Scotland v Czech Republic ....

Post by Clarets4me » Mon Jun 14, 2021 1:41 pm

Which of the following statements most closely represents your view ?

1) I'm Scottish or have Scottish roots, I'm 100% behind our gallant lads !!

2) They're a British team, I'll always want them to do well, except against England ( or my other UK side ) !!

3) Winds me up how anti-English the Scots are, but I'm bigger than that, good luck to them !!

4) Utterly indifferent, be good to see Vydra get some game time !!

5) F*** 'em !! Love to see them crying into their Tennants, and I hope they get spanked !!

Scotland win as I reckon it'll make Fridays game more interesting if they have the chance to go above us.

partly 1 (I have Scottish blood), but mostly 2 for me - however I'd also like to see Vydra do well

Referee is Daniel Siebert from Berlin - he refereed our Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

When you see Scotland's lack of depth I've never understood why Scott Arfield doesn't at least make the squad from time to time. Surely he's better than some of the fringe players.

After being in a bar in Aberdeen for a Scotland v England qualifier which started off as friendly banter. Scholes scored and it turned to pure hatred for us and the English. We left early to save our skins. Absolute tossers!

So it’s #5 for me.

Nor can I, apart from the fact that he's got 19 caps for Canada, having switched his allegiance in 2016 ! ;)

Back in the day, just drinking a pint of Guinness meant you qualified for the Republic. ;)

If England can forget the hype - "the noise", as Dyche would put it - they'll destroy both these teams.

Cascarino won 88 Caps over 14 years on the basis of his Irish Grandfather on his mother's side. Eight years after his first cap, his mother confided in him that she'd been adopted as a girl ....

The Czechs must have some good players if a regular for a premier league side can only make the bench.

Should have probably had a penalty there, defender stepped across and blocked him. The bar set by VAR at this tournament is very high. I think it would have to be a truly catastrophic error before they will even check something.

Penalty all day long that - he made a movement towards the opponent and failed to play the ball - but it's one of those penalties that are hardly ever given.

Always impressed at these tournaments by the various international guest TV analysts command and clarity of the English language; the French, The Dutch, The Belgians and the Danes etc all perfectly spoken.

This has been the only match so far where subtitles have been necessary.

Anywhere else on the pitch it is a free kick and a yellow card all day long, but for some reason the laws of the game are different in the box. If it is a foul it is a pen.
