11th gold medal confirmed with the team eventing, and every chance of individual medals to follow in the next few hours also.

GB's first eventing gold since 1972, I must say this stat surprised me.

Gold in the team eventing but Townend’s 4faults drop him to silver in the individual with final show-jumping to come.

GB womens hockey throw away a last quarter lead against Spain after having 2 excellent breakaway opportunities to close the game out.
2-2 5mins to go. Straight to shoot out.

Just had a quick re-read of the locked 'Olympic Fairness' thread about the trans woman weightlifter, because she had her event today and was totally rubbish at it, which makes the panic in that thread seem a bit hysterical in hindsight lol. She (the trans woman) didn't record a single life, and crashed out after ten minutes. A British woman won silver in the event.

Her snatch let her down. ( I couldn't hold that in any longer)

GB women squeeze through on pens, Maddie Hinch yet again the star.

26 medal events on day 11, so every chance that the GB haul will continue rising.

And a mention for the Gadirova twins, who finished sixth and seventh respectively in the women's gymnastics floor final. Considering it's their 1st OG that's a decent effort, and I'm sure we'll hear plenty more about them over the coming years.

Not that I've heard, and if he had I'd imagine the Scottish media would have mentioned his involvement, as far as I'm aware I think he's hung up his international boots to focus on his club career, and considering the success he's enjoying at Ibrox who can blame him.

Our cycling federation objecting to Denmark going through, after they rode into the back of our distanced third man, is totally un-Olympian and un-British. Pack your bikes guys you weren’t good enough.

Two gold medal races in track cycling.
Womens 4x3km and mens team sprint. Favourite in neither but close races.

Awoke this morning to hear that Hollingworth Lake sailors had won an Olympic gold. My father was a founder member of HLSC in the 1950s and I crewed his Snipe boat as a boy.

Quite right too. Danish lead rider rode straight into the GB rider, then had the cheek to abuse him .
I would disqualify the Danes.

Another decent day overall for GB, highlights being the cycling and sailing, up to 43 medals in total now, with 13 golds.

Jason and Laura Kenny continue to rack up the medals, and 19 year old Keely Hodgkinson taking a surprise silver in the 800m, and in her debut Olympics, she'll surely be another on to watch in the future, shame for Jemma Reekie that she just missed out on a bronze.

Away from the Brits. Simone Biles returns on the beam, and takes a bronze, shows she has character after her last few days of upset.

Silver for Whittaker at boxing. Only just realised they are boxing without the headguards. Leads me to believe the gloves must be so soft it is virtually impossible to get a KO.

Have no understanding at all of why our 4x4km cycling team are relegated to 7/8th place run off because the Danes caught them. If they qualified for the semi surely they should go into the bronze medal race.

Isn't it based on the losing time? We crossed the line very late (after coming off) so ended up 8th.

That's why there was controversy over whether it should be run again, as the losing time also counted towards something.

Possibly.
Although our lad climbed back on and gave us a finish time Denmark were awarded the overlap. I guessed it was for being caught but why then call them q-fs and semis?

Jack Carlin looked very good making the sprint semis. Kenny out but put up a good fight.
Matt Walls winning the omnium after 3 of the 4 events but the title is heavily weighted towards the final, points, race.

Off thread.
Watching so many different sports with ex+pros summarising and teaching us things all the time just shows how poor football summarisers are. Very rarely they tell you something you hadn’t seen.

I've always thought the last event was always slightly too heavilty weighted.

This has possibly been discussed already, but surely in 2021 the athletes shouldn't have to have their surname pinned to their outfit with safety pins? At the Olympics level you'd think they'd have their name incorporated into their tops, like the name of the country they represent?

As well as the gold for Walls, a bronze for Liam Heath in the canoeing, and the gold for Walls is GB'S 50th medal of the games.

And there's every chance of several more before the day is out.

Good to see Dina-Asher-Smith in the relay heats, and GB men & women safely through to the finals.

USA take bronze in the women's footy, winning a thriller 4-3 against Australia.

Karate wtf

I must admit I’ve seen worse X factor auditions than when they start screaming.

The olympics have been amazing and something for everyone but it is very difficult to see how on earth they judged the winner in the women’s one just on tbh.

Lauren Price wins her semi to earn a gold medal fight. A tad lucky up on one card, down on two with two even but with a must win vote the two even cards both gave her victory for a 3-2 win.
No arguments about Cruz victory in the next fight but no respect from comms or the ref for the Russian world champ. I enjoy Richie Woodhalls comms but he was creaming himself over the Cuban from them getting up off the stool and when the Russian landed a superb left to the Cuban nose, shown in slo-mo, to put him on his arse the ref, ridiculously, called it a slip.

She was part of the team that competed in the heats yes. I do agree that was a Lazarus like recovery though, but we have no idea how severe her injury was.

Gold for Laura Kenny and Katie Archibald!, What a games the Kenny's are enjoying again.

Bronze in the hockey overnight, it sounded a thriller.

Daley into the diving final.

Yes. A hamstring injury takes a long to time to heal. Something definitely not right there. Did she bottle the 100m and the 200m in which, of course she didn't compete???
