I’ve been looking recently. I think they’d be perfect for a second car. We drive long distances to visit our families so they wouldn’t be suitable for that at the moment. But for going to work, shopping and days out I think they’d be great. I’m just unsure of the secondhand market and whether the batteries would replacing almost immediately.

Watching a Jaguar iPace leave a Porsche Targa 911 4s for dead on the A34 yesterday was interesting

If you have never experienced acceleration in an EV, it is quite something. The power delivery is instant, 100% and constant. No clutch slipping, no gear changes. just one continuous flow of torque and power. Even the van that i had on trial up to 40-50mph was leaving cars behind. There is something a little eerie when you see a Tesla go, you just hear the soft noise of an electrical motor and the noise of tyres on tarmac as they reach 60mph on 3-4 seconds (2.5 if you have the P100D with ludicrous mode enabled). I was talking to a guy at Tesla in Canary Wharf about the acceleration and his claim was that the Tesla would hit 60mph on the road faster than it would if you dropped it from the roof of Canary Wharf.

For all these benefits, for me there is nothing like the sound of a ICE on full song, especially if it is something like a rally car. MK2 Escort, Metro 6R4, RS200, Audi Quattro S1 or the Lancia Delta S4. And in later years, Colin McRae flat out in a Subaru Impreza in the Welsh forests.

Used to regularly drive a Renault Zoe EV and that was always a laugh tbh.
Fully agree about the sound of an ICE though, we had someone pop into the workshop in their recently purchased Lambo last year .....

All day long. As stated in a much earlier thread, I drove a Tesla Model X. The acceleration is phenomenal, especially in ludicrous mode. I thought it was gonna take to the skies, it really is that quick.
