I've just noticed the quartet of gymnasts includes twins Jennifer and Jessica Gadirova, I can see the marketing execs falling over themselves to get them signed up to promote products, and why not it worked for the Brownlee brothers.

Great thing about the olympics that you get a glimpse of all sports whether it’s your cup of tea or not. Not sure how dressage is many people’s cup of tea to be honest. That said, surely you get a medal when you have the best trained horse. Incredible how you get horses to do stuff like that.

Sometimes I'll watch the dressage, I haven't bothered this time, but the horses are incredible I must agree. And it must take many hours of work to get horse and rider to the levels that they produce.

The gymnasts are indeed amazing. As for the rest of today’s stuff I really enjoyed the rugby 7s. Can’t see anyone beating Fiji though.

Dina Asher-Smith must be a strong contender for gold in the women's 100m given the great run of form she's been in over the past year.

I guess it'll come down to her and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

As for the men's race it's the most open sprint in ages, no Usain Bolt (retired) or Christian Coleman (banned).

Another Gold to wake up to from the Men's 4x200m freestyle relay who absolutely smashed the field, unfortunately just missing the world record by a couple of seconds. Tom Dean with another gold to add to his individual one the other day.

I'm surprised that countries such as France and Germany have been struggling when you hear about the talent in their ranks at U23 level, unless it's not as good as its made out to be.

It appears that one of this current crop of (losing) GB rowers is laying the blame for their downturn in results squarely at the door Jurgen Gruber, he being the ex/retired head coach that ran things for our previous (winning) rowing teams; apparently he was cruel/harsh, didn't pick/support them and worked them too hard when he did. Am I the only one who sees a slight correlation between working insanely hard and winning?

GB have been so dominant in the rowing it was bound to come to an end eventually, the promising aspect is we've got many younger rowers emerging, and we also had several 4th placed finishes, so I'm not unduly concerned about our future in this event, you can't keep reeling off the golds constantly, and as long as we're building for the future that's fine in my view.

The officiating at the GB football match is PL standard, that is shocking.

Blimey! I didn't realise rowing got that much cash, and yes if the powers that be are true to their word and funding is warded on merit for each sport, then we could well see a redistribution in the grants.

Certainly BMX should have a case for more funding after that success.

A strong start from GB in the Mixed relay triathlon, and we should certainly be looking at a medal of some sort.

And with the likes of Dina Asher-Smith & Adam Peaty also in action later I sense another successful day looming for Team GB.

A great leg from Jonny Brownlee has put us in prime position for gold, but we're still only just over halfway through, so lots could yet change.

However Alex Yee SHOULD see us home in the final leg if all goes to form.

It'd be a great way to start the day by picking up a gold.

Gold in mixed triathlon after dominant performance. Enjoyable watch that.
