At least the vacant managers jobs are filling up. Benitez to Everton and Lucien Favre is in talks to take over at Crystal Palace.
Come on Sean. Put pen to paper. You know it makes sense.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
The perfect scenario , Dyche signs contract, this encourages Tarkowski to take care of his big toe and Collins does a Keane.
That would sort the defence out for another season unless something untoward happens.
On to the wide midfield ........

Favre has had a change of heart and turned Palace down after agreeing to a three year contract.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:19 pmAt least the vacant managers jobs are filling up. Benitez to Everton and Lucien Favre is in talks to take over at Crystal Palace.

Dyche back to being favourite to take the reigns (although that's probably more a case of there being no other obvious candidate at this stage).

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
I reckon with players returning to training soon and the contract situations they’ll want a very quick appointment with an out of work manager.
Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Yawn!
Why has Favre declined the opportunity?
SD is going to get everything he wants not because he wants it but because the new owners planned it that way.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Dyche won't be taking those particular reins. He won't be leaving his secure job with Burnley to take a job at Palace where he isn't really wanted. Any headhunter that tries to persuade someone to change jobs with the line "we don't really want you but none of the men we did want will come" doesn't normally get very far.

I'm surprised Galtier isn't being mentioned for any of these jobs, just won the French league title with Lille and quit a few days later.

What makes sense is Sean not putting pen to paper, until he's happy with the dealings in the transfer window. Then I'm sure he will.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:19 pmAt least the vacant managers jobs are filling up. Benitez to Everton and Lucien Favre is in talks to take over at Crystal Palace.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
There’s no chance Sean would go to Palace given the fact they’ve offered the job to at least two other candidates ahead of him.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
I agree.
And I honestly think they’ll struggle to fill the role given how they’ve approached this appointment. Does look very amateurish and you have to wonder how it will effect the start of their season… shame we’re not playing them until November!
It’ll have to be someone desperate now. Lampard or Howe would be my guess.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Palace desperate to get the wage bill down by getting some of their academy players in the team. No top manager will take the reins with their hands tied behind their back.
Perfect for Frank Lampard.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
It very much depends on whether you like to just sit in it or do some work in it! I’m very much in favour of the former!!
Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Not to mention we are in an infinitely better spot than Palace, in less than 1 week they lose 10+ first team players and they still haven't got a manager in place. I swear I read the foreign owners wanted to sell the club? maybe i'm off on that. Who knows what will happen to Zaha?
To me they look one of the favourites to drop next year atm.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
The Americans have been trying to sell up for at least 3 years - rumour is they have someone (another American) looking at the books at the moment - if true it could be adding to the uncertainty a prospective manager would have about kicking off a rebuild project with one set of owners and finding himself with a different group in a few months who may have a different strategy/perspectiveKRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 9:42 amNot to mention we are in an infinitely better spot than Palace, in less than 1 week they lose 10+ first team players and they still haven't got a manager in place. Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Early days yet but it does seem Crystal Palace are looking like they are going to have a great deal of difficulty getting all their ducks in a row before the season starts.
Must be among the favourites for the drop at this stage, I would have thought.

Quite a large group of Palace fans are convinced that Dyche will come if they snap their fingers and ask him.

They're fourth favourites behind the newly promoted teams.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 12:01 pmEarly days yet but it does seem Crystal Palace are looking like they are going to have a great deal of difficulty getting all their ducks in a row before the season starts.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
So the Americans are likely pulling a good old... you know who and stopping any kind of funding in the transfer window until they've sold the club. No wonder they haven't got a manager yet, looks a sinking ship. I just heard Andros Townsend on talksport, he said the 10 out of contract players have been told to wait for the new manager to come in before possibly being offered new deals, they were told Farve was a done deal, now it's collapsed.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 11:46 amThe Americans have been trying to sell up for at least 3 years - rumour is they have someone (another American) looking at the books at the moment - if true it could be adding to the uncertainty a prospective manager would have about kicking off a rebuild project with one set of owners and finding himself with a different group in a few months who may have a different strategy/perspective

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
rank bottom for me at the moment. They still have time but it is getting short to line the ducks up now.
Norwich have largely remained stable, and I expect them to be better this time. Brentford will get the new club bounce for a while Watford are reasonably solid and will be ready for a scrap. Palace are so far from being ready it could get embarrassing without Wroy at the helm.
Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Hopefully reading the more positive comments regarding Dyche staying at Burnley I think there is more chance of Prince Philip giving Princess Diane a piggy back through the gates of Buckingham then Dyche going through the gates of Selhurst park.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
With managerial candidates falling by the wayside the only danger I can see is that Palace get desperate and make Dyche an offer that he would find it very difficult to turn down.

my suspicion is that Dyche's new Burnley contract is agreed and just has to be announced, maybe because all his backroom staff have yet to agree the details on their contracts too.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:31 pmWith managerial candidates falling by the wayside the only danger I can see is that Palace get desperate and make Dyche an offer that he would find it very difficult to turn down.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
With only a week away before the whole team back it’s strange he’s not put pen to paper I think he s trying to get the best deal he can and stretch the boundaries he still has a year left on his contract and apart from palace not too many options
Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Surely overplayed his hand now. All the jobs he could reasonably think of as the next step are being filled and he doesn’t appear to be a serious candidate for any of them, I do feel a little like a wife with a husband who is great with the kids but has wandering eyes. Feel he wouldn’t be with us if only something better would hurry up and come along.
Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Tend to agree. The fact we've signed one and actively pursuing another of Dyche's long term targets suggest it's just a matter of when, not if it's announced.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:35 pmmy suspicion is that Dyche's new Burnley contract is agreed and just has to be announced, maybe because all his backroom staff have yet to agree the details on their contracts too.

I am assuming there is a chance Dyche won’t be signing a contract? Could he be letting it run down to move on next season.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
I would have thought that the obvious reason for Sean not to sign a new contract just yet, is to make sure he gets backed in the transfer window before commiting himself.

I thought that announcement of the Technical Committee by Pace on Thursday, would have confirmed to everyone what the situation was - it was all we are in harmony and working on the future together with the manager at the centre driving it all

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
If it were true that Sean was waiting for players to actually be signed before committing to a new deal that would demonstrate a certain lack of trust and belief in what the new owners were saying to him.
That would hardly be helpful going forwards.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
I would’ve thought the reason for not signing is taking a break and not being back at the Turf/Gawthorpe yet. It’ll probably be sorted (if it hasn’t already) and signed once the holidays are over.
