I’d no idea of that but when I saw the name Blatherwick I immediately thought of Steve.

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Great opening stand, and Lancs should amass a big total from here, certainly enough to give Jimmy plenty to bowl with.
176/1 at tea, let's grind the blighters into the dust again.

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Jennings must have a great chance of being Lancs player of the season, he's certainly our outstanding batsman, and if he maintains this form just maybe England will come calling again.

234-1 Jennings still going strong 118*, and Wells keeping him good company on 23*.

250 up for one, not bad when you’ve been put in to bat.

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Oh! I didn't realise we'd been inserted, I just assumed we'd won the toss and chosen to bat, how sporting of our esteemed hosts to offer us first use of the pitch, and judging by the Lancs score it's a good batting surface.

Re: Yorks v Lancs
I suspect we may carry on batting to prevent them from getting batting points. If the game was to finish now we would top the league by a point as we got 3 batting points and they got no bowling points.

Match suspended? What's going on, have the Yorkies walked off?

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Yorkshire player injured fielding chasing the ball and slid into something on the boundary it seems, probably be end of play for the day.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 3:44 pmMatch suspended? What's going on, have the Yorkies walked off?

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Must be a very serious injury to suspend the game. Normally just bring on a sub fielder. Hope whoever is hurt is ok
Re: Yorks v Lancs
Apparently Dom Leech of Yorkshire sustained a serious injury to his left leg and was treated by medics before being stretchered off. Game was then abandoned for the day due to the outfield being declared dangerous and unfit for play. No doubt more to come on this strange series of events. All the best to Dom Leech

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Amazing that they managed to play for so long without anybody noticing that the ground was unsafe.
Surely there would still be sufficient time, given the weather today, to dry the outfield sufficiently to play again today?
Has someone panicked due to the injury and fear of repercussions?

Re: Yorks v Lancs
Don't they teach them that. at 400-odd for 2, they don't have to risk life and limb to stop a run? Hope it's nothing permanent.
Re: Yorks v Lancs
Hey Quicken I'll have you know that I have bowled Gary Kirsten a man who has a test century against every nation, so I would very much fancy my chances against your Eastbourne mercenary.
Disastrous game so far.

Re: Yorks v Lancs
He was a good batsman until he rocked up at Earby that day.
I have a similar claim to fame in getting the wicket of Bhave who was pro at Settle at the time. 3rd highest first class average in the game.
He hit everything all along the floor until my medium pace was deemed not worthy of him facing. He only managed to dispatch it to mid off though. And the rest they say is history.
Re: Yorks v Lancs
Yeah am sure if it was a Lancashire lad there would be plenty of comments ... no nobody has died ... but a lad has been hurt enough to stop a match ... have fun with that OKQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 5:51 pmTalk about going overboard Bosscat. Nobody has died.

Better than that it was at Great Harwood, or Snuffy Arrod as we used to call em.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 5:58 pmHe was a good batsman until he rocked up at Earby that day.
