Hi. Very recently a proud Claret from Clitheroe, big Dave Hartley passed away. He was a good friend to many in the Clitheroe district and very well known as a passionate supporter of our club, following the team for many many years home and away.On Friday 30th at 1.00pm there is a gathering arranged at the Rose and Crown in Clitheroe to celebrate the life of Dave and to have a drink or two in his memory. Just putting it out there to let people know so if anyone was able to attend all will be very welcome.

Very sad to hear. I didn’t know him but obviously a lot of people in the Clitheroe area did. I hope plenty turn up to celebrate his life. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

I am genuinely shocked and gutted reading this.I have not seen him for over 20 years now but what a top,top man he was.Travelled home and away with him late 80s early 90s he triggered my passion for BFC and became a good friend. A Clarets legend, a Clitheroe legend.
RIP Dave.

Dave followed Burnley through the worst of times and the best of times. He was a season ticket holder and an avid away follower during the dark days of the Fourth Division.
I’ve travelled in the back of a van with him ,by minibus ,by coach and by train
The friendships we made when the club was as its lowest ebb mean that we could and still can meet with people and start chatting or partying like it was 1987!
Rest in Peace Dave your blue tank top is legendary

Hope there will be quite a few of us there to give him a proper Claret send off. He didn’t want anyone at the crematorium last week because” I don’t want to be remembered in a coffin I want people to remember me in the pub”. Don’t worry Dave we certainly will.
