Today's Football
Brentford v Bournemouth (0-1 first match)
Swansea v Barnsley (1-0 first match)
Sunderland v Lincoln (0-2 first match)
I've put the scores on agg prior to KO today.
Difficult to call the first game whereas I think Swansea and Lincoln will reach the respective finals.

Re: Today's Football
Fancy Bournemouth to edge their tie, and another play-off reverse could see Thomas Frank's future in doubt, he's got Brentford playing great footy, but if they keep falling at the final hurdle that all counts for nowt.
Agree Swansea and Lincoln to progress, and yet more play-off anguish for Sunderland will be hard for their long suffering fans to bear.

How many fans have Brentford been allowed ? there looks to be loads of them all bunched together.

Brentford's play-off record is dire, 10 campaigns and they've yet to taste success.
And it's not looking likely to improve this year either 1-0 Cherries, good for us that if they return it means extra cash for all the PL teams, so come on the Cherries.

Embarrassing from Bournemouth keeper.
Re: Today's Football
How the hell does he give hand ball for that, never a penalty. It’s not surprising that some people are falling out of love with the game.

Referee doing his utmost to make things interesting.
Very, very harsh penalty decision & then books Toney when the sole assailant was Begovic.

He succeeded in getting Toney booked too though ... knew exactly what he was doing

Amazing game so far.
Bournemouth seem more interested in slowing the game down than playing.

Brentford’s manager isn’t annoying constantly holding his watch in the air.

Re: Today's Football
Ref has partially redeemed himself there. Correct decision, but one that took a bit of character to give.

Re: Today's Football
I’m wondering if he’s going to get into the Premier League some time soon. I think it’s the first time we’ve ever taken a ref from another country (Australia) and put him straight into the Football League. He does quite a lot of VAR in the Premier League.

Not sure he’s ready - I’m all for letting the game flow but if this was a PL game I think there may haven been a few more bookings at leastClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 1:05 pmI’m wondering if he’s going to get into the Premier League some time soon. Re: Today's Football
Some good, some bad from the ref.
Disagree with his reward of the penalty, disagree with him carding Toney. There was a second claim for a Brentford penalty which is think is more of an offence than the "handball" decision.
But he got the red card spot on.

I can see him getting a second yellow for timewasting if the score stays like this in the second half.

Re: Today's Football
We say that but plenty of refs out there find chickening out of giving tough, correct decisions to be a very easy alternative.

These play off games are so boring, nothing happens.
Re: Today's Football
The watch pointing is getting a little bit silly. I think the ref has got the message.

It's et up for a cracking 2nd half now, ET is definitely a possibility also, and perhaps even the drama of penalties.

I’m still trying to work out how it’s a natural position to have your arms in the air, when sliding in, as Goodman keeps banging on about.

Re: Today's Football
He's the ref that was miked up for his last game in Aus, made for a really good insight into how a ref manages the game and the players. Seemed like a decent fella. Probably on youtube somewhere.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 1:05 pmI’m wondering if he’s going to get into the Premier League some time soon. Re: Today's Football
Advantage Brentford now you'd imagine, but can they make it count and get a winner.
Re: Today's Football
I think either of these would struggle in the PL as they are.

I think he will, if he’s been consistent with the scoring he’s given, I’m told there’s no reason then not to promote them. I think there’s a few ready to step up anytime soon.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 1:05 pmI’m wondering if he’s going to get into the Premier League some time soon.
