New Zealand Clarets- Eng vs Sco with the Woods

Post by AotearoaClaret » Sat Jun 19, 2021 12:40 am

Not the best performance but a fantastic get together as always at one of the boys houses 1 hour north of Auckland.

We have been joined by very special guests ( and new members)Grant and Julie Wood who have been very supportive of our club (as has Chris)

Presentation of a traditional Maori fish hook from NZ Clarets last night after dinner to Chris, presented to his folks who will pass to him when they head back to England later this year.this fish hook represents strength, prosperity, health and determination.

On to the pub this afternoon (7am kick off here) and a late afternoon curry..... home tomorrow.

Hope everyone keeping safe and well UTC!

About 15 at this meet up. We just found two random Burnley fans in a pub in Warkworth. That's a story for another day!

This is absolutely wonderful. I do well to get 10-15 at a West Yorkshire Clarets meeting, just down the road, so you have my respect. Brilliant

Massive surprise but Chris paid for us all on the booze this afternoon..... arranged it with his mum and dad on the quiet..... unbelievable touch of class..... I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - he is a massive source of pride for us here in New Zealand.... very very proud kiwi clarets this afternoon..... cheers Big man we had a few on you and raised a glass to you too!

They’ve had a better meet up too this time in NZ. They haven’t had their breakfast and morning pint interrupted by me.

Hope you’ve enjoyed a good meet up and I hope the England performance looked better there than it did here.

Well done guys. Like as been said before. Hopefully NZ, Sydney & Melbourne clarets can get a big meet up somewhere in the “normal” future.

Still completely blown away by the gesture from big Chris.

I’ve got to say, if anyone had any doubt about big Chris’ mindset/character, then don’t worry- he comes from the best stock possible.

His mum and dad were stuck in with us all weekend- I think they saw some things that will stick in the mind for a few years and some tales for the players lounge lol, but I know for sure that we have made some friends for life.

Thanks again for everyone’s continued support on here

To be honest you have to say to both the Aussie and Kiwi Clarets they are outstanding for so far away and still get up to watch the team play at all hours .

Love to go to the Burnley brewing company in Melbourne if i ever get chance again .
