Lancashire league Cricket Bank Holiday Weekend

Post by Burnley1989 » Fri May 28, 2021 9:36 pm

DateLine: 28th May 2021
League leaders Walsden travel to play joint second placed Darwen on Sunday when the league fixtures resume on match day 3 of a hectic Bank Holiday weekend. Simon Wheelwright replaces Cameron Hanson in the Walsden team. John Cordingley, Jordan Clarke and Kamran Anwar replace Andrew Cook, Mark Emery and Jack Davies in the Darwen team. Neil Hornbuckle is sub pro.

The bottom two meet at Glebe Street where Crompton play Colne. Crompton have one win to date with Colne the only team in Division 1 yet to taste victory. Gary Hunt and Lewis Rimmer replace Adam Holt and Alex White for Colne who have Jurie Snyman as sub professional. Carl Taylor and Muhammad Zuhaib replace Josh Parker and AN Other in the Crompton team.

Joint second placed Norden take on Ramsbottom at Stag Park. Ramsbottom go in to the match on the back of successive league defeats but both clubs were successful in the LCFKO Cup last Sunday. Dan Pyke and Michael Howarth return for Ramsbottom in place of Nick Round and Josh Dentith. Norden's team will be finalised on Saturday evening.

Sixth placed Todmorden welcome fourth placed Clitheroe to Centre Vale in a case of deja vu. The two sides lock horns 24 hours earlier in the 2nd Round of the Worsley Cup also at Centre Vale. Marcus Sharp replaces Kyle O'Connor in the Clitheroe team. Sam Mulligan will keep wicket. Fiaz Rasool replaces Thomas Barker in the Todmorden team. Gurender Singh stands in as sub professional.

Middleton and champions Burnley meet at Towncroft. Middleton make a couple of changes with Peter Foden and Andy Gregoriou replacing Mo Shahid and Joel Harris. Chris Holt returns for Burnley in place of Matt Thornton.

Tenth placed Rochdale travel to meet seventh placed Lowerhouse at the Brooks Foundation Ground. Both clubs name an unchanged team.

New Division 2 leaders Haslingden face former leaders Enfield at the CDM Windows Bentgate Cricket Ground. Jordan Shannon's men were the only team to beat the rain on Sunday when they bowled East Lancs out for a season's low of 43. Haslingden make four changes with wicketkeeper Leon Brennan, Alex Coleman and Garry Sudworth replacing Connor Reed, Lawrence Adlum and Oliver Nicholls. Samit Patel resumes his duties as sub professional. Enfield will be without Cameron Clarke and Ben Dowling. Joe Demaine and a second teamer will come in.

Seventh play eighth at Blackburn Road where Rishton play Nelson. Miya Lunat and Haris Masood return for Rishton in place of Luke Eddleston and Kelly Mall. Nelson make one change with Elliot Bradley replacing Chris Gildea.

Something has to give at The Property Shop Arena where the two clubs still looking for a first win, ninth placed Accrington and bottom club Bacup meet. Matt Jones comes in to the Accrington team for his Lancashire League debut in place of Riley Armstrong. Bacup replace Matt Thompson with Scott Thompson.

One of three joint fourth placed clubs Church take on an all amateur East Lancs at West End. Ryan North replaces Dawood Rahman in the Church team. East Lancs are unchanged.

Greenmount and Great Harwood meet for the first time in the Lancashire League at The Log Cabin. Greenmount are without skipper Ryan Senior and Jack Harrison. Andy McGuinness and Kieron Edwards come in with professional Chesney Hughes taking charge. Ismheel Shakeel replaces Ethan Houldsworth in the Great Harwood team.

Unbeaten former leaders Littleborough take on joint fourth placed Rawtenstall at Hare Hill. Gareth Jones and Abbas Ahmad replace Peter Killelea and Blake Pickup in the Rawtenstall team. Littleborough make three changes with Matt Hernon, Joe Barnes and Josh Unsworth replacing Clinton Perren, Gary Nash and Joe Whatmough.

Great Harwood made 136ao against Lowerhouse. Was looking ropey for Harwood with 6 down and only 60 odd on the board . Pro run out for 0 in that unfortunate way when the bowler gets a touch on a straight drive.
House wobbling on 13/2

Enjoyed it at Great Harwood today, cracking ground

That run out is on Lowerhouse account, so good but so unlucky, thought their pro bowled fantastic

He was very quick. Certainly took Ben and Jonny by surprise.

Thought the umpires were poor today. Missed their stonewall runout of Frankie (no wonder they were incensed) and two of the lbws were a joke too. Think Paddy had taken about 3 strides down the wicket.

Like you say a nice tidy ground.

Yeah I agree, frankie was disappointed with his lbw but was run out a lot earlier

Gt Harwood put up a brilliant show yesterday, both on and off the field where everything looked a picture. Great game too, despite the lowish scores and not far from being a major upset. The Harwood pro is very rapid with the ball, but he's also an excellent batter and as mentioned above his freakish run out without even facing a ball was key to the game. As was the "run out" of Frankie for Lowerhouse when he was about 3 yards short of his ground and the ump was all at sea and let him stay. Very committed and enjoyable stuff from both teams!

How’d he end up at the non strikers end after a wicket? Or did he bat #2?

Wicket fell on the final ball of the previous over, so pro went in, but wasn't facing.

There's a break every 10 overs for sanitising, nappy changing and Farley's rusks, play will be suspended between 1pm - 3pm for " afternoon naps " ... 8-)

Enfield 99 AO at haslingden in div 2
Hassy should walk this league if Samit Patel stays on as the sub Pro for a while longer although he is off to the Caribbean T20 due to start at end of August

Haslingden in return 0-2
Patel out for a duck

Samit Patel has been playing all over the country as a pro recently. I guess he’s raking it in.

Great day for league cricket yesterday.

Sun shining and a lift in the restrictions saw plenty of grounds fill up with people making the most of it.

A sticky deck at Lowerhouse saw great knocks from Jonny Whitehead and the pro followed by a never give up attitude to securing the bowling points.
