Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
As far as I'm concerned Dyche has 12 months to sign a new contract, the need for players in is far more urgent. Even if he signs a new deal Tomorrow, 2 weeks down the line he might end up at Everton. The length of the managers contract doesn't seem to really matter, maybe it helps with receiving more compensation if he were to move on but even then I'm not sure and compensation has never really been ground breaking fees. It's almost like people think his deal expires in 2 weeks the way posters on here are panicking.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 10:53 pmThe mass panic is because some tabloid journalist got a story wrong and all the click bait sites followed.

Dyche is signing a new contract and we are going to strengthen the starting eleven this window?

“I told Dell Loy, ‘Never let a coach, ever, go into the final year of his contract without an extension. If you’re not going to give him an extension, you’ve already decided to fire him.’ If he’s not under contract, he’s going to do and say and act in a way that starts to shift to his best interest and not necessarily the team’s,” Checketts said.
taken from an article shortly after he left Real Salt Lake.
That quote sort of gives the impression that he would prefer to tie things up sooner rather than later. It also suggests that he might not look favourably on a manager who decides to take his contract negotiation down to the wire.

He’s currently working for the church in London until end of this month. He wasn’t one of the ALK directors at takeover. That was Pace, Hunt & Smith.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:57 amI’m sure Chester can confirm, but Checketts is already involved with ALK.

What do you want them to say though?
We already know that Pace wants to keep Dyche for the longer term and it would seem that a new contract is on the table.
Until he signs it, what else is there to be said?

I think Nixon is getting sick of Burnley fans asking about Dyche signing his contract.
He replied to one this morning, stating no other club is in for him. He should sign where he is wanted.

I should have been more specific…. I was referring to the recent posts about who is on the board, and who isn’t. When they are joining and when they aren’t, who is leaving the board and who isn’t. I think this info should really be in the public domain.

Something on a scale of 1-10 wouldn’t go amiss, 1 being unlikely & 10 being likely, what are the chances of SD signing? Were the negotiations encouraging & how as SD reacted to what’s been offered, nobody is expecting concrete information but some sort of clue are the signs encouraging would be welcome.

Got to say that quote makes a lot of sense. I do think Dyche is starting to look to his own future, problem for him is that only we want him. It must be driving him mad.Long Time Lurker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:10 amDave Checketts might disagree

Hi Jakub, are you a betting person? Maybe you can get odds at the bookies. I wouldn't expect Alan Pace or Sean Dyche to say any more than they have each already said - until they are both ready to announce a new contract has been signed.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:35 amSomething on a scale of 1-10 wouldn’t go amiss, 1 being unlikely & 10 being likely, what are the chances of SD signing? Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
The club's directors are all recorded on Companies House.
www.gov.uk/get-information-about-a-company (it's free to search).
Quick search term: "Alan Gary Pace" will find the relevant Burnley FC details.
These show that David Wayne Checketts was appointed a director of Burnley FC Holdings Limited on 30 December 2020.
Also search term "Alan Pace" will find ALK Capital Limited.
David Checketts is not one of the 3 directors of ALK Capital Limited: Pace, Hunt and Smith, only.

But, Dave Checketts is not a director of ALK Capital Limited (registered in the UK) which I think is what CT was referencing.
And, it has been reported that Dave Checketts is leading the Latter Day Saints mission in London until the end of June.
If I may quote my own post:

Hi Newcastle, that's a fascinating little article, from 2019 on ALK Capital, Alan Pace and Dave Checketts.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:06 pmHe is not one of the directors but the fact that he was heavily involved in the failed takeover of Sheffield he must have some capacity with them.

So, I'm going to make a guess that Dave Checketts may be a director of ALK Capital in the US, alongside Alan Pace. I'm not sure if the US has the same regulations on public disclosure on directorships etc of non-public companies. We do know from Companies House that Dave Checketts is not a director of the UK registered company "ALK Capital Limited."

I think we are typing and posting about the same time. I've amended/edited my post to distinguish ALK Capital Limited, registered in UK from at least one other company, with a similar "ALK Capital..." name registered in the US.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:27 pmTrue however it very much looks like he is heavily involved in ALK.

That makes us all correct, I believe.
I doubt it's got anything to do with passing the Directors and Owners test. The leader of the UK mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints would have no problem passing D&O requirements.

Anyone think SD is waiting to see if the board back up the rhetoric this summer and could he even go on garden leave on a sabbatical when his contract expires if we haven't backed him and no other teams come in for him?

Pace then formed the U.K. ALK in 2020 with Checketts as an advisor. I would suggest this is so they could pass any potential owners test.
Checketts is then as you mention been brought on a Burnley director

"Gardening leave" is when an employer continues to pay the member of staff while refusing to let him do the work. Not the same thing as someone coming to the end of a contract and taking time out.
But yes, it could happen, if he wants a break. Or if he wants to make himself available.

Gardening leave is a decision made by the employer and not the employee when they have to continue paying you but don't want you in there. It happened to me once and I got myself 11 weeks paid holiday while I waited to start a new job.

In most other environments that method would be fast tracked towards a private conversation leading to a settlement agreement, especially when a impasse between the employer & employee is current, gardening leave is an alternative to disciplinary action & happens usually whilst an investigation is being carried out, it’s very similar to a suspension.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 3:25 pmGardening leave is a decision made by the employer and not the employee when they have to continue paying you but don't want you in there. Not necessarily. In my case, I'd handed in my notice having got a new job but I was on 13 weeks notice. On the Thursday of the 2nd week of that notice I was given an hour to clear my desk and get out. The good news, apart from being paid for just over 11 weeks for doing nothing, was it was summer and the weather was good.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 3:35 pmIn most other environments that method would be fast tracked towards a private conversation leading to a settlement agreement, especially when a impasse between the employer & employee is current, gardening leave is an alternative to disciplinary action & happens usually whilst an investigation is being carried out, it’s very similar to a suspension.
I suspect that Neil Hart, given the abruptness of his departure, was initially placed on gardening leave.

Every situation will be different, generally if they want you out but can’t find reasonable grounds to dismiss you or have already disciplined you without following ACAS & they want to avoid an employment tribunal, normally it’s standard protocol to invite you for a protected conversation & I think once you accept & you refuse the settlement offer, it’s inadmissible in a employment tribunal providing the conversation was carried out correctly. I’m familiar with employment law.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 3:41 pmNot necessarily. In my case, I'd handed in my notice having got a new job but I was on 13 weeks notice. Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
We placed Coyle on gardening leave to prevent him taking the Bolton job initially until such time as we'd agreed a compensation package for him. Apparently, just after he'd left Bolton, Gartside was as at the Turf and said we should have probably been paying them to take him.
In my case, they wanted me off site but were obliged to continue paying me. It was just that but it is no fun being marched off site like that.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
Hi Jakub, gardening leave is most often used when an employee has resigned to join a competitor and is subject to a notice period, typically this is 1 month, 3 months or 6 months. Agree, that the procedures you describe will often also apply in managing an employee's exit or while disciplinary investigations are performed.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 3:50 pmEvery situation will be different, generally if they want you out but can’t find reasonable grounds to dismiss you or have already disciplined you without following ACAS & they want to avoid an employment tribunal, normally it’s standard protocol to invite you for a protected conversation & I think once you accept & you refuse the settlement offer, it’s inadmissible in a employment tribunal providing the conversation was carried out correctly. Quote from UK Gov website:
Gardening leave
Your employer may ask you not to come into work, or to work at home or another location during your notice period. This is called ‘gardening leave’.
You’ll get the same pay and contractual benefits.
www.gov.uk/handing-in-your-notice/gardening-leave
wikipedia says similar.

That’s how it was with mePaul Waine wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 4:14 pmHi Jakub, gardening leave is most often used when an employee has resigned to join a competitor and is subject to a notice period, typically this is 1 month, 3 months or 6 months. Agree, that the procedures you describe will often also apply in managing an employee's exit or while disciplinary investigations are performed.
Quote from UK Gov website:
Gardening leave
Your employer may ask you not to come into work, or to work at home or another location during your notice period. This is called ‘gardening leave’.
You’ll get the same pay and contractual benefits.

wikipedia says similar.

Re: Dyche to sign new contract !
It's getting pretty bad on this thread if we are discussing experience of "gardening leave" rather than if/when Sean Dyche will/has signed a new contract.

There maybe a position arising at the FA shortly, which our Sean could be interested in!

Southgate has been told his job is safe
, regardless of results at the Euros. Hes become the new Gordon Taylor and we know how many years it took to get shut of him

I’ve yet to hear anybody suggest anything credible regarding replacements apart from EH which is a tall order, that’s probably 1 of reasons why he’s still in position, sometimes it’s better the devil you know.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 5:53 pmSouthgate has been told his job is safe

Wonder if dyche is waiting for pace and Co to make the remaining payments for the club to Mike garlick ...if things were as bad as what they sounded between SD and MG he could be making sure garlick isn't coming back as chairman before he commits to a new contract
