If we could have a player from one of todays games

Post by karatekid » Fri Jun 11, 2021 9:28 pm

Choose a player you would like to see play for us from the days Euro games.

Today it has to be Leonado Spinazzola of Italy for me. Class left back.

Mussolini's grandson has actually signed for lazio, plays right wing too.

Merih Demiral, a defender who scores goals at this level is worth his weight in gold

Immobile.

Absolutely the opposite of his name (in English). Proper handful, really busy, and always seems to find space in the box, even if he doesn't always get the ball.

Chiellini would do too...

Insigne was class never stopped driving the team on and scored a class goal.He reminded me of Roberto Baggio.
I think Italy will take some beating and make the final if not win the tournament.
I agree picking from many clubs on talent not press reputation works, unlike the "stars" we've got lumbered with by Southgate

The Foreign players always seem to Shine on the World stage. Where ours seem scared to attempt anything spectacular. Maybe Grealish could attempt a few mazy runs on goal to give us hope?

Grealish is an undoubted talent - just hope he keeps his feet on the ground. But I do have a feeling that the Croats will have him targeted for some interesting challenges - just hope he’s protected and comes out of it unscathed?

He may well do but I don’t think he’s gonna start ahead of Foden or Mount, and I think Southgate will want some pace up there alongside Kane so will probably opt for Sterling.

An embarrassment of attacking talent.......defensively, not too encouraging, especially as none of them have a played together enough. We need to score more than we will inevitably let in (simplistic, but true, I’m afraid)

Dan James on loan - would give us a counter attacking threat which for a team that spends a lot of time defending we don’t really have…

No comparison in footballing style between PL and Bundesliga. Another shout for Embolo for me. Him and insigne would be serious striking assets

There isn’t but a striker who struggles to score goals in the Bundesliga is hardly likely to in the Premier League.

Big Rom. Remember when he made our centre halves look like weak little boys in a game against Utd at the Turf a couple of years ago.

I remember him brushing Michael Keane away at Goodson too and Keano is no light weight.

I really don’t know. For most of the years I’ve been watching football they’ve been poor then all of a sudden we get these recent years. And their best player is missing.

Yes, I agree. They used to be there for shooting practice.
I don't know anything about their domestic leagues but their exports (to Leicester for example) are really good.

If Woody moved on for big money, we could do worse than take a punt on Kieffer Moore, or that Finnish lad who scored today, both looked a handful for defenders, and both would also be handy helping out our set piece defending.

OK, so who has been picked on press reputation in our squad and who isn't there who should be? This should be good coz all I can see are the best English players currently playing in The Prem & a couple from the Bundesliga.

Sorry but are you Rio Ferdinand in disguise? You need to do a bit of homework on the Italian players as they are all from the top 6 fashionable clubs. The fact is they are the best players in the country & unsurprisingly they play for the top clubs.

Keeper from Milan (very fashionable club)
2 centre backs you've quoted from Juve (enough said)
Florenzi an ever present in the setup and at Roma for many many years. Now at PSG.
Barella the same, an ever present in the setup under Mancini and now doing very well at Inter THE CHAMPIONS.
Jorginho (Chelski)
Insigne / Immobile (very big clubs in Napoli & Lazio who always get to Europe / top 6 club in Italy).

The only real unknown is Spinazzola but has had a good few years at Roma nonetheless.
The only unfashionable club is Sassuolo with Locatelli and Berardi but it aint that unfashionable, they've been punching above their weight for many years so no surprise there are some players in the squad.

We don't need him to score goals, we've got Chris Wood for that!! But those attacking runs attracting defenders towards him would be nice giving Woody even more space in the box!!

I've always been impressed with Boyata, the Belgian central defender. He seems cool under pressure, seems to cope with big and small attackers and often manages to get a leg in for neat tackles.

The right age for us too!

Got to be Ronaldo from today’s game. Most goals ever in Euros and only 3 short of of most international goals ever which is 109. Legend who should finish his career at TM.
