Story far from over, maybe in Derby's case, but expect a legal challenge from Wycombe to the EFL

Are they safe from a points deduction next season or are they completely in the clear ?

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
On the league appeal they are clear with no appeal but I think they still have to provide their financial statementevensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 6:04 pmAre they safe from a points deduction next season or are they completely in the clear ?

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
The whole episode is a complete mess, and how it ever dragged out for this long only the FL can answer.
The season kicks off in a matter of a few weeks and still neither Derby or Wycombe don't yet know for certain which division they'll be playing in.
I have sympathy for Wycombe, but absolutely none for Derby, and it's about time they finally got their affairs in order this financial stuff has been rumbling on for far too long now and it's growing tedious TBH.

It is never about implementing the rules, always about what the league wants to happen. Who can be sacrificed and which team is expendable and who must remain to suit the league need.

I'm sure the likes of Luton and Leeds who've been handed large points deductions in the past are raising eyebrows at this one.

I think if it was the other way round Wycombe would have been relegated.

Well unless they sort themselves out pronto they won't be in the Championship for long, that whole club is a mess from top to bottom, and this is what happens when you overspend to try and get to the promised land.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 8:07 pmThey do know which division they are in as per the thread title.
Sadly Derby aren't the only club suffering financial woes, and until football as a whole get's it's house in order cases like this will keep happening.

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
Anyone remember our bottom lip quiverers on here wetting their pants at Derby's midfield of Bryson, Butterfield, Ince, Thorne and Johnson?
Goodness me, the shite I've read on here from the bottom lip quiverers.

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
Its obviously the right decision based on the outcome of the legal proceedings but also this is a good result for football as the idea of a nothing club like Wycombe displacing a club with the history and stature of Derby over some dodgy accusations is not something I would like to see happen

Did Swindon get promoted to prem league years ago, but because Alan sugar didn't like em at the time they were relegated to league 2.

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
It was before the days of the Premier League. They won the second division play-off final against Sunderland but were then found guilty of some 35 offences of illegal payments and were relegated two divisions. Sunderland went up instead and Tranmere were promoted from the third to the second division. Swindon appealed and had the punishment halved which meant Tranmere were then pushed back again.Barlickclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 8:50 amDid Swindon get promoted to prem league years ago, but because Alan sugar didn't like em at the time they were relegated to league 2.
They did eventually win promotion a few years later when it was the Premier League. Hard to believe now that Swindon had a season in the Premier League. They went up with Glenn Hoddle as player manager but he left after the play-off final win to take over at Chelsea.

Re: Derby to remain in Championship
I am liking this new EFL approach, though part of me suspects it is more to do with the likely incoming regulator and the EFL need to show they have their house in order before they go begging for a greater share of Premier League money
