Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Sounds like a very pussy footed approach (perhaps understandably).
These are not safe standing seats but seats that allow people to stand safely during key moments. Effectively, they’re proving the concept of standing safely without actually saying that’s what they’re doing.

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Have they all adopted the same approach - suggesting it’s for only standing during key moments?

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
It’s excellent news to see another club in the Premier League do it. They have to word it like that because standing is still not permitted.
That’s Wolves, Spurs, Man U & Liverpool for next season. I thought the rail seats at Spurs were excellent.

I think they are wording the "trial" of rail seats to rightly be sensitive to those fans opposed to standing areas in their support groups. They know its the future, and they feel the need to provide assurances to some fans that it is reversible should it be necessary (which it wont).
A good development and an understandable approach showing that LFC are still in touch with their fan base.

Great news.
Still, I find it bizarre that after all this time standing on terraces is deemed to be the culprit. There is nothing dangerous about standing. It’s policing, stadium access, and ticketing that were the problems in the past.

May as well keep the seats, pointless if you can't goon

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
I’m all for safe standing, and look forward to its expansion. Anyone saying terraces were not dangerous has never been in a packed longside when we scored in the 70’s… when those surges started from the top it was terrifying for anyone under 18 or over 50…. You had no control you were just swept two or three or four rows lower than you started. Anyone saying that wasn’t dangerous is misremembering, or never experienced it.

If we ever get a new CFS, it would be great for it to be designed with rail seats

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Good to see that the work has started at OT.
Paul Fletcher was very much against any form of safe standing when he was our CEO, Lee Hoos was very pro safe standing, Dave Baldwin was more reserved. Neil Hart was asked about his views and he had to ask what safe standing was.

You should stop sitting on the fence and just share your thoughts on Neil Hart CTClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 3:32 pmGood to see that the work has started at OT.

Any plans you’re aware of for the Turf? These would be perfect in CFS? Out of interest, do they help increase capacity or exactly the same?

None as far as I know. The CEO was asked last year and that was the answer he gave, and we've had nothing from the club since.

This is likely to be a significant report on the safety afforded by rail seats in areas of persistent standing in football grounds

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Aye would be great to have a 6-8k capacity safe standing cheap stand for the atmosphere it would create. You could then give the away fans a slice of the Bob Lord or part if JML, ideallyWokingclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 1:52 pmIf we ever get a new CFS, it would be great for it to be designed with rail seats

Brilliant. Although old Trafford is one of the tightest grounds for space.
Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Apart from the Celtic debacle, I never in a single match experienced the slightest problem about finding a place to stand on the Turf Moor terracing and not one altercation or pushing into in a negative fashion in spite of plenty of human crowd mingling like celebrating a goal.
... And that's from 1975 until the new stands in the 90s.
No health and safety issue at all.

It’s shocking in that away corner. You have no option but to stand in some parts.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 7:08 pmBrilliant. Although old Trafford is one of the tightest grounds for space.

Re: 7,800 rail seats going in at Anfield
Got to agree. I stood on the Longside since about 1973. It was never dangerous, you knew what to expect, it was a part of the atmosphere.Pstotto wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 7:25 pmApart from the Celtic debacle, I never in a single match experienced the slightest problem about finding a place to stand on the Turf Moor terracing and not one altercation or pushing into in a negative fashion in spite of plenty of human crowd mingling like celebrating a goal.

Who remembers that night at Anfield packed into that corner of the Anfield Rd end. Now that was a crush.

Excellent, wasn't aware of Chelsea installing them. How we got it so wrong when we put the new seats in the cricket field stand two years ago.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 12:00 amChelsea have put rail seats in parts of the ground

Not really. It wasn’t permitted to stand. Still isn’t. And that stand will be the first to go. So would have been wasted money.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 7:55 amExcellent, wasn't aware of Chelsea installing them. Interesting stuff - Premier League confident that safe standing trials will be allowed later this season
