payed on or around completion they wouldn't last, but this is not about how a business or how a person pays their utility bills, its how we support a football club financially as supporters, and as i said before be it up front or over 12 months, we should all be treated the same, i have sat in the JHL since day one and have always had the same seat and paid up front every season, but now its been taken from me, supporting Burnley Football Club costs me over 4k per year and has done for many years, as i sit here now i no longer have a seat, and having followed Burnley for over 50 years, i currently find no loyalty from the club at all.

Not disagreeing with any of that. I was just wondering whether you would prefer your annual salary paid up front at the beginning of the year which you’ve answered. I reckon the majority would prefer to be paid monthly, but that’s just a guess. Just responding to your comment about it being preferable to have the money up front, which isn’t always the case.

We were told in meetings by the club that in a perfect world everyone would pay by direct debit. It means there are no renewals. There was even a suggestion at one point that there might be a discount for those who pay by direct debit.

And there’s no need for the unnecessary offensive remark either although my ‘what’ is always right?

Possibly the Club and other businesses prefer monthly payments, as it may be easier to retain fans/customers who at the end of a season/contract just carry on paying either the same or similar monthly payment, rather than having to find a lump sum one-off payment.

At the end of the day we all have our own opinion of what's gone on at Burnley Football Club and what a mess they have made of the situation, but what we write or say on here i very much doubt will help me to get my seat back.

Not one that i wish to take up at present, i may as well wait till June 15th and see what's available then to be honest, it could be a seat doesn't get claimed by a phase 2 person, and much closer to my original seat, i don't have anything to lose to be honest as most seat now in the JHL are in the wings.

Yes, I think that that may be your best course of action, as I'm fairly sure that not all Phase 2 people will renew and that will definitely be the case if the Club don't offer some form of Direct Debit option.

Car insurance is cheaper paid up front, as is house insurance, the companies offering plumbing protection etc are also cheaper if you pay it all up front.
Gas and electricity like DD because the amount can be changed easily if consumption changes, but most fixed price products are cheaper paid in full.

I have not had time to read this thread but i just want to say having been a critic of the ticket office in recent times. I have just got off the phone to a very helpful chap called Dane who answered any questions i had and sorted me out so thank you for that Dane it is appreciated. I am commenting because i did ask if the direct debit option would be available again this season and there is the potential for the club to ask supporters for season ticket money in full this season with a view to continuing the DD option next season. I just thought i would put it in here in case it hasn't been mentioned to save any surprises if supporters are asked at the last minute.

Ganhisflipflop, don't keep me in suspense any longer.
What was Dane's answer?

The Supporters' Groups have been asking this question of the Club for weeks now but still no response. We appreciate that until the Club know exactly just how many fans will be allowed on, they're not in a position to accept payments for Phase 2 renewals and, therefore, until this is sorted they can't give full details of a DD option (ie they can't determine as to just how many months they could spread payments over). However, quite a few fans have stated that without some kind of DD option they won't be in a position to renew, so even just an indication from the Club that there will be some form of DD option available would at least put their minds at rest.

I’m still a bit unsure!! I didn’t renew my season ticket for last season but would like to buy one for next season (ideally in the seat I’ve had for the last 10+ years). When can I contact the club to buy one?

Sorry 2 bee holed if my post wasn’t clear, what he was saying is that there is no guarantee that there will be a direct debit option this season. The club are set for a big backlash if they suddenly turn around and request money in full the month the season starts. Just a simple communication that you may be required to pay in full would be the very least they should do.

Surely if the past few months have taught us anything it is that the club are wise to not make any commitments they’re unsure that they can deliver. As the attendance situation for next season is still in the air the club are right to point out that they can not guarantee a DD payment option. Although I’m sure they’ll do everything they can to make that option available as it’s in everybody’s best interests.

You have a lot more faith in them than I and many others have.

Opened up two weeks ago but you can only place a refundable deposit for now until the club know how many will be able to go into the ground.

Maybe, I just think the club will want to offer a DD option as it's in their benefit as well as the supporters'.

Hope that you're correct! Otherwise quite a few fans unfortunately won't be in a position to renew.

Obviously they won't be able to offer the usual 12 x months payment option but a 8, 6 or even just 4 payments option would be helpful to many fans.

And if the Covid situation doesn't allow normal attendance numbers from the start of the season, I think that that will unfortunately have a significant detrimental effect on our future ST numbers/attendances.

I just hope that the club appreciates that asking fans to cough up the best part of half a months wages without any notice is entirely unrealistic and will be detrimental to sales/renewals. As you say, an instalment option of even 4 months would be a better option. I’ve paid the tenner, as I wanted to secure my seat but I won’t be paying in full in one instalment.

I am a phase 2 supporter, and I understand the club's cautionary approach to us.
However, what I am intrigued about is how the club are certain that they can admit the
10,000 phase 1 supporters.
