WTC final (Southampton)
This starts tomorrow and can run until the 23rd June due to there being a reserve day allotted.
Tough one to call, but I just have a sneaking feeling for NZ they look a well rounded outfit, and they must have benefitted from playing in English conditions already this summer, so if I was forced to pick a winner I'd favour the Kiwi's just.

With the forecast I’d say a draw.
If they get enough play I’d expect New Zealand to win over here with having a few warm up games against a poor opposition.

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
If it was a 5 match Test series I would expect NZ to win easily over here.
But there's too many variables at play.
Have the ICC prepared the wicket? It usually spins down there already. It might be like Mumbai if they prepare it.
Hopefully the forecast bad weather stays away.

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
Shame but I can’t see there being too much play given the forecast down there over the next few days

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
Yes it was, but due to Hampshire having a bio-secure environment they decided to switch it to there, which might favour India, but until we actually see the pitch who knows.
I didn't realise the weather forecast was so bad, even accounting for the English summer you'd expect at least a few dry days during June if nothing else, it would be a real shame if this historic showpiece was ruined by the weather, but sadly it doesn't sound very promising for the prospect of much play.

Well the weather has certainly broken now that's for sure. and it looks like being a washout at Southampton alas.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:27 am'a few dry days in June

It's even lashing down in London, so clearly the Scotland fans have taken the rain down with them as it's a glorious day here in Glasgow.

Decent cricket this morning.
India have made 41-0 but quite a bit of movement for the bowlers.

1st wicket for NZ 62-1, I'm just glad they're finally playing at last.
69-2 both openers gone.

Off for bad light, India 134-3 Kohli going well on 40. But NZ bowling well and keeping things tight.

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
It's been a great Test match despite the weather. The bowling has been magnificent and application shown by the batsman is top drawer.
It's the last day (6th) and is set up great.
Hopefully India set NZ around 150 to win with enough overs to take it on.

Some effort by the kiwis with the ball, hopefully they go on and do it.

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
NZ look to be leaving it a bit late to get these runs in time.
They don't want to be chasing 5 an over later on.
India could just bowl wide one side and pack the field. Bowl 2 bouncers an over etc..

Just 12 needed to win now.
The chase was timed to perfection by the coolest man in Cricket.
Fair play to India, they haven't employed any negative tactics.

Re: WTC final (Southampton)
Well done to the Kiwi's they deserve something after their efforts over the past few years, and a great shout by whoever decided to add the 6th day, without it this game would have probably drifted into a rain affected draw, but with it we got a cracking finish.
