Some years you look at them and think "Oh God" but for some reason that looks a balanced set of fixtures this year.

Really good start for us, in my opinion.

I’m not arrogant or anything but we should be targeting 13 points from our opening 5 home games, even before looking at the away fixtures too.

I've not had time to study them really, I spent too much time working out how I'd got 18 home games and 20 away games. Interesting first two away trips. Decent run in and I do like to play at home in the final game.

Some tough fixtures at the beginning of the season, good festive fixtures and not a bad tail end.

Tough 5 after the opener and BHA have a decent record ont’Turf. It is what it is, we play everyone twice.

Brentford away on the 12th March so hopefully many supporters will be able to tick that off their list as grounds should be back to full capacity by then.

It would have been the one when they murdered us on the Turf early 2012/13 season.

Just checked it and he did, teams were;

Burnley: Lee Grant, Kieran Trippier, David Edgar, Jason Shackell, Joseph Mills, Dean Marney (Sam Vokes 83), Marvin Bartley (Martin Paterson 45), Chris McCann, Junior Stanislas, Charlie Austin, Cameron Stewart (Ross Wallace 64). Subs not used: Brian Jensen, Michael Duff, Ben Mee, Brian Stock.

Brighton: Tomasz Kuszczak, Saltor Bruno, Adam El-Abd, Gordon Greer, Wayne Bridge, Liam Bridcutt, Gary Dicker, Andrew Crofts (Will Buckley 38), Kazenga LuaLua (Andrea Orlandi 79), Craig Mackail-Smith, Ashley Barnes. Subs not used: Casper Ankergren, Lewis Dunk, Inigo Calderon, Ryan Harley, Torbjorn Agdestein.

Targeting 4 wins and a draw? At least expectations aren't too high eh?

At least we get shut of the Man City away game early on.

Plenty of time to repair the goal difference after that. ;)

Good fixtures, I think.

Tough September and Jan/early Feb.

Last 3 games are also not the easiest if we’re in trouble so better make sure we’re not, but otherwise decent.

Yeah, you're right.

Let's target 5 points.

It's not 'expectation' as you have put it, it's a target (hence, targeting - as Dyche historically always has done with specific fixtures). Look at who those games are against, they're all teams that on paper we would be hoping to take points from at home. That's not to say it's an expectation, nobody said that except for you. Prior to last season, when we were pretty poor at home all told, we have heavily relied on our ability to take home points against the likes of Brighton, Palace, Norwich and Brentford.

That was my first reaction too. My last-remaining `ticks' are late in the season as well, when you'd hope we'll be back to full grounds

Be a novelty not playing Newcastle at home midweek though

Surely they are targeting 15 points? Why target 13? What does target 13 mean, if it doesn't mean expect 13?

To be fair 1 of those 5 games is Leeds, surely nobody not even Man City or PSG would target a home win against the self titled biggest club in the world

Based on our historical home form in the Premier League under Dyche against the teams around us. Last season was poor on this front, granted but was hopefully an anomaly.

Brighton, Palace, Norwich and Brentford - are most people looking at those home fixtures and being fearful? What on Earth do you think of the rest of the games then? If we want to maintain our status in this division, these are games we will be hoping to take maximum points in. Last season some shock results are the ones which propped us up (Emirates, Anfield, Goodison for example).

Hopefully we are less reliant on those types of games to keep us safe this coming season and can make our jobs easier by doing the business at home against teams that will undoubtedly also be in a relegation battle. Last season the draws at home against West Brom, Fulham, Brighton and loss to Newcastle kept us anxious quite a bit longer than we needed to be.

In our Premier League seasons we've started and ended at home in 2016/17 and 2019/20 and we've started and ended away in 2020/21 although we should have kicked off at home.

Pretty happy with those TBH, an excellent chance to put a few home wins on the board early in the season, and hopefully build up some momentum in our campaign, yes of course we have to play everybody twice, but if you can rack up a few wins in the opening weeks it doesn't half ease the pressure.

We can never take anything for granted in this league, but we should have a lot more than 2 points after 7 games this time, and therefore not chasing our tail as happened last season following our poor start.

Good festive fixtures as well, and thankfully for those who travel the Brentford game is late in the season, so those who want to tick their new stadium off their list should be able to do so all being well by that stage.

That late January international break from FIFA means that the Premier League has lost it's winter break this year and the world cup the following season is likely to make a mess for everyone - it will be difficult for those teams who don't get into their stride quickly.

As SD often says, "There are no easy games in the Premier League". We will gain points where it is not expected and we will drop points that people say are there for the taking. - happens every single season!

Apologies if it’s already been mentioned but are we going to go back to some sort of normal kick off times now instead of the ridiculousness of the staggered games last season?

Pleased we have avoided the promoted sides in the first six and good to get some of the top 6 early doors as they may not have all their Euros players ready.

We have to play each of the teams in the division twice over the season, we all know that. Just need to get off to a good start at home, especially if we are not able to travel to away games in the first month or two.

The staggering of the games last season was to ensure we could see our teams play.
