it must be unique to do this but the situation should never have gone on so long

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
Derby are lucky they only have to restate those 3 years (they could have been asked for the two previous to that as well), of course they still have to produce their 2018/19 and 2019/20 accounts as well
It now looks like the EFL are really gunning for them though - Mel chanced his arm and has failed overall, I don't think Rooney is going to be too happy and a sale still has to happen. Then there is the small matter of the MSD loan, that they were trying to increase in January.
Overall they look ripe for being raided for their best young talent, imagine where they would be if they didn't keep producing young players to sell

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
I see Keiron Maguire thinks they'll fail FFP and be handed a points deduction, meaning relegation.
If they go down, I wonder if we still get to be amused by them annually bottling promotion?

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
I was talking to a Derby fan in my local last night and there is a real sense they've had it and will get hammered by the authorities.
Meanwhile, on the playing side, they are down to thirteen or fourteen full-time pros with even the most sellable assets - Marriott and Sibley - either not having played much or raising any interest. Sibley would be worth a punt.
I can't say I'm upset about Derby's problems.

Shocking situation. Not sounding great for Derby.
Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
Can only echo the above. It should have been dealt with earlier. My worry is, and I'm not au fait with Wycombe's situation; if they've had to prepare for life in League One and lost some of their players from last season. Only to find that they've been reinstated.

No fans ever really deserve this. Derby County has been badly run, living beyond their means for years and they are not above the rules.

Makes me think of that FA Cup win at Derby in 1999/2000. Big giant killing win that day but just look at the difference between the two clubs now.

Gotta feel sorry for both sets really. No football fans deserve having the club the love and support run in to the ground by bad owners.
Sitting so far above where given our financial status would normally put us makes us prime candidates for ending up in this situation over the next decade and if the unthinkable did happen I dont think we as fans would deserve it

I remember the sheer excitement of being drawn against them and the win felt like we had conquered Everest. I also remember the 4th round draw, and again the excitement of drawing Coventry away. It is mental how times can change.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 10:52 amMakes me think of that FA Cup win at Derby in 1999/2000. Shows how things can change. We are currently playing above teams who we thought were so far out of our reach. It’s why I still pinch myself when I turn up at the likes of Old Trafford and Anfield.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:05 amI remember the sheer excitement of being drawn against them and the win felt like we had conquered Everest. For those who haven't spotted it, Derby's first game in Lge1 (should they be relegated) will be away at ........... Accrington Stanley!

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
Having read a bit more into this I am far from convinced Derby are going to have a points deduction applied to the 2020/21 season, it is probable that the restated accounts will still keep them within FFP - if they had gone back to when they actually started the practice it would be a different story. though I understand they could be pulled up over something else, the charge/hearing/appeals process would run well into next season

Could they get a Leeds or (I'm sure it's) Luton sized points deduction?

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
I went to that game with a guy i dealt with through work who is a Cov fan and sat with the Coventry fans. They were so far ahead of us in terms of skill and pace it was frightening. Robbie Keane sold Steve Davis a dummy from 5 yards in front of him and I don't think Davis realised until Keane went past him to run onto the ball. Chippo scored a 30 yard screamer quite early in the game and that set the stage for what was to come.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:15 amAnd I remember us going to Coventry for the tie and getting a football lesson from them.
How different it was the next time i went to Highfield Rd with the Cov fan, we were on equal footing in terms of the leagues we were in and delivered one of the best away performances i can remember, featuring the Paul Cook/Glen Little indirect free kick routine.

Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
Not good quality but here's the free kick routine - shouldn't have happened because the moving forward of the ball 10 yards had been stopped, ref got it wrong.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 12:46 pmI went to that game with a guy i dealt with through work who is a Cov fan and sat with the Coventry fans. Re: Derby County Interchangeable fixtures
I know the FL are completely incompetent, but even by their abysmal standards this whole situation is a farce, and both clubs need a resolution ASAP so they can both prepare for life whichever divisions they eventually find themselves playing in.
Plus the rest of the teams in both divisions need to know where they're playing on any given day, how can their supporters make any travel plans if they have no idea where they're travelling too.

I remember that rule now, the ref could move the ball forwards ten yards for dissent, but should it have gone as far as into the penalty area?

I still find it weird that the FL end up having to appeal against what are in effect their own decisions not being upheld.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:10 pmI know the FL are completely incompetent, but even by their abysmal standards this whole situation is a farce, and both clubs need a resolution ASAP so they can both prepare for life whichever divisions they eventually find themselves playing in.

It shouldn't - they'd changed the rule and it should have been moved just to the edge of the box.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:11 pmI remember that rule now, the ref could move the ball forwards ten yards for dissent, but should it have gone as far as into the penalty area?

but in this case it was worthwhile in getting the necessary clarity over the practice of amortisation, though the penalty was not anyone other than Derby was hoping forClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:14 pmI still find it weird that the FL end up having to appeal against what are in effect their own decisions not being upheld.
