Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
How have they afforded his loan fee?
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
I'm surprised, league I thought Bournemouth were interestied, much better option, better standard. Not sure how league 1 football will add much to his game

Playing League One football will mean he's playing football. I'm not sure how much difference there is in playing in goal between the two divisions. Birmingham looked the most likely Championship move but they signed a loan goalkeeper yesterday.

Very surprised to go down to that standard might not be as good as everybody thinks utc
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
Quite clearly "Everybody" doesn't think he's that good hense him joining a league 1 side on loan.Longsidelenny1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:16 pmVery surprised to go down to that standard might not be as good as everybody thinks utc
Most Burnley fans could see that when he was asked to step in, seems the manager agrees.

Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
It makes sense for Bailey to go out on loan, however I'd hoped we'd have managed to tempt a Championship club, still I suppose it's better playing for Sheff Wed than not playing at all.
As well as the loan fee, do we have any idea how much of his salary is split between Burnley/Sheff Wed, I can't imagine The Owls are in a position to be forking out vast fortunes on wages, so we may well find that Burnley are still contributing towards the majority of his wages, which isn't ideal if we're trying to ship out the deadwood and the salaries which comes with them.
It's unlikely BPF will contend for a 1st team place at Burnley, certainly not if we remain in the PL, so I guess the best we can hope for is he impresses at Sheff Wed, and this alerts some Championship clubs to making a reasonable bid for his services, but even in that scenario we'll do well to get anywhere near the reported £3.5m we paid Leeds for him, although how much of that fee was dependant on appearances etc I guess none of us actually know.

It just shows we have a long way to go with our youngsters if we're having to loan out players we thought were good enough to deserve a chance in the premier league to lower league sides.
League one. Ouch. I hope he has a good season.

League 1 or the championship, it doesn't matter and if they're the only club who can get the money together then fine.
He gets a year of football, which will help his development.
Good luck to him and hopefully he has a good season down there.

Quite surprised to see him drop down to League 1. I suppose it's all about game time. Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Surely better than him sitting on his back side all year playing ZERO competitive games

No doubt it is. But I think people are surprised that he couldn't get first team football in the championship. Not s good sign for the lad going down to league one but it's a chance to impress nonetheless.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:51 pmSurely better than him sitting on his back side all year playing ZERO competitive games

What I read was that it was a £300,000 loan fee, I'm not convinced that gets him wages free.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:48 pmit's cost them 300K in total which includes their commitment to any wage, that would clearly suggest we are subsidizing it

Couple of mistakes at B’mouth and he’d have been benched.
should play all year at Owls.

The oracle Nixon is suggesting £300k covers wages and loan fee

Another transfer Nixon has called absolutely bang on, I don't understand the Nixon hate.

Nixon gets a lot right but also quite a few wrong I remember Defour being too foreign and too expensive for instance.
He isn’t the only one that suggested this transfer was he the first to suggest it? Not sure and it doesn’t matter, I don’t take anything that anyone says as serious until it actually happens.

Better playing every week for Sheff Wed than being a bit part keeper at Bournemouth. Can see him doing well, and we agreeing a price with them in 11 months

That can’t cover fee & wagesHedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:00 pmThe oracle Nixon is suggesting £300k covers wages and loan fee
It works out at less than £6k per week

Just seen him say that we asked for £300k and he PRESUMES that that’s what we got. So PRESUMABLY he doesn’t actually know the full details then.

So are we confirming Tony , that actually we will get £300k as a loan fee, and then wages paid on top of that?

I’m not confirming anything but I was led to believe there was a fee and an agreement on the wages.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 5:33 pmSo are we confirming Tony , that actually we will get £300k as a loan fee, and then wages paid on top of that?

He was their first choice for a period but was replaced swiftly.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:50 pmI think he played around half a season at about 21 yrs old
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
300k is a good fee, they pay his wages, give us 300k and give him first team football, it's a win win win for us. I can't remember how much we paid for him but I'd guess 300k is around half of the transfer fee.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:40 pmI'm hoping he has got the wages/fee wrong though.
He said it was expensive.
300k including wages is pittance.
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
He needs toughening up, look at Pope he was out on loan a few times in his career, not the end of the road for him.
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
Add 2 million to your 600k figure and you are around the figure we paid for him

I rate BPF.
Can't understand some of the tosh in some posts.
He's our future No. 1 if Pope goes for eg.
Always plays well for NI too.

BIg club, if they are pushing for promotion, they will get big crowds, bigger pressure, better for development.
Bournemouth under Parker...... if they're like Fulham, he'd have had plenty of work to do.

If he's our future No. 1 then heaven help us, thankfully SD has decided quite rightly that the lad isn't up to PL standard, and we've moved quickly to bring in a decent back-up for Pope.
He's had some good games for NI, but he's also thrown in a fair few howlers while playing for them.
Now perhaps a good spell on loan with a team who you'd expect to be winning games at that level might improve his confidence, but in his brief showings for the Clarets he's looked out of his depth I'm afraid.

He's had two loan spells.
I don't think toughening up is what he needs, after all international football is tough enough, playing regularly would help. Watching Hennessey this evening and he doesn't look any better.
Re: ARTICLE: Peacock-Farrell goes on loan to Sheffield Wednesday
At around a similar age Heaton was on loan at Wycombe and Pope at Bury. He's still pretty young to write off

Hot takes only please..... He's no good, and neither's the Welsh lad based on 60 minutes of pre-seqson. Take your sensible posts elsewhere.

What exactly did Hennessey do wrong last night? I was there and to be fair he didn't have much to do. Kicked well with both feet, too.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:41 pmHe's had two loan spells.

He made Joe Hart look like Buffon, hope he improves
