Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
As per title, they have under 2 weeks now to submit their accounts after a 3 months extension was granted due to the coronavirus pandemic
Their accounts are currently under review by the EFL, and its thought they were posting losses of 21m in March when the accounts should have been submitted.
They were hoping the sale of Adam Armstrong would allow them to player trade this summer, but having slapped a 25m price tag on his head, it appears they'll only be getting nearer only 15m as he is entering the final year of his contract, and the apparent suited clubs are tightening their belts.
Any cash received for Armstrong would be vastly reduced as Newcastle are due 40% of any money received over the 1.75m they paid for him.
Sounds very serious down the road, and with 5 players OOC, and several loan players returning to their parent clubs, with arguably their 2nd best player Harvey Elliott set not to return, it could be a difficult season for them year with their best 2 players gone.
Armstrong scored 28 goals and made 5 assists
Elliott scored 7 goals and made 11 assists
That's going to take some replacing, especially if they have no money and/or do get an embargo.
I know I shouldn't, but...

You paint a bleak picture Macca of them down the road.
Re: Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
An embarrrrrrgo would be most amusing, how much longer will Venky's pump money into this rotting carcass ?

Re: Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
There are a number of clubs that have yet to post accounts for 2019/20 including Watford and Newcastle, Derby of course have still not posted accounts for 2018/19 and may yet have to restate accounts going back to 2013/14 after the recent successful appeal by the EFL over Derby's amortisation practices.
I would not expect our friends down the road to be late considering Venky's put in another £5.25m in shares only two weeks ago

It's not looking great for them is it, and yet some fans still think life will be better in the Championship.
Venky's will no doubt throw more money at it, but next season could be a difficult one for them, relegation battle looming perhaps?
Surely with all these Championship clubs posting losses we can nab a bargain or two in this window. can't we.
I only hope BFC aren't in a similar position in a couple of years time, especially now we've taken on debts.
This just makes staying in the PL all the more vital to our immediate and longer term future.

Does that mean they will be more likely to sell Armstrong in the next two weeks, but less likely if that passes without a sale & they are embargoed?

I guess the question could be is how you define better? For lots of simple humble folk the 90 minutes just represents an enjoyable afternoon irrespective of the result providing the effort was applied, the championship financially isn’t to be feared if you cut your cloth accordingly & tailor your situation to the predicament you find yourself in, rovers finances were long in decline post JW days haemorrhaging money & it was a hot potato to the trust hence offloading to the Indian mob, any responsible club should manage whatever division.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 12:36 pmIt's not looking great for them is it, and yet some fans still think life will be better in the Championship.

Fair points and as a fan I can agree with a lot of that, however like it or not the financial aspect has too be a strong consideration, and if we were to fall into the Championship and were saddled with large debts we could quickly find ourselves in dire straits, as we were when we went down in 2010, and had to have a fire sale under Eddie Howe to balance the books, It's fine cutting your cloth accordingly, but that means that your better players will always be at the risk of leaving, and then you might find yourselves struggling to compete even in the Championship, as also happened for a few years following our 1st relegation from the PL.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 1:17 pmI guess the question could be is how you define better? I do agree on Rovers though they've been a basket for case for about a decade or so now, and if the Venky's weren't sustaining them they'd be in even deeper water.

Re: Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
True, but that’s why I mentioned the word responsible, nobody is forcing debts onto anybody, clubs are borrowing willingly & if things go pear shaped it’s nobody’s else’s fault but the people themselves who “saddled the clubs with large debts” it is possible to get relegated & make a few adjustments & ride a storm out if you are in a decent position to start with. It’s only “dire straits” because the position wasn’t good to deal with relegation a lack of structured contingency in the event.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 1:49 pmFair points and as a fan I can agree with a lot of that, however like it or not the financial aspect has too be a strong consideration, and if we were to fall into the Championship and were saddled with large debts we could quickly find ourselves in dire straits, as we were when we went down in 2010, and had to have a fire sale under Eddie Howe to balance the books, It's fine cutting your cloth accordingly, but that means that your better players will always be at the risk of leaving, and then you might find yourselves struggling to compete even in the Championship, as also happened for a few years following our 1st relegation from the PL.

Re: Blackburn could receive transfer embargo..
Someone mentioned above Venkys pumped another 5m into shares, maybe that's the figure that might save them from the embargo , however youd thing that still it's a sell before but type situation, as if not it's only prolonging the inevitable.

He did but I think Furphy might have been the first when it was Bill Bancroft sweeping the Longside.
