I'd certainly give him a whirl if it's still the same twenty minutes or so into the second half.

Turned it over to watch World Superbikes, where things actually happen. The England match is just so boring.
Re: England v Croatia
To think, if we’d have managed to sign Phillips a couple of years back, he wouldn’t be playing today

Re: England v Croatia
Promising first 15, but we couldn't convert when the chances came, and Croatia have come right back into things in the latter part of the half.
Walker has been appalling, and the one time he got a chance to put a good ball in he shanked it straight behind the goal.
Foden looks the one most likely to open the door, but we need to get him on the ball more.
I'd give it 15 minutes, and then the likes of Grealish has to be unleashed.

If Walker doesn’t sort himself out in the first 15 mins of the second half it makes sense to get Shaw on and put Trippier at right back to give us better balance.

Re: England v Croatia
To be fair it is pretty hot and impossible to play high tempo for 90 minutes. This is why football is not a summer game imho.

Re: England v Croatia
Which is exactly how it should have started. Southgate really does have a fixation with the disaster prone Walker.
Re: England v Croatia
Game management has been quite good. We couldn't keep that start up for 45 minutes. Did get a bit subdued as it went on. Wonder what the temperature is pitch side. It's bound to play a part. As tournament opening games go for us it's not the worst opening 45 minutes.

I think James is more likely to come on for Walker than Shaw.

Need to get Kane involved
Re: England v Croatia
Not so sure after that poor pass
Re: England v Croatia
He needs to get himself more involved. He’s supposed to be our talisman and captain.
Re: England v Croatia
The Scots will fancy winning the group based on the evidence of this grim affair...

Yep. Great ball from him. Come on Southgate, release our attacking flair and batter them.

Phillips very impressive. Reads the game so well. Recognized we needed someone pushing forward when everyone else was playing back.
Kane vs post and post wins. Should have scored but looks bad.

Re: England v Croatia
" Stirling looks sharp " Jenas needs to stick to the one show even though he's boring on that.
Re: England v Croatia
Another heat affected game, but its cooler than Baku.
Time to take kane off. He's playing like ashley barnes just back from injury. The rest have looked OK. Not really tested, I guess, mings, rice, pick Ford. Mount has looked a quality player.

I was going to post the same thing, I'd swap him for Grealish or Rashford at this point

I was trying to work out for the first 5 minutes who it was with the Jimmy Somerville shaped head and hair.....

Re: England v Croatia
Pathetic booking that, and he only brought out the yellow when Croatia started complaining, he was playing on at first.
Rashford on for Foden, that change does make sense as Foden hasn't been quite as productive 2nd half.
Re: England v Croatia
Surprised its rashford. Thought U-boat would get the nod.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 3:23 pmI was going to post the same thing, I'd swap him for Grealish or Rashford at this point

Sterling wasting a good chance, a 2nd would be nice to calm the nerves.
