The schadenfreude was strong amongst the Dollopers in the 80s and 90s, one I knew quite happily told me he prayed every night in 1987, for us to drop out of the league and fold. Best part was they thought the good days, bankrolled by a sugar daddy, were permanent. But it was all built on sand.

Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
My mate is a Sunderland fan and he and I have seen first hand what an arrangement and ownership model ALK can be like at the worst end of the spectrum and that is frightening. However, until there are signs of that, I am willing to back them to do the opposite.

Blackburn have extremely rich owners who are willing to bail them out we don’t have that luxury. We have people that used other peoples money to buy the club. We’ve gone from a profitable club to one in massive debt over night. As much as I like the fact that they are in the poop I can’t but think if things go wrong and we get relegated we will be in a worse situation than them. So I’m not gloating over the losses of our neighbours as we could soon be in a worse predicament

If there was an Olympic event for doomsday thoughts and negative opinions, Burnley fans would win the gold medal.

We are still a profitable club, however we now have debt, including that to our former owners. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Unfortunately, we are only profitable thanks to PL TV money, which probably can be said for 75% of the PL Clubs.

6000 season tickets sold ahead of the big kick off. Do well to get 10000 on tomorrow I’d imagine

Just read that Mowbray been told even if they cash in on Armstrong he could still be left without funds with Venky’s putting a block on signings this summer.

A similar mindset to the many on here who were crying out for the heads of Mike Garlick and the rest in the naive belief that an 'investor' and a Fairy Godmother were the same thing.gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 11:52 am...Best part was they thought the good days, bankrolled by a sugar daddy, were permanent. I understand from a reliable source that the gross figure as of 6pm yesterday was slightly under 5,700. The actual figure of adult STs sold this season however is significantly less..nearer 3k than 6k I'm told.
Blackburn will continue to massage the published attendance figures again this season however by including every possible ticket issued regardless of actual presence.
Swansea are expected to bring a sizeable following.

No Adam Armstrong for Rovers against Swansea today.
Maybe edging towards the exit?

40% of the profit they make from selling him goes to Newcastle.
They paid £1.8 million for him originally, so Newcastle are getting quite a large chunk.

Official attendance given as 10,260, which for the 1st game of the campaign isn't great, and I guess Swansea would have brought a few.Local cricketer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 6:58 pm6000 season tickets sold ahead of the big kick off. Do well to get 10000 on tomorrow I’d imagine

Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
So just over 9k of home fans, that's dire considering they've been starved of live football for almost 18 months, and the 1st game of the season usually attracts a good crowd for every team, it'll be interesting whether their attendances boom should they maintain a challenge near the top of the table in the coming months.

Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
1) Armstrong being quoted as a £15m sale .... so basically covering their operating losses until roughly Christmas. In reality, it won't happen like that because of staged payments etc ...
2) The reported attendance at Ewood would have included all S/T holders, whether present or not. I suspect the actual number was around 9,500 ...

No, I understand it's £15m, less Newcastle's £5.28m cut of the £13.2m profit .... with t'Rovers making an operating loss of around £440,000 pw, then in very basic terms, that's the losses covered until around Christmas ...GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 11:52 pmIs that £15 million after Newcastle take their 40% cut of any profit over the original £1.8 million Rovers paid for him?

Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
How on earth can they be making losses of £440k a week in the Championship, surely heir wage bill can't be that high can it. I thought they'd offloaded most of their big earners now.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 12:09 amNo, I understand it's £15m, less Newcastle's £5.28m cut of the £13.2m profit .... with t'Rovers making an operating loss of around £440,000 pw, then in very basic terms, that's the losses covered until around Christmas ...
Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
Makes you wonder if the Venkys have lumped a few loss makers together under the London Venkys limited which I think owns bstards, perhaps the accountants on here can explain if this is possible or indeed legal.

9100+ home fans on Saturday (950 Swansea away fans) in a crowd of just over 10k.
5250+ crowd last night ... this is the crumbling edifice that is Bollewood no wonder the Venkys losing 440k a week in operating loss.

Never mind ... hey they won (bought) the Premiership nearly 30 years ago you know ... (oh and don't forget the "Full Members Cup" and League Cup) ... all amounts to f'all in the greater scheme of things ...
Lets face it ... their crowds of the late 1990's were made up of disgruntled Citeh Fans who soon deserted them and went back to watch Citeh when the wheels started falling off the Bollewood bus.

Check out the wages to turnover...
Because if so the figures there suggest there must be a pitiful amount of actual adult STHs and walk ons combined.

Yeah, match day includes ticket sales in all forms.
They don't really sell a lot of STs anymore, I think they're on about 6-7k this season.
The rest of the numbers are walk ons and away fans.

I know of a ex-Claret who joined the blue ranks because he was fed up watching Burnley. He later had a season ticket at Wigan. I haven’t seen him for ages but the last I heard he was thinking of buying a season ticket for FC United of Manchester.
I think in all fairness he was more a lover of the game itself than a particular team.
Good luck to him.

Re: Ewood.. Fat lady to sing soon?
Exactly this 100%. We have whilst we retain Premier League status a great opportunity to capture the next East Lancs generation of football lovers.
By example... I coach an under 8s team. The majority of the lads are Burnley fans. Many with a ST, one of the lads dads is a big Blackburn fan. His lad refuses to wear a Blackburn jersey, and repeatedly asks his dad for a Burnley kit, and keeps asking him to take him on the Turf. My team isn't based in Burnley either! These are the fans we need to keep for the next generation.
We should be doing everything we can to get them in and Burnley as their first team.

I suspect like many of us I was introduced to the wonders of TM by an older relative, in my case a couple of my uncles who'd been long time goers, and once you've got them hooked, you can generally keep them for life.
Good luck with your coaching, it's great that people such as yourself are willing to undertake teaching the next generation, and who knows in 15 years time we may even see some of your proteges lining up for Burnley.
