Which suggests to me that we're looking to secure a new centre back early in the transfer window, in case (or in expectation?) JT goes elsewhere.
Hope so also if we can get a new CB through the door before we sell Tarks that might stop us being held to ransom because we happen to have a fair sum of money burning a hole in our pocket due to the sale of Tarks.

This is all just rumours at present of course, but it is pleasantly surprising that we're actually making moves this early in the window, and it's also hopefully a sign of a busy summer, because we certainly need a few in's as well as some out's.

And even if we do recruit either Worrall or someone else, and Tarks decides to stay that is no bad thing in my view, we'd then at least have adequate cover in the event of either Mee or Tarks being out which most certainly hasn't been the case for several matches this season, and it's been borne out by the poor results when one of our mainstays hasn't been available, and this is definitely a major hole which we need to plug if we can.

Don't ask Wayne Bridge where JT has been.

“Reliable” Twitter rumours that Tarky has agreed personal terms at Leicester - only the fee to sort and he’s off.

Maybe I’m being naive, but surely the fee with the club should be agreed before the players personal terms?

Looking pretty likely we have seen Tarks play his last game for us.

He was a monster for us at times.

Let’s hope we adequately replace him.

Over to you Mr Rigg - or maybe not

Over to you Mr Hodge

Somebody needs to be seen to actually earn their salaries

Which Twitter feeds are these?

All well and good saying they are reliable but a bit pointless unless you know who they are.

I believe the original update came from Sam Martin.

Leicester’s version of Clarettony

He’s been pretty spot on about Leicester transfers in the past. Most recently chilwell and Underz

The club agreed a fee that they would let him leave at last summer. It’s clear he was on the move last summer until Dyche stepped in and made it a personal, he goes, I walk situation.

I get that, but that was last year
If you was Leicester, would you still want to pay the same amount for a player 1yr older with only a year left on contract, without at least trying to pay less?

I’m fully expecting him to leave this year.
If he doesn’t, fantastic. The league money we’d get for surviving another season would outweigh the fee we’d get for him, especially with the cut Brentford would get and the cost of replacing him.
If we can get somebody in this year happy to wait whilst he’s here, like Tarky himself did with Keane, then even better

Top clubs pay the going rate for their targets. They don't like missing out on them.

We don't have the financial power to do so which is why we miss out on so many.

"reliable" in quotes for a reason. The post I read is here...

https://twitter.com/SmuelMartinFPL/stat ... 8744563713

and the person posting is here...

https://twitter.com/SmuelMartinFPL

Now I'm not suggesting this is accurate at all, hence the quotes around "reliable", however it appears he does know what is happening at Leicester and as other above have said, he's the equivalent of CT for them, so make of that what you want. It is certainly more "reliable" than @DaveTheLCFCFan (made up account name) who is akin to our @BFCNutterFan (again made up account), but not as "reliable" as @LECEISTERCITY, the official account for LCFC.

I thought some would be interested in the reported development overnight, hence the post.

He may have a decent number of followers but by saying Leicester have agreed terms with a Burnley player isn't really saying much.

We haven't got a player at the club they couldn't agree terms with.

Why didn't you just post the tweet in the first place, rather than saying "reliable" sources?

I think if he is leaving then it will be Leicester and I suspect quite soon (I reported renewed interest in him several days-now that I am amongst Foxes fans). Its no coincidence that any links we have at present are primarily centre-halves-essential for pre season to have this sorted). If its happening lets not leave it to the day before the PL kicks off

Pass on info or just repeat unsubstantiated rumours?

Some people can't resist it.

Speaking of which, where is DanielJWaterhouse when you need him? Fount of all knowledge during the club takeover, some people on here used to hang on his every word. Did he ever get anything correct?

Some people do get an inner glow by trying to give the impression that they have "inside information".
When challenged about the source they then become defensive and sometimes quote other rumours to try and justify their rumours! 😉

Insider information doesn't mean it's 100% correct as things change very quickly in football. It was correct at the time you were told.

Just look at how many player signing reports CT has written, but had to scrap.

I think he’s off. He’s been fantastic for us and deserves to step up. I trust SD to bring in a quality replacement. He knows his stuff when it comes to signing centre halves.

From all accounts he is a very reliable source. Our version of CT, I assume we will see an incoming Cb before he leaves.

It’s hardly breaking news, let’s be honest most of us expected Tark to leave, he’s been superb for us and it’s a sad day if he does leave but BFC will go on. Could certainly see Nat Phillips coming in as his replacement, which personally don’t see as a bad replacement.
Just wonder what the fee for Tarks will be, will we ever find out as I fully expect it to be “undisclosed”. Maybe even a player coming this way to reduce the % payable to Brentford.

I reported the "rumour" earlier this week, as I reside in Leics now. The muted fee I was given was circa £25m-that might of course include add-ons

Everyone is talking about Phillips of Liverpool joining. I think he is too useful to let go, at least until Gomez, Van Dyke etc have proved their fitness. Maybe the option is Ben Davies who they bought from Preston as a back up plan. and never going to play once Liverpool get their key players back. I think he is 24/25 and played 150 games for PNE. Maybe someone who could step in fairly quickly. He was at the time linked to Leicester. For Liverpook to have bought him, he must have good qualities

I think you are right about Phillips, I don't think Liverpool will want to let him go permanently, he might go out on loan though. I had forgotten that they brought in Davies from Preston so that could be a good shout. To be honest I haven't seen him play much so not too sure if he is a solution.

I was quite surprised to see that Liverpool apparently said Phillips could leave for 10 mill, don’t know how accurate that information is but from what I’ve seen of him watching various Liverpool games on the box think he would suit us very well, obviously played well against us at the Turf. Don’t forget that Liverpool have also bought another Centre back (name escapes me) already in this window so he’s very much down the pecking order when all are fit.
Some don’t seem to rate Phillips on here but I’d be very happy if he does turn out to be Tarks replacement.

We tried to sign Davies in January from Preston before Liverpool signed him, so you’d think he’d be of interest if they’re letting him go. Only reservation i would have is that he’s very left footed, so not too sure how well he’d partner with Mee.

Maybe even a player coming this way to reduce the % payable to Brentford.
doesn't work like that, there would be a valuation on the incoming player and that would count towards the monies owed to Brentford, it isn't about the money that changes hands it is the value placed on the transaction

West Ham central reporting that they are after Chris Wood as well.

Is there not a loophole that could be taken advantage off. I believe United did it a few years ago.

They bought a player for X amount. Then in separate transfer they sold the team a player for much cheaper than originally thought.

Yes, but if we get let's say 15m plus Choudary and we valued Choudary at 3m, then the total transaction would be 18m the total fee.

We could get only 5m in cash, and 2 players in, and we might only value those players at 5m each, especially in these uncertain times, meaning we would only need to give Brentford 30% of any profit on the 4m we reportedly paid them so that would be 30% of 11m using the figures above...

There's a way round it, and a few teams including ourselves have used that trick before

If Tarky does go to the Foxes, I’d be more than interested in seeing Barnes go up against him for 30 minutes or so.

Let’s get ready to rumble!

I think he has become frustrated at our style of football and I genuinely don't blame him for wanting to play in a better team.
He's the one who boots it 70 yards....

Didn't we benefit with the Brownhill/Wells transaction and the amount we had to pay Huddersfield.

I agree with Tiger, I really want the speculation about JT to come to an end.
He has been the colossus at the back.
From my point of view of I would move him forward to become a midfield player. He will be heroic in that position I’m sure.
