7th August at Turf Moor.

Don't no how true but it's doing the rounds on WhatsApp groups.

Be class if true.

If there is, don't expect tickets to be cheap. Their pre-season routine is something akin the the Harlem Globetrotters of football. I recall they played Bournemouth in a friendly not too long back and the fee to secure the friendly wasn't cheap.

Might be a planned promo event for the owners / sponsors i guess?

Is this going to be like when we played Gremio in a friendly all those years ago, thinking it was the top Brazilian team, only to find out after that there are many teams in Brazil with the same name, and they were something like a 3rd Division

I was told last night to expect a big home friendly but wasn't given any hint as to who it was

Iv just looked at this too so maybe not reliable unless they do split the squads ? Rangers played Madrid last night at Ibrox with Rangers winning 2-1.

Madrid fans are probably getting really excited about the prospect of playing Barnsley so imagine their let down when they find its actually Burnley

Just to add, didn't Dave Checketts negotiate the affiliate between Real Salt Lake and Real Madrid? If so maybe he still has contacts in Madrid.

Early promise followed by inevitable disappointment. Much like the bi annual transfer thread. If only that could be done and dusted in 30 posts like this one instead of 2000 :D

A friendly's a friendly, whether it's Oldham or Madrid. Good for kids or autograph hunters maybe, but not interested at all until we kick off against Brighton.

It would be typical that the one time we'd get to play them, they wouldn't have Messi
