Vaccine passports for the Euro's

Post by Vegas Claret » Tue Jun 08, 2021 6:55 pm

Euro games at Wembley first to take vaccine passports

UEFA has released its guidelines for people heading to Wembley Stadium during the European Football Championship.
Anyone aged 11 and over will need to show they have had a negative lateral flow test within 48 hours of the stadium opening, or show they have had two doses of a COVID vaccine at least 14 days before kick off.

Vaccine status should be shown with the NHS app or Scottish or Welsh vaccination record services.

Previous trials at the stadium, including the FA Cup final, only required a negative test.

Games are due to be played at the stadium on 13, 18 and 22 June - with the 18 June date a showdown between England and Scotland.

This year, the Euros are being played across the continent - with Wembley one of the host stadia.

Hampden Park in Glasgow is also hosting games, but the entry requirements are so far just staggered entry times.

Where on the app can you find if you’ve had the jabs?

Yes, strange if this is a UEFA ruling and nothing to do with the government with Wembley needing the vaccine passports but Hampden Park anyone can just turn up for the games.

It's a different app Mike. I think this is the track and trace app but if you download the normal NHS app and enter your info there is a section saying "Check your COVID-19 Vaccine Record" and under this field it will show you how many vaccines you have had, the dates on which you had them and which vaccine you had and the specific batch number.

How does one get a lateral flow test?

I’ve had a couple of tests at the hospital before some surgery and they said if I don’t get a text message within 24 hours then assume the results were clear.

I would obviously need some evidence to get into Wembley but not sure the difference between how the tests are conducted and the results are shared?

Are they going to issue paper versions for those who aren't confident of using smart phones?

Bit of a bummer if they aren't.

I am not sure to be honest, I have only heard of negative tests/vaccine records being accessed via phone where they can scan the QR code, I haven't seen any paper versions though I am sure they'd be available.

Yes all you need to do is log in to that app and all your vaccine info is there.

Except if you haven’t logged in before the NHS are saying it might take over a week to process your registration

You can set up your vaccination status ‘passport’ on the myGP app, 14 days after your second vaccination.

Bit late in the day to start imposing rules like that. Not too bothered about missing out in the ballot now really. Too much hassle just for a day at the footy.

Yes, it was quick to register but then they have to process it, verify identity etc. Said it would take 6-8 days to process when I did it earlier so will see how long it actually takes

Just had my registration confirmed so came back a lot faster than indicated. Pity I’ve not got a ticket for the Euros.

We went to both England games at Middlesbrough and had to show negative lateral flow tests on our phones at the turnstiles.

Tests had to be taken within 48 hours of kick off time for each game. Everyone over the age of 16 was checked for their negative test result before entry to the stadium.

For the Euro games at Wembley everyone over the age of 11 will need to be able to show on their phone a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours of kick off.
Depending where you are sitting in the stadium there is a specific entry time window, similar to Burnley's game with Liverpool.
We are going to the Croatia game on Sunday and have to enter between 1pm-1.30pm. for the 2pm kick off.
We have friends who have an entry time of 11.30am to 12 noon, glad we don't need to be sat inside at that time.

The lateral flow test kits can be picked up free of charge from most pharmacies or can be ordered online from the NHS website which are then delivered by mail next day free of charge.

Doing the test at home is quite straightforward, when completed you need to report the result of your test online via the NHS after scanning or putting in manually the serial code of your test kit.
Both times when I did the test and reported the result to the NHS I received both a text and an email within 2 minutes confirming my negative result.

I then had to show the text/email at Middlesbrough before I was allowed entry through the turnstiles.
I will have to do the same thing at Wembley on Sunday presuming that I get another negative result when I take the test again on Saturday.

It might seem like a bit of a chore for some people but it only takes a couple of minutes to do the test at home.
We are quite happy to do this if it means we can attend the Euros at Wembley.

Strange how they're seemingly relying on lateral flow tests given how dubious the results are.
I went for a PCR test last Sunday and was asked by Public Health England representatives if I'd mind taking part in a study - I did a lateral flow test and a PCR test one after the other and the results were different. Confirmed COVID from the PCR while the lateral flow showed negative (I'd been testing negative all week at home but I knew I had it)

Risk with any home testing and self-certification is that people just lie about the results. All you have to do is scan the QR code and say you were negative. Would be incredibly selfish, but I can imagine some people doing that if they don't have symptoms than risking a positive test and not being able to do whatever it is they want to do. Would be incredibly selfish but not surprising.

Hope you like being in the house then.

It’s heading towards vaccine passports required for everything. You can almost be certain that the premier league will introduce it for the new season.

If that's the way businesses want to go, then fine. But there's no justification in it. It's going to create a 2 tier society.

They're not as accurate as the other tests but it's mainly about risk mitigation. Those with Covid with no symptons will be a pretty small number, if you identify most through the lateral flow test then it will be an even smaller number.

Same.

Early 30’s. Why I need a vaccine to fight a virus that I might not even know I’ve had is beyond me. That’s forgetting there is no evidence of having covid more than once. Fine I’d have it if it stopped be passing it on if I did get it or could get it again but it doesn’t. Madness.

Where are all the stories about people catching it again and again?

People have been scared into it, you can’t go on holiday, you can’t go on the football etc etc.

People have lost the plot over the past 18 months or so.

Totally agree. I've had the jab because my mums fella is in the vulnerable group. But I won't be showing pubs, clubs or the football club anything to do with my medical status.

I couldn’t care less about having to prove I have had the vaccine.

The tests take a minute to do. Can't see the fuss.

I've been doing 2 a week, I have elderly and vulnerable relatives (one of whom is a silly sod who won't get a jab), so puts my mind at ease I won't inadvertently kill 'em.

If you haven’t had the jab you are more likely to get Covid and carry it unaware. You could then pass it on to people. Not a dig at you but it just seems a bit selfish.

I Googled ''lateral flow test'' and the 2nd result was this. Easy.
