I doubt we'd be looking to sell a third choice goalkeeper but neither of them have looked the part when they've played. I know his debut was at Man City but BPF has conceded 14 in four games and Norris those three last Wednesday.

Could Mee be leaving this summer? Only a year left on his contract hasn’t he?

It doesn’t matter if Dunne is leaving he’s our only other fit centre half.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:19 pmThought Dyche had already confirmed he was leaving?

Why on earth would you come to the conclusion Mee is leaving?? Bizarre.

I don’t think he is leaving just merely asking the question?
Could he want a new challenge with only a couple of years left at the top of his game

He’s out with a groin injury.
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
Yeah that's the strange one.
Norris was awful v Liverpool, and BPF was the number 2 and the future , still can be. Norris probably wont get any better and is hardly known to be a solid GK with a good history.
They might be protecting BPF so he doesnt get crushed before he's really started, although I'd have thought playing the worst side in the league who are poor going forward wouod be the best chance to secure a clean sheet and build some confidence.

Afternoon all from a very wet and windy Isle of Man......good job we had bbq in the sun yesterday!!! I,m just going to enjoy this afternoon safe in the knowledge it’s job done during an unbelievably difficult time for many and with a bit of luck we’ll be back in our seats next season for yet more Prem League footy!!!
Hopefully Norris does have a decent afternoon.....

No issues with the formation for me at all. I hope Dyche is going with this with a view to utilising it more regularly next season. Our best ever season under Dyche came whilst we were playing with a 451.
Some head-scratchers with the personnel though.

not heard that but doesn't surprise me if true. We have to play someone at CB and if he's our only option today then it is what it isNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:16 pmThought Dyche had already confirmed he was leaving?
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
Can't believe we haven't called another youth player up to fill the last spot on the bench. Last game of the season with virtually nothing to play for and we'd rather have a space than fill it with one of the youth team. Strange to say the least.

Afternoon all from a very mixed day here in Galway , now the weather is up and down and some may say so is our team sheet but we will carry on for what is the last game of the season .
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
So for today's game we have out injured.....
Pope
Brady
Bardsley
Long
Mee
Have I missed out any?
All through this season we have consistently had lots of injuries.

Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
Fair point, I hadn’t actually thought of the fact that Norris is presumably happy to be the third choice keeper, whereas you’d expect BPF to move on if he slipped to third in the pecking order. Makes me think Dyche has probably seen enough of BPF and would rather give Norris another game.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:23 pmI doubt we'd be looking to sell a third choice goalkeeper but neither of them have looked the part when they've played. Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
There’s a reasoning that the shortened break between last season and this is a contributory factor in the injuries

See enough of BPF as in realising he's not going to be the answer?Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:41 pmFair point, I hadn’t actually thought of the fact that Norris is presumably happy to be the third choice keeper, whereas you’d expect BPF to move on if he slipped to third in the pecking order. If Dunne is leaving why not play Thomas or Nartey?MACCA wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:22 pmDunne is leaving the club
The line up is just the best we've got, we are down to the bare bones.
Not sure why Norris is playing again mind, he should have done better with 2 if not all 3 of the goals against liverpool.
BPF confidence must be really shot, and/or they really not trust him.
They seem to be protecting him

Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
Greetings from a steamy SW Ontario. Currently 28 degrees, feeling like 34 with that nasty humidity, bit early for that high humidity nonsense. As for today's game, a rather strange starting line up for sure, good thing it's a game of little or no consequence for either side. It'll be good to see the end of this nasty season, good riddance!!
Come on you Clarets

Agreed. Same problem as so many other younger keepers. Phenomenal reflex saves but can’t organise those in front of him or so it appears.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:42 pmSee enough of BPF as in realising he's not going to be the answer?

Yeah, seen enough as to think he’s not going to be here next season. I could be wide of the mark of course, but he doesn’t look up to PL standard.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:42 pmSee enough of BPF as in realising he's not going to be the answer?

Mind you, Joe Hart didn't seem able to organise our back four while Tom and Nick have found it much easier.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:45 pmAgreed. Same problem as so many other younger keepers. Phenomenal reflex saves but can’t organise those in front of him or so it appears.

Yes, you forgot Stephens. I don't know if Benson is injured, but he doesn't seem to make the match day squad these days.

What has happened to Benson ? Completely disappeared. If Dunne is leaving why not give Nartey a game - unless he’s leaving too off course ?
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
I think the communication from Heaton was his best attribute, loudest voice on the pitch. Pope has picked that up too but also Pope commands his 6 yard box like very few others.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:46 pmMind you, Joe Hart didn't seem able to organise our back four while Tom and Nick have found it much easier.
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
One up front against the bottom team......brilliant
Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
Quite a depressing selection, would've loved to see Nartey and Richardson start.

Re: Sheffield United vs Burnley | Match day thread
In fairness, i don't recall anybody moaning about the Wood, Vydra combination, both have excelled, Vydra gives us something different, stretches and pushes back their back line and allows Wood to be onside and use his strength and they have linked well too.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 3:09 pmCan't win or lose - when we play two up front people moan about playing that way.
Wood scored goals in that formation and pairing and tbh we're not playing 451 more 4411 and both the coming short to receive the ball that that position requires and then the arriving late to get on the end of Woods link play would both be mor Vydra than Brownhill at present.

He is getting on my nerves already. It isn’t hard to get someone’s name right especially if he is in a job like that it just looks unprofessional. I wouldn’t mind but he is pronouncing Tarkowskis name right!

clearly a look to the future this formation. Makes sense to me. We need some recruitment across all midfield positions

Advantage Leicester in the race for CL places. Vardy penalty has them 1 up, well Chelsea and Liverpool are both being held.
