Player Of The Season
Player Of The Season
Who's your Burnley player of the season?
Pope, Mee and Tarky have all had solid seasons. Westy's been the pick of the bunch in midfield for me. Chris Wood has been on fire in the second half of the season and the debate rages as to how much that has been enabled by playing Vydra. Dwight has had some great moments and carries the threat. Charlie Taylor is finishing strongly but Pieters has made him work. Josh Brownhill has contributed with his versatility.
But my POTS is Matt Lowton. A yard short of pace for this level but a natural footballer. Like Wood, he's come on strong in the second half of the season...and that goal at Palace! Seems an unassuming character who rarely gets the plaudits but I have enjoyed his work this season.

Re: Player Of The Season
As you point out Lowton has had a superb second half of the season but the vote is PotS.
Pope just edges out Tarks and Mee for mine.

Re: Player Of The Season
Tricky one this as no-one has stood out, both Lowton & Wood have been on fire since Christmas, but for his consistency I have to go for Tarks.
Re: Player Of The Season
Ben Mee for me.
Re: Player Of The Season
I think Westwood has been very consistent, carried the midfield on a number of occasions, played with different players alongside and in different formations and chipped in with a brilliant goal.

Chris Wood 'for learning.'

Ben Mee. I found it a relatively easy decision for a change.

Re: Player Of The Season
Lowton is a good shout. He was awful at the start of the season but has come on massively. Ben a few too many errors for me consider him, Westwood has been the best of the MF, but I'd go for Wood - he was out for a while but has carried us through games this season and to get >10 goals again being in mind we don't create great chances shows he is playing at the top of his level

Dale Stephens ...
Only joking my vote goes to the collossus that is Ben Mee with Nick Pope runner up

Re: Player Of The Season
Mee, just mainly for the impact on our form since coming back from injury.
Nobody massively stands out and surprised anyone is suggesting Westwood who has been bang average most of the season IMO.

Chris Wood , we’d have been relegated without him

Re: Player Of The Season
Struggling to pick, for me the only five are
Pope
Tarks
Mee
Wood
Westwood
Possibly go Wood. But for his goals and run of form we might still be facing relegation

Re: Player Of The Season
It can only be between His Holiness the Pope or Ben Mee. The impact both have on the team is massive, and I think Ben Mee just edges it.
I find it incredible that people are considering Brownhill, an average player who works hard, but his passing and creativity certainly lets him down. Yet to get an assist or a league goal.

Re: Player Of The Season
Brownhill got an assist the other day against Fulham...
Woody for me - yes he played some poor games but ultimately he has kept us up with his goals. The games we have won are the games when the strikers played well and scored. The games we have lost have mainly been the fault of poor defending this season which is something I’m sure dyche would like to rectify.

Re: Player Of The Season
There hasn't been a single standout player for me this year.
I'd plump for Chris Wood but only by a whisker. It's easy to forget the stick he was getting (some of it deservedly) during his barren spell.
Pope, Tarks & Mee have been solid enough. If they'd played every game one suspects we'd be a handful of places higher.
Honourable mentions to Dwight & Taylor too.

Re: Player Of The Season
Could be anyone of 4 or 5 as no one has stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
So players of the season for me - in no particular order - are:
Pope, Mee, Tarks, Wood, Vydra
with
Lowton, Taylor, McNeil and Brownhill not too far behind.
But everyone has made a contribution in the effort to stay up.

Re: Player Of The Season
Not an easy call.
Pope and Tarky been alright. Wood scored a few despite missing plenty.
It hasn't been a good season so I'm going to go Vydra for the impact he has had on our better overall play.

Congratulations Josh, that's enough to give him the POTY.

Pope, for being consistent over the season rather than the past 3 or 4 months.
If Wood hadn’t been having such an amazing stinker for the first half of the season, he would be my pick.

Pope by a country mile, and our results without him show how much we will miss his presence if he decides to leave us.

Hard one this year, nobody has been a stand out for me.
I’d probably agree with most on here and say Pope or Mee

Yeah, like others I’m with Pope and Mee. I think Pope probably shades it though.

Wood. As an earlier poster stated we'd have gone down without his goals.
