Brooks for our right side would give us more going forward. Not sure what his defensive skills are and he hasn’t got back to his pre-injury levels yet.
Has to be worth a punt.

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I think there'll be lots of interest in Brooks, which almost certainly rules us out.

Danjuma Groenveld (goalscoring winger) ??
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
The two centre backs at Barnsley had a fantastic season Helik and Andersen both worth a look at, bring one in and get him ready to be Tarkowski's replacement

I want Brentford to come up but I feel that nerves will get to them
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I'd take Armstrong from those down the road and Wallace at Millwall a very good right winger with a great cross plus a good assist and goal scoring record

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Billing would be a good midfield addition
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Would Brooks go straight into our 1st eleven, I doubt it?
He has undoubted dribbling skills but very lightweight in stature and also injury prone. Hasn't exactly set the
Championship alight when he has played.
Would seemingly play on our right side although left footed similar to what Gudmunnson does for us at present.
He is younger than Johannn Gudmunnson but is he a better player?

I'm sure the players are working with their agents to try and secure moves to Southampton, Brighton, Watford and the London clubs

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I'd say he is a much better player than JBG, although I agree he does seem pretty lightweight. Mind you so did McNeil when he first came into the team. I Personally think we need to add players with a good footballing brain wherever possible, as our ball retention needs improving. Look at our transformation when we had Defour playing and an in-form Brady.
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I would like us to test the water on Brooks. It may turn our that he's out of our reach because we don't have enough money and/or bigger clubs go in for him. However if not he would certainly strengthen us in a position we must strengthen and he may be keen to return to the North West.

I'm surprised no-one came in for him this season.taio wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 9:58 amI would like us to test the water on Brooks. I remember last season when the south coast drama queens were bemoaning our style of play and how they would sooner be relegated than play like Burnley blah blah blah. Who's smug now ?

Would go for Gallagher at Chelsea (been at WBA on a season long loan)
Would need an assurance from SD that he would start every game barring injury, and a major loss of form. He is young, tenacious and has legs, and better than anything we have and a perfect partner for Westwood. Has impressed me in a poor WBA side

I've always liked the look of Billing. Height and power for our center midfield. I think he'd slot right in
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
No we wouldn't because Dyche is a better manager than Howe so he'd get more out of those playersQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 10:23 amIf we sign all their players, then we will go down like they did.
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Just had a look on Youtube at Danjuma. I think he came on as a sub against Palace last season and looked out of his depth. That said, Bournemouth were awful that day and made Palace look like Barca and I'm pretty sure Howe brought him on as a wing-back.
Looks to have talent.

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Don't really understand the hard on for Billing to be honest. Certainly no upgrade to what we have, though obviously if he were cheap he'd be a useful extra body, but no more than that.
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I would be absolutely staggered, if we are planning on continuing with our style of play if we went for Billing, doesn't have the mobility in a central midfield two at all, Lewis Cook is the Bournemouth player who would fit, Danjuma plays in Dwight's position but would certainly keep him on his toes as competition but it's the other side we need to concentrate recruitment efforts on.
If Billing did sign, his languid style would certainly quickly propel him into number one scapegoat status making Newcastle claret's continual dogging of Brownhill look like child's play.

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I change my mind each time I watch him. Looks like he has something but doesn’t get stuck in enough to play in our midfield. Think he’s more of an advanced midfielder that would work well centrally in a 4-2-3-1 system. Wouldn’t hurt to have players that allow us to play different systems but agree with you that it’s not a priority for this summer.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 12:24 pmDon't really understand the hard on for Billing to be honest. Bournemouth were relegated, got rid of Eddie Howe and failed to get promoted. Burnley were relegated, kept Sean Dyche and were promoted as Champions. Enough said !!

I think you’re right - not a certain starter and I think to be fair he’s not always played for Bournemouth. He was the player they sacrificed after the red which tells its own tale.Targetman wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 9:50 amWould Brooks go straight into our 1st eleven, I doubt it?

But if we’re letting Brady go, which I think we should, we need at least to wide players. Brooks would be a very tidy addition at the right price or try to reach an agreement with his agent to join when his contract expires.

But I thought Eddie left under mutual consent, that's what was stated at the time anyway.
You do have to ponder just how long Woodgate has got left in that post, and I suspect they'll have to trim the wage bill substantially this summer, so their best hope of a PL return may have already passed them by.

All the talk seems to be about Brooks and Billing - what about Lerma? He’s a tough tackling midfielder (loves a yellow card). Was a big signing and signed during the summer of the last World Cup so probably around a year left on his contract. Also probably one of their higher earners I assume.
I would love us to sign some more technically gifted/creative players but Lerma is a very decent player.

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
I don't get what all the fuss is about Billing, anytime I've seen him play he's done nothing to excite me, and I have concerns about his attitude at times, I suspect he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is, he goes missing in games far too often for my liking.
And yes he's suffered relegations with Udders & Bournemouth, I'm he's still only 24 he seems to have been around for ages. Finally he's contracted to Bournemouth until 2024, so he wouldn't come cheap, we can surely get better value elsewhere.

Agreed. He looks a decent player and certainly has something about him. But I can’t see him fitting into our 4-4-2 so doubt he will even be on Dyche’s radar.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 1:28 pmI don't get what all the fuss is about Billing, anytime I've seen him play he's done nothing to excite me, and I have concerns about his attitude at times, I suspect he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is, he goes missing in games far too often for my liking.

The days of buying decent players from Bournemouth are long gone. They have mostly been bought for ridiculous amounts of money and spend all their time swanning around in just the most ostentatious automobiles you can imagine.

Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Jed Wallace is a great shout, and he should be within our reach surely, he's only got a year left on his contract. so a modest fee of say 5/6m should suffice, and I doubt he's on crazy wages either, so that makes him even more attractive to me, he'd certainly add more than Brady/JBG have for the past couple of seasons that's for sure.
Dwight on the left and Jed on the right putting balls in for the likes of Wood makes us an entirely different proposition to counter next season.
Get him signed up Sean, and let's show some real intent in the market for once.

When you look at the effort/tackles that Gallagher put in for WBA against Liverpool, he would be a much better choice
Re: Now Bournemouth are staying down
Not convinced by Billing at all.
Lerme would be a better shout but would need a lot of work on his discipline/diligence. Has the potential to be a very good premier league player for me.
Out of all mentioned though Gallagher would be my favourite. I think he would be excellent for us tucked in on the right - feel he would be an upgrade on both Brownhill and previously Hendrick in that position as hes got similar physical attributes but that bit more quality on the ball.

I’ve heard they’re in a lot of trouble financially with their owner unwilling to keep bankrolling them. Not sure if it’s true but pretty certain they’ll need to sell this summer just to reduce their wage bill. Whether their personalities fit Burnley is a good point.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 1:35 pmThe days of buying decent players from Bournemouth are long gone. I love how you single out my name. He gets a dogging from most posters every week. Brownhill has proven over 40 odd games that he is not good enough and I am sure if Dyche has the window he wants Brownhill won’t be starting next season.

Danjuma and Brooks would both improve our squads , Brooks needs to get back to full fitness and he has got quality . Danjuma knows where the net is and would provide a great option. Would love either or both and let Brady go.
McNeil,JBG,Danjuma and Brooks would be a decent 4 to pick from
