Into the final stage of the triathlon, expect it to be over in around 20 mins or so, Yee and Brownlee is good positions to push for the medals.

Never watch swimming but his name is 1 I know. When you see his record it is amazing considering everyone in every sport loses but not him.

GOLD for Pidcock. What a career he is putting together. Now with team Ineos Grenadiers grand tour wins await him.

That must be up there as one of the best Olympic performances by a British athlete. He’s absolutely slaughtered far more experienced bikers and only broke his collar bone a couple of months ago!

Quite a day for Team GB, Peaty winning gold again should come as no surprise, but Daley & Lee getting a gold in the diving possibly was, amazingly that's Daley's 1st Olympic gold, and to cap it off Tom Pidcock scoops gold in the mountain biking, Lee & Pidcock aren't names that I knew previously, so it's always great to see new talent emerge on the world stage.

Alex Yee is also new to me, and he looks like being the successor to the Brownlees.

Chance of another gold later as Lauren Williams into taekwondo final at 1.30 UK time.

Mixed news elsewhere for Team GB, Murray & Skupski out of the tennis, but the Rugby Sevens men well placed to make the quarter finals after 2 wins out of 2.

I don't watch many of these sports until the Olympics come around, I should watch more.

But staying up to watch Peaty and hearing the stats that he hasn't lost in the 100m breaststroke since 2014 and the top 16 times of all time are all done by Peaty is truly sensational.

Good to see the GB women's hockey team won 4-1, they badly needed a result today.

Unlucky for the gymnast team who came a close 4th, ditto Adam Burgess in the canoeing.

There should be further medals to come tomorrow hopefully.

A great women's triathlon, Taylor-Brown of Manchester gets silver for GB despite suffering a tyre puncture in the cycling, she may have had a chance for gold without that.

But gold medal to Flora Duffy, a dominant performance and Bermuda's first ever gold medal at the Olympics and 2nd only ever medal after a bronze in 1976.

GB destroyed by Fiji in the Rugby 7s, but are through to the Quarter Finals which will be played later, waiting to see who against.

Swimming now, Duncan Scott and Tom Dean have a chance for medals in the 200m Freestyle.

In Taekwando Mahama Cho and Bianca Walkden are competing today, early rounds at the moment until the final matches later this today.

9am GB go for Equestrian team gold led by Charlotte Dujardin.

Then women's team gymnastics at 11:45am, US are the clear favourites but hopefully GB for silver or bronze.

Think Georgia Taylor-Brown deserves special mention. Suffered a flat tyre in the women's triathlon on the final lap. Was a considerable distance behind in 5th and still picked up a silver.

What is it with Taekwondo and team GB somehow contriving to lose a bout with only seconds remaining?

Happened quite a few times now at these games.

Yeah that was bizarre - I’m no Taekwondo expert but to allow her opponent to be in range for a head kick in the final seconds seemed quite poor…

3 seconds to go and your leading just move back and away from her kicking leg.
To be fair it was a superb head kick.

Moving away so your opponent can't kick you because you're winning incurs a penalty point.

Stunning 2nd half fightback by the GB 7's. 21-0 down at the break, won 26-21 in the end, so through to the semi-finals. and a good shot of of medal, however Fiji look odds on for gold.

Wins in the tennis for Muarray & Salisbury, Plus Liam Broady, however Naomi Osaka exits early, a big blow for the host nation that, they must have had high hopes of a medal for her and probably gold to boot.

GB man's hockey team suffer a 5-1 drubbing by Germany, but they can still qualify.

Overall another decent day for Team GB so far, the highlight being the 1-2 in the swimming, but yet again so near yet so far in the Taekwondo.

Team GB take on Canada at midday, as expected plenty of changes USA & Sweden already through to the last 8.

This stat surprised me I must admit.

Great Britain has made its best start to an Olympic Games with at 10 medals, and counting, after four days of competition. The previous best was six after four days of a Games (2000, 2008 and 2016).

And that's with a few medal hopes not quite getting over the line, so GB are actually doing better than it might seem to the naked eye, and considering many of our hero's from London & Rio have now left the scene, and even those younger members of the GB squad who've not won medals have performed admirably. and the future looks bright for the Commonwealth games and beyond.

A)there is usually one going forward and one retreating.
B)with 3 seconds to go she could have taken the penalty and won.

No, not a Burnley pub brawl, it’s the 2020 Olympic Games!

It all seems a bit primitive and outdated doesn’t it?

It’s one big glorified school sports day. Who can throw the stick furthest, who can run over there quickest, who’s the fastest bike rider, who cares.

What I don’t agree with in the olympics is the so called “doping tests.” Every single coach will be forcing all sorts of steroids down every athlete at the competition - just timing it so they don’t show up on samples.

Same in football to be fair though - I bet they’re all on gear - a 1% gain could be worth millions to both players and clubs.

If I can bring this thread back on topic thanks.

Simone Biles has been forced to withdraw from the gymnastics final for medical reasons, I just hope she's ok to compete later in the games.

GB women have finally equalised against Canada, I thought it was never coming.

Bianca Walkden claims the bronze at least, and GB top their group in the footy, which should ensure a slightly easier passage through the KO stages.

A bronze for GB in the gymnastics, and a medal is all but certain in the dressage, the only question is will it be silver or bronze, Germany look to have wrapped up the gold unless something incredible happens in the last rides.
