Very upsetting, not sure why the cameras kept on rolling. I’m a resus officer and carry the crash bleep at work so it’s something I see on a weekly basis but I understand it’s very traumatic for most people, and kids will have been watching it.

He was shocked very early and they stopped compressions shortly afterwards. Hopefully the outcome will be good as it often is with an early shock for VF/pVT.

I doubt he will ever play again. Very sad

The medics deserve medals for their efforts, as do the players who formed a shield to stop the gawping press and others. What we witnessed there was something non of us ever want to witness on a game of football. Well done to all the teams who worked so hard on the lad.

One of the most traumatic things I’ve ever seen. No idea why the BBC didn’t cut to studio to preserve the lad, and his family, the dignity and respect that they deserve in such a moment. When his wife came pitch side I feared the very worst, but God bless the paramedics who have clearly saved his life.

It reminds us all how fleeting the ride we’re all on together can be. All the best to him.

His agent has just confirmed he’s spoken to Eriksens father who’s informed him that he is awake, breathing and able to speak. Great news. Fingers crossed for a full recovery, good luck.

Madness they are being forced to play tonight after what they’ve just gone through, regardless that he’s okay.

Edit - it appears the players have made the choice…

I’ve heard all the players on both teams agreed they wanted to play. Tough for me to argue with those affected, if true.

Players have requested that the game restarts tonight. Fair play, nothing wrong with that. They've not been forced into it.

Moral compass out the window.
We really do live in sick, TV money driven times.
How are the players meant to be able to perform after what has happened?

Good luck, Christian Eriksen. My prayers for a successful recovery.

My personal experience: I was playing 5-a-side, 62 years old, when I had a heart attack. I didn't collapse, I just felt "unwell" - thought I'd got a virus on my chest. One of my friends looked at me and said he'd take me to hospital. When he was younger he'd collapsed while playing football. He woke up in hospital after open heart surgery. So, his experience gave him the knowledge that I needed medical attention. Heart attack was confirmed within 20 mins of reaching hospital - luckily less than 5 mins from where we were playing. Looked after overnight, angiogram in the morning, emergency angioplasty in the afternoon - after "blue light" to the specialist cardiology hospital - two stents and the recovery starts.

I wasn't watching Denmark v Finland, though was thinking I'd watch the second half.

I don't have any problem about tv showing what was happening on the pitch and the urgent treatment Christian Eriksen required and received. You will only survive a heart attack if the people who are there react very speedily. Maybe being aware of today's events one or two might get training in how to use a defibrillator. That will be good news. Even if you don't do this, you will better understand the need for very urgent response... and that little bit of knowledge may help save someone's life.

Take care, everyone.

EDIT: Just seeing the comments about the game re-starting. My 5-a-side colleagues resumed playing after I'd been taken to the hospital. I think they made the right choice. We were all good friends and though my 5-a-side days were finished I've joined them for curry nights and (alcohol-free) beer nights regularly since.

Yes Eriksen's health is clearly the number one priority in all this, and thankfully he is now awake and stabilised, whether he plays again is a secondary concern I'd imagine to him and his family and friends.

Well done to all concerned for their speedy response in such traumatic circumstances, this incident certainly puts football into genuine perspective, and at the end of the day it is only a game and there is far more important things in life.

Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Christian

Southgate and our players don’t even want to speak to the media. And rightly so. Yet eriksens teammates and opponents are being made to play.

Excellent from the referee too in realising that quick medical attention was needed and getting the staff on the pitch so quickly.

Upon reflection of the situation and thinking about the way that TV deals with things such like streakers etc. It should have been switched off almost immediately as soon as his head touched the floor.

Apologies for any comments may have riled people. Was in shock myself.

It is of course possible that Eriksen himself, who is apparently talking in hospital, has requested the game go ahead. None of us know. Obviously depends him unwell he is. Probably best to trust the players, who are “in the know”, to make the right decision.

I wasn’t keen on the BBC showing the pictures even if we as viewers felt it hard not to peep. The broadcaster should have taken the decision for the player’s dignity. But Paul’s above post has given me food for thought on that one. Such a high profile incident being televised will almost certainly save many, many lives.

Not a chance will eriksens teammates and opponents been made to play, they will all want too after consulting the authorities and would also think eriksens family will have been consulted.

I'm surprised the game is resuming this evening, but if it's the players who've made that choice then fair enough I suppose.

However I'm still in shock from just seeing the incident on telly, so I can't imagine how scrambled their minds must be, and I wouldn't have thought they'd be able to focus on the rest of the match after witnessing that trauma.

I did wonder that myself. It does seem incredible this match is resuming. You can only assume that the players have had some very positive/reassuring news and maybe there has even been input from Eriksen.

On 5live they said he spoke to his teammates from his hospital bed, and that he is well. I’m stunned, and also relieved.

The players decision, they are not being forced. Everyone has an opinion and if they differ it doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong or vice versa. They may feel they want to do this.

Thoughts with Eriksen and his family.

The mental strength it must take from every one of them is hard to comprehend. You have to respect their decision.

Perhaps the players decided the greatest show of respect and solidarity would be to continue the game. Some will criticise the decision but watching this game resume has made me feel a whole lot better and hopefully it will have the same effect on others. Seeing the strength from the players after witnessing such a traumatic event, Id say it’s inspirational.

I think it was allowed to stand because it hit the defender before reaching him.
