31 now - still got a lot of goals left in him if he’s in a team that plays to his strengths

Stoke fans rank him as one of their worst ever signings. He really is a player you have to utilise correctly or he will be completely ineffective.

One of the best headers of the ball to play for us in recent decades. Great for us.

Re: ARTICLE: Vokes completes Wycombe move
Didn’t fit in with the way they played and was being used less and less. I’d like to think he’ll do well at Wycombe and get back among the goals.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 9:35 pmStoke fans rank him as one of their worst ever signings. There are players who might not have been the very best but players you know would give you everything. Sam was such a player and a damn good bloke too I found.

Re: ARTICLE: Vokes completes Wycombe move
Good when the signing can be announced with the crowd inside the ground
Re: ARTICLE: Vokes completes Wycombe move
I think he'll like it at Wycombe. Their manager plays a system that will suit Sam down to the ground, and he's created a closeness between the players in his group that he will recognise from Burnley.

From the Wycombe forum, one fan had to go and spoil it......
He's the highest profile signing we've made for a good long while (since Super Simon Garner and Cyrille Regis maybe?

Interested in what odds he will be for the golden boot. Mumbongo was 66/1 for comparison purposes.

The Wycombe manager is a big B@stards fan. How good would it be if big Sam scored the winner against them and was brought in by one of there own

Confident he'll have a upturn.
Left us lots of great memories as a Claret.
Credit to himself on, and off the pitch.
Good luck, Sam.

I don't know, but you'd imagine if he stays fit he'll score plenty at that level.ClaretAndBlue94 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 3:23 pmInterested in what odds he will be for the golden boot. Mumbongo was 66/1 for comparison purposes.

Re: ARTICLE: Vokes completes Wycombe move
Interesting comment on staying fit. I know he’s getting older but did he ever miss games at Burnley through injury other than the obvious big one that kept him out for 8-9 months?

Re: ARTICLE: Vokes completes Wycombe move
Yes I should have qualified my comments, when I say fit, I mean match fit, he's not played much competitive footy for Stoke over the past year, a mere 5 starts out of 30 appearances, so it may take him a month or two to get fully up to his normal levels, however dropping a league should ensure he prolongs his career for another few seasons, and no-one doubts that if he gets the chances he'll finish them.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 1:50 pmInteresting comment on staying fit. Will he be partnering Akinfenwa? They would be an awesome partnership.
