Takes Morecambe up via the play offs then resigns to pursue other opportunities....

Re: Derek Adams
Why? He’s done his job and must have a better opportunity lined up. Good luck to him.
Re: Derek Adams
I’m presuming this means that any club he goes to now won’t be required to pay Morcambe any compensation.
If that’s the case and he pops up somewhere pretty soon, then it’s incredibly poor from him.

Hard to believe Bradford is that attractive to drop a division to manage them.

Re: Derek Adams
It's been rumoured he was going to Bradford for quite a few weeks.
They will pay a lot more than Morecombe and have a bigger budget. If there's no funds for him in league one with the shrimps it would be a long season.

Re: Derek Adams
Bradford City spoke to him last January and I think it was all but a done deal then although I think Morecambe wanted him to stay until the end of the season. I did wonder whether he'd back track having won promotion though.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:53 amIt's been rumoured he was going to Bradford for quite a few weeks.

Re: Derek Adams
Money talks, Morecambe probably had one of the lowest budgets in the division and that probably showed in Adam's wages.
Bradford are classed as a big club in that league, will have several times the budget of Morcambe, which will no doubt be shown in Adam's pay increase, should he join them.
Cant blame a chap for getting the best possible financial package on offer, especially in the cut throat world of football management.
Who knows, he could have been out of work staying at Morcambe by November

Just leaves them in the lurch. Few weeks to get a new manager and signings in before pre season after promotion. Would leave a very sour taste if I was a Morecombe fan.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:48 amWhy? He’s done his job and must have a better opportunity lined up. Good luck to him.

Re: Derek Adams
I think you”ll find clubs will be appointing new managers a lot closer to the start of the next season. He might be getting Micky Mellons job in Dundee. This is football. If the club have any planning this would be covered.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:02 amJust leaves them in the lurch. Re: Derek Adams
He had a massive say on Bradford City’s retained list. They’re signing Cole Stockton from Morecambe as well, apparently.
Hope he miserably fails.

Can't help but feel sorry for Morcambe and their fans. Business is business but after such a historic win the reality has quickly turned into survival being an even bigger struggle next season with all the upheaval that will come with this.

Re: Derek Adams
Almost incredible that people should moan and whinge when someone wants to move on and better themselves with a bit of ambition ,after doing a bloody good job and total turnaround at the club . He’s left them promoted ,well run and a sensible squad , this isn’t Coyle leaving us stone bottom , rudderless ,skint and doomed. Some on here would bring back jumpers for goalposts if they could .

Re: Derek Adams
I haven't really kept a eye on Morecambe for a few years but I thought they were going bust. The owner wasn't paying wages and the longterm manager left.
I was quite surprised when they got promoted.
Did the owner inject any funds in?

Re: Derek Adams
The club was disastrously owned by a Brazilian from 2016 to 2018.He was certainly taking them to bankruptcy. The club got new British owners in 2018.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:43 amI haven't really kept a eye on Morecambe for a few years but I thought they were going bust. Re: Derek Adams
I don't think he's done a Judas here, quite the opposite. He's taken them up against all odds and left way before the start of the new season. I'd be shouting 'Judas' if he'd spent a ton, by Morecambe's standards, only to walk away a few days before the start of the new season.

Re: Derek Adams
I think people think he's walked out on Morecambe, which in a way he has, but they and Bradford City knew this was going to happen from the beginning of the year. It had all but been agreed so there are no surprises for Morecambe or the club.

Re: Derek Adams
The puzzling bit for me is why would you want to drop a division after taking a side out of it. There is a good chance Morecambe will get relegated next season but I wouldn't be putting a penny on a club like Bradford being promoted. Not sure job stability would ever come into the equation either when Bradford is the club in question, he is as likely to be sacked at Bradford as he is at Morecambe.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 3:11 pmI think people think he's walked out on Morecambe, which in a way he has, but they and Bradford City knew this was going to happen from the beginning of the year. Re: Derek Adams
I don't know why he would want to drop but they were in the same division when he opted to make the move although Morecambe were up in the play off positions. Bigger club, bigger budget, more options.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 3:15 pmThe puzzling bit for me is why would you want to drop a division after taking a side out of it. Exhibit A ) Francis Stanley Ternent ... left Bury in the Championship after 2 successive promotions & a year staying up, to join us in the Division below ?claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 3:15 pmThe puzzling bit for me is why would you want to drop a division after taking a side out of it. Re: Derek Adams
Fully agree with this. Clubs have zero loyalty to managers so why on earth should it be any different the other way round? At that level the chance to earn more money on a better budget would be too good to turn down. I think he'll do well at Bradford.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:36 amAlmost incredible that people should moan and whinge when someone wants to move on and better themselves with a bit of ambition ,after doing a bloody good job and total turnaround at the club .
