Neuer
Kimmich Stones Maguire Gosens
Kroos Goretzka
Gnabry Muller Grealish
Kane

A combined 11 i'd chose, maybe Kimmich in midfield and Walker right back, and maybe Foden over Muller. It's a close one though
Muller would be the first name on my sheet from both teams.

World number one out.
Spain taken to penalties again against Switzerland ten men.
It’s only Ukraine.

Southgate out.

What a performance. again.

Whatever happens now. He’s surely quietened all doubters? Superb England manager.

sadly not, he could go and win the entire thing and people will still whine and hate, it's an English thing.

Football fans know Nothing about how to play and win football games.

No doubt about it, England were very very clinical tonite. Some have come thru that game with massive credit - i thought Shaw was superb, as was Rice. Stones and Walker on the other hand had quite a few `moments` that would have been punished by a better side than Ukraine.

Tactics, team selection and intructions were top notch tonite.

Let us never forget that Gareth Southgate once managed Middlesbrough. Genuinely interested to hear what Rowls, and other detractors, have to say though. And I am being genuine, have you changed your mind?

I posted this on the other thread:

Southgate won me over today because he clearly wasn't happy at half-time. The pressing in the second half and forward passing felt like they were 70% up on the first half and that surely came from him. I've never ever had an issue with him as a bloke but have accused him of being too negative (because he was) but the second half today was epic

So yeah, today he did win me over, most managers would have just said, winning 1-0 same again lads but he clearly didn't

Wow, thought we'd scrape a win but really wasn't expecting that scoreline tonight.

No matter what the quality of the opposition is that was an impressive performance by anyone's standards - well done to the England team and manager.

Same again on Wednesday please!

Also seems to be managing the game time of the squad so well. We have around 18 players who are “warmed up” within this tournament and could do a job. No undropable megastars that everyone has to pamper to. We may not win it but Southgate has given us every chance.

A great result but Walker is an accident waiting to happen. Why not be really adventurous and play Tripp at right back and Luke Shaw on the left.

It was an enjoyable watch yesterday and Southgate deserves credit. I’ve criticised him for previous performances which are regularly turgid despite the quality in the squad. Seems to have got the squad in a really good frame of mind and has now got players desperate to impress when they get their chance. Not something I can remember seeing before. Need to get through Wednesday though...

Thought Henderson was immense when he came on. Fills the gap between defence and attack so much better than Rice and Phillips.

Let’s see what Souness thinks of England on Wednesday because he was embarrassing in the run up to the Czech game….anyone would think he had never seen a team start a tournament slowly and conceding few chances before going on to get better and better. This is what the Germans usually do.

It will be nice to see him eating humble pie or it might be look at what Scotland could have done as they were fabulous and so much better than England :)

Edit…just seen he is already eating his humble pie in his Sunday Times column…bitter sweaty alert
