We love the Indian Harvest, which is just up the road in Crawshawbooth. They have a lot of choice and one or two dishes that I haven’t found anywhere else.

Not been to Rawtenstall for 40 plus years, but the Blue Sky was excellent on Bank Street.

Remember treating a bird one night hoping for the leg over only to get knocked back, then the following week reading in the free press that the place was over run with rats. She obviously knew something I didn't

The craic in the Blue Sky on a Friday night was the highlight of the weekend packed out to the gunnels with plssheads the abuse those waiters used to get...christ knows what they were doing to your food from the short walk from the kitchen to the dining area.

Can't go wrong with either Indian Harvest or Nila.
Havn't been to them for a while, but friends and family have been recently to the Harvest and said it was really good.

It was the best but apparently at the start of the pandemic they got into difficulties and its now closed. Their king prawn rajistan was fantastic, 2/3 years ago you couldn't get on the carpark and to be honest thats the last time I went. I tried the one near the post office sorting office last week (cant recall name) and it was awful so i binned it.

I scored a few trays of absolute grot from that dump by the old Bishop Blaize earlier in the year.

Must have had 12 hours of 'ring sting' the next day.

Ashoka never disappointed mind...the local ethnics tended to use it....always a good sign.

The Blue Sky sticks in my mind for a great piece of graffiti.

Some wit had painted in large letters down the side of the building "BLUE SKY AT NIGHT, RED RING IN MORNING".

It always puzzles me why people like Indian curies so much. They are OK now and again. They nearly all the same colour and many of the sauces taste the same. In India (and Leicester) my experience is that there is much more variety in the Indian cuisine (its mainly Bangladeshi hereabouts) than whats on offer around here. An old army friend of my fathers, who served on the sub continent, reckoned the food was so highly spiced because the meat was poor and it 'hid' the bad taste.

If that is your experience of Indian food, i'd suggest you need a better Indian restaurant/takeaway

If the meat is that poor then surely I’d end up with stomach upset everytime I have one? I’m going for one tonight so I’ll let you know how I get on

The head waiter at Samrats now owns the Indian Harvest in Crawshawbooth, he has been there for nearly 30 years.

He could have a point... and on another matter discussed today .... why are Nearly all Curries red? In the nineties a Madras was never Red..brown in colour and gee floating on top was how it Looked with proper Chapatis served... my last two Curries from different takeaways as got me Thinking Someones Taking the p!ss .. .what has been a favourite dish of mine for years is way off the Mark.

Regarding curries I think all people like different tastes & styles & strength requirements, i go to Bradford for a proper desi 1 when I’m in the mood & I can be arsed to travel.

I love a curry but agree most restaurant/takeaways are dogga. I have taken to including home cooked curry as part of my fee from Asian clients to get the real deal. The scruffy gaff next to the Millstone pub in Manchester is the exception.

In my stoodent days, I used to go to the one on the corner just across the road from there. It used to be cheap as chips and very good too.
