Favourite Sports Stat

Post by ŽižkovClaret » Mon Jul 26, 2021 1:35 pm

What's your favourite sports stat?

I know its less relevant now, but the one about Peter Schmeichel winning a title, having a son, and that son winning the title, all before Liverpool won the title again will take some beating for me.

Leeds United went 58 games and 5273 minutes without being awarded a penalty kick. In the modern era of the game that is just an amazing statistic

I think Leeds United have had a homegrown player in their match day squad every game for something like 40 years. Not sure how true it is, or if I’ve the right team . Sure someone can research, I can’t be arsed.

Similar to Dyched post, but Man Utd have had a homegrown player in every matchday squad since something like 1948.

In 2007, Leroy Rosenior returned to former club Torquay United as manager, and was promptly sacked after roughly ten minutes. :o
I'm sure that's still the record for the shortest managerial spell.

Don’t we have a similar stat? Maybe not 58 games, but considerable nonetheless.

I read a stat that the last time Spurs won the League was actually closer in history to the Victorian times than today. Burnley last won the league a couple of years before them, so that put us in that time frame as well

I dont think so but the way Dyche used to moan about not getting penalty's it probably felt that way

I love this one: Burnley 19% possession, Liverpool 81% possession. Final score: Burnley 2 Liverpool 0.
