So. Kane, out of form, sussed by Internation Refs. Looking slow. But undroppable.

2 of Sterling, Saka, Rashford and Sancho. Saka, the only one to come away with an increased "bank balance" tonight. Kane too slow so need the pace of Sterling and Saka.

1 of Grealish, Mount or Foden. Grealish looked good 1st half. But did nothing. literally nothing 2nd. Foden for me.

2 of Rice, Phillips, Bellingham and Henderson. "Hendo" is a "captain", I like Rice but he's not looked great in these first three. Bellingham probably too young.

Defense picks itself apart from Right Back, Where Walker and James don't want to pass the ball forward. So Tripps for me. Plus our free kick taking from Saka and Shaw was naff, so Tipps' free kicks would be a bonus.

Can't see us getting through the next round, whomever we play TBH.

I think I disagree with everything you typed. I thought Kane looked sharp in the first half and got zero service in the 2nd.
Sancho came away with increased bank balance? Did he even touch the ball in the 6 minutes he was on the pitch?
Grealish was subbed off like 10 minutes into the 2nd half, wasn't he?
Rice is part of a defensive unit that has conceded 0 goals in 3 games, he's very much done his job and played his role.
Walker for me is streets ahead of the other 2 defensively.
As for Tripps free kicks, they are gash imo. I think I remember him scoring 1 against MK Dons?? think it was an fa cup game.

Not much to say about tonight’s game is there?

I’m more excited to see who we’ll play. Should be a cracking couple of matches tomorrow night.

We’re so lucky to play at Wembley and I think they’re raising the capacity so it could be one of those nights.

I've watched a lot of Rice this season. (In Laws are West Ham fans) he's just not looked his composed self at times.

Yes, you're spot on about Saka, very good tonight!
I was never a massive fan of Rice tbh, I don't see the £50M+ hype, decent defensive midfielder but offers zilch going forward.

7 points. 3 clean sheets. Top of the group. If you’d have been offered that two weeks ago you’d have snapped their hand off. If we’d have drawn with Croatia and beaten Scotland and got the same points the negativity wouldn’t even exist right now.

It looks like Southgate was watching Dyche at Burnley not Tarky etc. He has decided pragmatism and defence are the way to win.

OK, it doesn’t set the pulse racing, but if he is going to do that and play two defensive midfielders and two defensive fullbacks (Shaw is not Chilwell going forward and Walker is not Tripper)…….then I feel we will need instant creativity from nowhere, potentially with pace and a strong finisher. We will need a magician, ideally two.

The finisher is Kane, even out of form. The pace is Sterling.

That leaves two spots. Mount is out. The one who has to start is Foden. He has a bit of Messi, a bit of Gazza, a bit of Scholes. He can dribble, pass, finish and tackle. I’d start Grealish too, but Foden is the one who can win a tournament from nowhere. He’s the only chance with this formation - the rest are good, but not great. Foden’s not great yet, but could be in 2 weeks. Great players do great things at great times.

Good to see Maguire back and Henderson getting 45 minutes, those 2 are needed for the knockout stages. Also pleased they showed the correct mindset in winning the group rather than the weak approach of trying not to win in the hope we get to play a team not as good as we may do next.

Another solid show ( and so it should have been ) against mediocre opposition . The tourney starts properly now and this is how we’ll be judged . There’s about 10 teams that could win it , whoever does will need that mix of world class skill , great team spirit ,a smattering of luck and maybe a favourable QF

One of which was 66 I believe

Our R16 is going to be very tough, probably the toughest of all 8 ties for any of the ‘favourites’. But if we can make it through that then our quarter is more favourable. We would play (in Rome) against the winner of Spain/Sweden group or a best 3rd place team.

Some real positives from last night.

Maguire getting a full 90 mins and Henderson 45 will help us out, should we reach the latter stages. Grealish and Saka looked to attack and create some opportunities, resulting in the goal. Obviously another clean sheet is a positive, although I can't help thinking the Czechs were seriously knocking and we'll have much harder tests to come.

Kane, whilst not scoring, looked much more threatening although his tendency to drift outside of the box must be frustrating for the wingers. Someone needs to tell him he needs to man mark the penalty spot, when we're attacking. I'm happy for us to keep pressing on with him up top, though.

Sterling getting another goal is good. The movement to slip round the back for the header was excellent but aside that I thought he was fairly anonymous. I'd like to see his opta stats because I saw him regularly give away possession with dribbling into blind alleys and bad passes in his 60 odd minutes in the game.

Keeping Sancho on the bench for so long was mystifying to me. Rashford is clearly out of form and has made appearances in the other two games so why not give him half an hour in Sterling's place?

The main part that sticks from last night is how sloooooow we were in possession. I found myself screaming at the TV in the first half when a few times the back five had the time to stop the ball and not touch it for 4-5 seconds whilst waving their arms. This really needs to improve as the better teams in this tournament will press and ping the ball round us in no time.

Onwards and upwards. Lets hope we don't get the French as I fear that will be a cricket score against us.

I wouldn’t be too fussed about getting the french, they have seemed fairly ordinary each game so far. Reading a few reports, it sounds like Mbappe has gone all prima Donna and is causing a few issues in the changing room.

The Germans look good but I just can’t seem them netting against our defence without a recognised striker.

Portugal look scary going forward but they seem to have a real weakness against pace especially down the right.

This next game is a great chance for us to show what we are made off.

If we beat the next team we are likely to get close to the final

I don’t think it’s optimistic the french have looked very ordinary to me. Not particularly solid in defence and very isolated in attack.

I think we can be very optimistic we have one of the best defences in world football. I believe only Italy currently has a better record over the last 20 games.

We haven’t looked great going forward but I don’t think we have had to.

I wouldn't gamble on that happening if his 'sneaky look' at possible.starting 11's is anything to go by.
To be honest, has any team 'lit.up' the tournament? By no means have I seen every game but I read.the reports and that is the way it sems to me. Perhaps it is just one tournament too many but there does appear to be a.massive inclination to defend. I think Scotland could.conceivably have gone through with a 1-0 win last night that would.have given them.4.points and a goals for of 1 and goals against of 2. I know it didn't.happen but it doesn't sound like much entertainment to me.
