Re: Today's Games
I might watch Scotland tonight as everyone has been banging on for days about how well they played against England….just checked and yes they have scored zero goals in the tournament.
I suppose the old adage of play poorly and pick up points rather than playing like the 1970 Brazil team whilst scoring absolutely zilch springs to mind.
The Scots remind me of someone that excitedly ventures out to one of GIADJ’s infamous parties and ends up with a watching brief.

Re: Today's Games
Germany 0 Hungary 1
Portugal 1 France 0
Who else but Ronaldo from the spot, he now has yet another record on his CV, He is now the top European scorer at major tournaments ever, overtaking Miroslav Klose's old record.
20 goals combined in major tournaments, 13 at the Euro's, 7 at the WC, and you somehow suspect he's not finished just yet either.
And he's now just one shy of the overall record currently held by the Iranian Ali Daei, but I doubt he'll be holding onto that record for much longer.
BTW if these scores stay the same England will play France in the last 16.

Who’s on VAR? Michael Oliver?
Worst refereeing performance since Leeds v Burnley.

Another France goal and Hungary hold out then we play Hungary at Wembley next - come on!
Re: Today's Games
The first one was definitely a penalty. The second certainly shouldn't have been.

Re: Today's Games
Theydon’t agree with the ref. They cover themselves by saying “not enough to overturn”.
If VAR had any balls they have sent him to review but he’s so up his own backside he’d have given it anyhow.

2-1 France a brace for Benzema, Portugal now heading out as it stands. and England would play Hungary.

I feel like the Germans will score but credit has to go to Hungary. They defend a lot like Burnley do.
If Germany struggle to break them down, so will England.

Re: Today's Games
Pogba has played some lovely balls forward. A much better quality of game than the England game.

Re: Today's Games
2-2 Portugal-France another clinical penalty from Ronaldo, he now joint level all time international goal scorer, and he might even break that record this evening at this rate.
England-Portugal again, but the way it's gone tonight you sense there will be another twist in the tale.
Good game this one as you'd expect with the quality on show.

At what point do France and Portugal start playing for a draw?

Re: Today's Games
Dangerous game to play for Portugal in particular as 1 German goal would totally change the picture, France can be slightly more relaxed about this game ending even as they're already through whatever.

Poor Hungary. Deserved so much more. Germans get lucky again. Let's hope England can put them to bed in the next game.
Fantastic drama today though, international football at it's best.

I think whoever we played would beat us , rather play the Germans. Not because we can beat them but because there is always something special playing them.

Re: Today's Games
Don't fancy us against the Germans they've really hit form in their last couple of games, and it would be sod's law that after being just minutes from going out they'll probably go on to win the whole thing now.

Rather have Germany than Portugal and certainly France. Can't wait for Tuesday.
Re: Today's Games
They weren't in form tonight. They scraped through. Feel for Hungary.

They’ve conceded 5 goals in 3 games - there are frailties in there.

Re: Today's Games
They did scrap through, and yes you do have to feel for Hungary, they shipped 3 late goals to Portugal, pushed France & Germany all the way, and yet still bow out. However if Germany hit the heights they did against Portugal it'll be a tough evening for England, and our lack of big game experience could be telling.
We do have the weapons to hurt them if we get the ball to our pacy players such as Rashford, Saka & Sterling, but I'll be surprised if we keep a clean sheet, so to win we'll need to score 2, or face the dreaded lottery of penalties again.
Th good thing is we've at least got home backing, and if the fans can't get up for Germany then they never will.
Big prize on offer as the winner of this tie has a fair shot of making the final looking at the draw.
Re: Today's Games
England have been really good in patches - some brilliant attacking play - but have played dreary, ineffective football most of the time. We also have a reasonable defence. It all means we won’t score many but will still stand a fair chance of getting past Germany or any other team. It’ll be close, as always with England

Re: Today's Games
Not true at all. It'll be tight either way, a lot will depend on our, England's, approach.
Give the Germans too much time, too much respect and we've had it.
