Re: Why are we?
1.) We don’t have a good free kick specialist, and we rarely get free kicks in goalscoring positions.
2.) We set up defensively when we win a throw-in, which means that all of our players are in position to do their defensive duties if we lose possession, which we often do.

Re: Why are we?
We might get better at the direct free kicks now Brady has gone
Although not on the field much recently, whenever he was he always seemed to be the one that took them, despite them either a) never beating the wall, or b) being woefully off target

Re: Why are we?
Presumably it's all down to Westwood and Dwight from now on unless we get a specialist in.

Been asking this question, however the success rate for direct free kicks is so low anyway statistically it doesnt appear to be worth shooting directly.
Bring back the wall pass!

Re: Why are we?
Westwood corners often lead to goals.
Brownhill decent free kick taker
But why do we waste free kicks with our stupid sideways and backward routine followed by goofball?

Re: Why are we?
In fairness we were bloody awful at pretty much everything last season .
Re: Why are we?
We don't have anyone with a pedigree of scoring direct freekicks, I don't think I've seen Brownhill/Westwood really hit a good one yet. Mcneil can strike a good ball but he isn't Ross Wallace/Blake on a free kick.

Re: Why are we?
For shots on goal dont understand why Chris Wood isnt tried. He certainly hits a penalty hard and accurate. OK his heading would be missed in the area but Harry Kane is used at Spurs and Alan Shearer in his pomp at Newcastle and Blackburn, didn't do their stats much harm

Re: Why are we?
I remember reading an article (maybe in Athletic) with regards to Liverpool. Their throw-ins were amongst the worst in the league for possession retention and chance creation so they brought a specialist throw-in taking coach. Within a season they were the best in the division.
May be worth a bash doing similar.

Re: Why are we?
Start a thread with half a question in the subject?
Re: Why are we?
I thought it was a whole question, you know, the philosophising type:
Why are we? Because if we aren't, we're not.
