Pre season Friendlies
Pre season Friendlies
Any rumours of who we may be playing? Don’t mind the odd pre season game especially if it presents a ‘tick’ or a ground that’s been off our radar for a while.
EDIT: that’s if we are allowed to go

Re: Pre season Friendlies
I would not be surprised if the new owners see this as an opportunity to market the club globally.
Real Salt Lake have built a 50 million dollar training center. Dave Checketts was trying to market it for warm weather training for elite European teams. With the new owners links to that club I wouldn't be surprised if we end up at there at some point playing friendlies against US teams.
Do they still have the Isle of Man tournament?

Re: Pre season Friendlies
I know Dyche has his preferences and loves the training camps in Portugal but when we get back to normal it would be nice to see our club use friendlies to build up our fan base within other clubs.
These new clubs would be a starting point this year, to get the partnership off the ground.
Then we should be visiting grounds like Glentoran and Helmond where we have fans coming over from every year and that we could build on. Visit Norway and Sweden where we have plenty of fans. Even go to Iceland while we still have JBG to help attract new fans.

The last 3 times we’ve been in Ireland we've followed up with a good season.
Come back boys.

Re: Pre season Friendlies
The training facility we used in Cork is near our Irish strategic partners!
Re: Pre season Friendlies
Helmond away would be great. Maybe leave that one till the travel restrictions have been dropped though!

Re: Pre season Friendlies
Aren't we sending our U23 side to play some of our development partners?
US tour wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. If not this year (due to Covid restrictions) then certainly next.

I don’t believe the first team will be going to Ireland this year. Could be somewhere in Europe.

Ha ha
As far as I know we are going to Europe but, like two years ago in Portugal, any game we might play is likely to be behind closed doors.

Things gradually easing in the US. No mask mandate in Massachusetts and all indoor occupancy restrictions lifted. The 6 New England States have made the most progress....
Re: Pre season Friendlies
Texas is open, Houston could be a good base but I'm sure it won't be. Salt Lake City an outside chance but no idea how open they are..

So not the UK then, seeing as we're not in Europe any more. Well that's what my next door neighbour says, and he voted for it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 11:52 amI don’t believe the first team will be going to Ireland this year. Could be somewhere in Europe.

Re: Pre season Friendlies
IF and that would be a big IF they do go where they intended then they have to play at least one game as a condition of being allowed to go … however there is a back up plan too so we’ll see
