Its uncertain long term until he signs, but short term it's relatively certain as other have correctly said as he's contractually bound, it's an enhanced package he's been offered & if I was to guess what the hold up is it's probably negotiations, its no different to extending a players contract, the players wants the best deal for themselves & the club want to ensure it's value for money from their end.djemba-djemba wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 5:14 pmIf it’s that simple then there’s no need for us to give him all this extra money he’s after in his wage packet then.

Just thought we need to bump this thread back up the mb. It appears as all the posts about Sean Dyche's expected signing of a new contract have moved over to the transfer window thread.

Is he waiting to see what the board are capable of before he signs? Or is it just that he's having a couple of weeks away from the club to refresh, then sign when he gets back? That would make sense.
Fingers crossed something happens soon though.

I don't think many people on here have considered that he will most likely be taking a short, and well deserved break, after a grueling season.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 10:33 amIs he waiting to see what the board are capable of before he signs? The longer it remains unsigned, the more it will look like he's keeping his options open, particularly with vacancies around. Not that I'm particularly blaming him.

Ismael played for Palace and is the current Barnsley manager. Cooper remains clear favourite for Palace according to the bookies.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 3:40 pmSmatterings on Twitter/ Facebook
General consensus is the selection has been narrowed down to Dyche and someone called Ismael (no idea who that is)

So if he’s not committing now on what you would assume are increased wages in the new contract drawn up - when‘s the time to withdraw the offer?
Looks like he might be waiting for a better offer from another club. If nobody is going in for him then why should we pay him anymore than he already gets if nobody else wants him?

I would be holding off if I was him, until the new owners show they are serious about attracting new players to our squad. Personally I would only do it after the first two or three signings have been made. Lets face it he has a year to run and can call the shots. IF no new players materialise he can walk with a clear conscious and the outside world will fully understand his reasonsdjemba-djemba wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:43 pmSo if he’s not committing now on what you would assume are increased wages in the new contract drawn up - when‘s the time to withdraw the offer?

There’s some right panic merchants in here aren’t there? He’s a senior exec, signing a contract, not some lad signing for a 12 month sky contract. These things always take time. He’s under contract, so there’s no rush.
As for his salary, he’s earned every penny. He’s in the top 5 performing football managers in the country.

Fully agree -however SD will know quite simply that another window with no signings is going to be a dog fight, and a strong possibility of relegation-the last thing he will want on his CV. Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Do contracts actually carry much weight where managers are concerned?
If another club wants to speak to a manager, how often do they get stopped from leaving if they want to go?
I can only think of Steve Bruce at Crystal Palace being put on gardening leave, but he'd only been in the job for a few months.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Not really, but the point is when they are under contract & leave during the contract you get compensated, we need dyche to sign really so if another club does come in the club are recompensed. We would now but the amount would be less because of the shortness of the duration left, you are in less of a commanding position.Spijed wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:12 amDo contracts actually carry much weight where managers are concerned?

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
They nay not carry weight, but they do carry value..... it often costs more to trigger clauses in contracts, if the contract length is longer, which I suppose does add weight, as it will put some clubs off.Spijed wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:12 amDo contracts actually carry much weight where managers are concerned?

Which you would expect to be one of the factors that takes some time. The club is negotiating with numerous members of staff who will only want to sign on the dotted line when the whole team has agreed terms.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:55 amHe’s always tied in his main staff in terms of contract length.

I don't think it is. Which managers are performing consistently above what Dyche has achieved at Burnley? Which teams are consistently at / above their expected level in the football pyramid - based on resources available - and how much above? I appreciate this is a bit moneyball, but I doubt there's many more than 5 if there are even 5.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 11:04 amHe's done very well for Burnley, especially results wise. It's hard to judge managers over a period as the average length in a job is 18 months.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 11:29 amI don't think it is. But this season
Tuchel has won the Champions league within a few month
Pep has won the double
Brendan Rodgers won the FA Cup and 5th
Moyes surprised everyone finishing 6th
Bielsa finished 9th in his first season
Ole finishing 2nd and Europa league finalists
Derek Adams getting Morecombe promoted is probably manager of the season.
John Coleman at Accy does an unbelievable job without any resources.
Dyche had a shout at top 5 when we finished 7th

Why is the average length in role 18 months? Usually because those managers stop achieving expected results isn't it? Sure, there's some trigger happy chairmen about, but most get sacked because they don't perform to a level that the club are happy with.
Tuchel has done well, but too new to rate. Pep is obviously a great, but has he achieved his expectations? Expectations there are to win a champions league, and he's failed. Brendan Rogers has done very well, and is in and around that top 5 I would say. Moyes consistently over performed at Everton and did so this year at West Ham. He's generally under rated by football fans. Bielsa spent a chunk of money didn't he? But, much as it pains me to say, they over performend, so he'd be in there - he had 1 season of achieving and 1 season of over achieving. Ole - can't have in there. Utd Spend to win major trophies, not lose Plate competitions. Derek Adams outstanding, Michael Duff outstanding - both over achieved on their expected positions, but in leagues where the gap between the have's and have nots is not so monumental, which taints it a bit. John Coleman similarly.
When Dyche had Burnley finishing 7th, in that season, he probably achieved most in the whole football pyramid for that season.
Even if all of these are over achievers, we've still got a manager performing within the top 8 in the country,

While I am not disagreeing with you Dan, I think it is important to point out your argument is hardly like for like. I’m sure other managers puke realising the scope of Sean’s control. For that there seems to be a reluctance to accept we have a lot to thank the previous board for. I think that will be SD’s problem with finding another established Premier league club. People forget that it took a while for the Burnley method to develop and other clubs need results and performances from day one. It also means that when he does decide it’s time to go I think we will get advance warning, or at least hope so… so they can ghost Sean around the club for six months and learn the full scope that comes with being a Burnley manager. Far more than most clubs who employ a European head coach… they can hire and fire without much disturbance.
