If this is the case then we can rest easy but it's a generous manager giving minutes on the pitch to an ex player when he should be running his eye over trialists/potential signings and U23 players who can be assessed for 'fit' in the first team.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:09 pmAlready been confirmed that he’s training with us to get fit. It’s how Dyche is with his former players.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Hilarious (read sad) that Dyche would rather give minutes to a 34 year old who isn't even our player (yet) over one of his youngsters who need all the game time they can get to improve.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Not if Lennon may be offered a contract, he needs to run the rule over him.
Think some are forgetting the season starts next weekend and we have 2 wingers on our books, and one his Johan Glass Ankles.
It's getting to the stage where anyone who can give us 20 minutes is an upgrade on what we currently have..

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Well! if we don't get at least one right winger in, it's going to be a long season.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:12 pmIt’s well reported we are after 2 wingers. Whether we get them or not is a whole different ball game with how tight funds are and Dyche’s way with transfers.
Yes funds are tight, but we've slashed our wage bill surely by clearing the decks of several fringe players, and we've also raised funds from selling a couple of development players.
We aren't talking about a luxury signing here, we are in dire need of someone to play on the right, JBG can't be relied on for fitness, and Brownhill isn't a natural fit for that role.
So by hook or by crook we simply have to get someone in, failure isn't an option if we're serious about being competitive at this level any more.

To be honest I haven’t read all the threads but picked up that some thought he might be signing. I did initially think it might be Dyche being his usual helpful self allowing him to get fit.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:09 pmAlready been confirmed that he’s training with us to get fit. Is it really any wonder?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:21 pmHilarious to see how many are getting hung up on Lennon playing half an hour today.
We need wide players, our manager has said we need wide players. We are playing a wide player who isn't on our books in a pre season friendly the week before the season starting.
I think that they can be forgiven for it.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
And he probably didn’t want to play JBG for more than an hour, he’s not got the wide players he wants so used Lennon, who has been training with us, for half an hour.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:34 pmIs it really any wonder?

Don’t see any problem with that at all.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
I think we should re sign Chris Eagles, that way Lennon, Eagles and JBG could all chip in together and play a full season between them

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
I dont care how well Dyche treats EX players.
Lennon should have been no where that game today. If and its a big if hes at the club training to get fit.
Young Mancini Gomez plays well enough so far to get the nod today.

Can’t believe the negativity on here. Every man and his dog knows we need a winger with pace. We are breaking the bank to sign one on big wages and you still aren’t happy

I think that Dyche knows what he's doing, so why not leave it up to him?

Loyalty, team spirit, and a sense of group solidarity is one of the main reasons for our success over the last few years. Sean Dyche was very unhappy that Aaron Lennon was released because he contributed significantly to the group as a whole both on and off the pitch. For these reasons alone playing him today was very much a feature of our unique success formula.

I'd be VERY surprised if that happened. Lennon looks increasingly likely and that will surely (sadly) mean no other winger, especially when you take into account his reported wages.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Lennon would be dreadful business. He was poor the first time around. Who on earth wants to see an older version of that. If this happens which I doubt then come back Mike Rigg all is forgiven.

Some ridiculous comments on here.
And for those still worried: NO, Aaron Lennon is not going to re-sign.

Joe Hart has just signed a deal for a quarter of what we paid him, personally I would offer Aaron Lennon a pay when you play 1yr deal
We are struggling to bring in our alleged targets of Lookman and Cornet as we are unable to match other offers/wages

Fair play to Dyche, he knows how to push the buttons of those who never let you down.
Hopefully he signs on a 2 year deal just to witness the meltdown on here.

I'm sure he's looking forward to spending a season being closed down by 2-3 men. Good players need other good players to work around them. We desperately need a player who can make stuff happen to take all the attention away from McNeil.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:39 pmOn the plus side: Dwight McNeil is looking really sharp and not affraid to have a shot.....

Shhhhh you aren't entitled to that information or any communication.ecc wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:23 pmI find the secrecy ridiculous. One minute the club are selling everthing re. friendlies thus giving them, IMHO, exaggerated importance. Next thing they're slapping D-Notices on them until after the match. Surprised we even got a report. For Cadiz it will be "sell, sell, sell".
Crazy and disrespecful to the fans.
(Just my worthless opinion, mind).

Lennon will feel like a new signing
As for someone suggesting it was Junior Bent - more likely, with our age profile, to be Darren Bent
Even Marcus Bent

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
We need a plan D if our efforts to buy a new RW fail. Lennon is obviously getting the eye run over him to see if he can fill the hole as a last resort. We can't afford to go into the season without one, so I can understand the frustration but you have to back the gaffer to do what's needed.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:46 pmI'd be VERY surprised if that happened. This has to be a wind up re: Lennon ? Though he was totally underused when we had him and it was as if he’d been instructs not to attack directly as was often played far too narrow for a winger
