This is the first game back for alot of people and the first away day. Even if it is only a friendly I seriously think we could suprise a few here and take thousands. Thoughts?

Given all the fan protests and falling out with the ownership in the last few years at Oldham - the turn out from them will be interesting - Is anyone aware if the landlords of the newest stand have allowed the club to use it again for the coming games

One stand is closed for it - not sure if it’s the one you’re referring to. No food or drink too, whether that’s due to staff or them not paying their bills again I don’t know..

I suspect that will be the one - through the lockdown not paying the rent on it will have been easy and useful to them, but this club has been a mess since before the 2018 takeover - it may be worthwhile the supporters groups getting in touch to see what the their fans would prefer we do - for all the desire some have to get back to a game would it not be best to show solidarity with fans who have been protesting about poor ownership for a long time now. This is another North West club in a real mess - we have had Blackpool, Bury, Bolton and Wigan but Oldham and Rochdale are currently as bad as some of those situations.

and that is the problem with the game - a lack of solidarity. Funding a club that has refused to pay players and creditors in the last couple of years not because they did not have the funds but because they chose to turn their backs on contracts they had previously entered into

Could be. Colne played a friendly v. Hyde last Friday night, all ticket purchases in advance, and there were (my estimate) 120-150 there. More than you'd expect for a friendly.

The players were obviously ready for a game too. Even though it was a friendly, at 1-0 up for the last 20 minutes Colne were defending like it really mattered and Hyde were going hard for the win. Also not what you'd expect for a friendly.

Interesting that. I went to a similar level friendly last week. Over 200 turned up and the players really went for it, 100% for 90 minutes. I guess there’s a lot of pent up demand for playing and watching live sport again.

I don’t for one minute doubt the struggles the fans face. And feel for them. But the game is about as ethical (on and off the field) as that mucky shop on colne road.

We can’t even agree among ourselves that the previous reigime was great for Burnley. Never mind the merits of Oldham’s ownership.

and the more people shrug their shoulders the more it happens, it is endemic in society as a whole as we witness regularly when we watch the news, some people thought that was changing for football following the outcry over Super League and the start of the fan led review, but I just don't see it.

You have travelled all over the place to watch football, have you seen a country other than Germany where the fans unite to change things arounf the game they do not like

Christ on a bike. I’ve read two threads this morning and both have you targeting Chester. You have made your point, put a pin in it now.

I’m guessing this is a pseudo account. Cricket has liked your post too. So which wally has been missing from the board for a little while and might be behind the mask….

I can see a few getting locked out, the 3750 will surely be maxed out. Are any supporter clubs doing the trips? I know its a stones throw but wondered if they could package deal it.

Just go and sit in one of the home stands if the away end is full.

It's only a friendly. You wouldn't bother where you sat if you watched non league.

I dont disagree with the sentiment. But a few burnley fans boycotting a friendly at oldham after a pandemic is going to make zero difference. It would barely get any coverage in the burnley express!

Oldham's website says turnstiles will open at 12. Im just wondering about the logistics of getting up to 3750 visiting fans through cash only turnstiles in such a short space of time , given that presumably the operators , if the not the actual turnstiles themselves, are bound to be a bit rusty.

They're not expecting full capacity I don't think as they're asking to leave space in seats to people you haven't travelled with.

I'd be amazed if there were anywhere near 3750.

Be fantastic to get even half of that figure.

Got to remember it's an away friendly, a lunch time kick off, and the start of the school holidays.

First football in 18 months for a lot, sunny day, only pre season we can attend at a weekend up to press, not a lot to do on Saturday than do shopping and bits about the house . Win win win situation

Think I'll be attending with my Dad, tram from Milnrow to Westwood then a 15 minute walk or so to Boundary Park. Good way to get in and out no fuss (if you live in Todmorden, anyway!).

It feels a lifetime since seeing Burnley play live, I really will savour it and moreover having the day out with my Dad again.

Hi MACCA I wouldn't mind a lift if there's one going, I'm best mates with Aaron who's married to your cousin. I will happily pay for your entry to the ground. I watched the Chelsea game with you in the Angel a a few years back when Pope got done by the dodgy bounce.

You might be in for a surprise. The last match I attended was a youth game at nearby Ashton 16 months ago and I am itching to get back on as are thousands of others.

We will pack the Chaddi and fill the Royton end, I can see 5000 clarets making the trip and making it a game to remember

Can't fukin wait, plus pay on the gate makes even more attractive

Not a chance in hell we'll take 4 or 5 thousand. Plenty of people have found other things to do with their Saturdays, plus it's the start of the school holidays.

You might not have, but I can tell you that thousands of 20 somethings around East Lancashire will be chewing at the bit to get back on the footie

Wouldn’t be surprised to see this recreated.
