Be surprised if he can increase his wages from the last year he was with us. Him and his agent will know rigid we are on salary caps so I suspect if he was picked that its a done deal

It's hard to imagine a less impressive signing. He was dog turd 2 years ago, God knows how awful he must be now.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:46 pmLennon was over the hill when we signed him first time around...Three and a Half years ago Mind you ,beggars cant be choosers

Lennon played for us today as the trialist

From what I’ve heard he’s been offered that money by teams in the Middle East so we must be matching it or he would have flown straight there instead of coming back here and going through the 2 week hotel quarantine that he’s gone throughHedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:45 pmThink about it, he has no club, he is 34, with what looks like no other Premier League suitors if indeed we are contemplating it. If he signed it would be absolutely nowhere near those figures

Not a bad signing if it happens. Knows the club and the team as well as what’s required. Played every game last season in Turkey so should be fitter than last time…..
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Absolutely horrific signing if it happens and an absolute embarrassment for our recruitment.

Maybe it was exactly what he was listed as - a trialist?
He's available, why not have a look at him to see if he could still do a job?

You have to hope Lennon isn't the limit of our ambitions. Nothing against the bloke but I think he was released at the right time and he's now a year older.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
If we actually resign Lennon we’ve given up even trying to recruit football players to the club. I knew things were bad, but that would signal a white flag.

Its the sort of signing you more readily accept at the very end of the window when you know its the last straw.Mixed feelings-if he joins its going to be circa £40k-£50k a week then its a sad reflection of our recruitment if we cannot find a younger right footed pacey footballer with the chance to play most weeks in the PL

Nope - I've waited a bit and let it sink in but I'm still not getting that buzz of excitement.

Seems very weird you'd give someone half an hour of valuable game time this close to the start of the season unless you're serious about giving them a contract.
I guess we can take it we've sort of given up on recruitment if we do go down this route. Beginning to wonder what's going on now. Exciting times.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
I had no problem with him per se when he was with us, but I had absolutely no problem either when we let him go as he had become a fringe player who seemed well past his best and we needed to move on and up and shop for better. We didn't!! But If indeed he's coming back I'm very disappointed as it looks such a backward step and those rather large wages could be much better spent imo.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Whats not to like, he plays a winger when we only have 2 wingers ( one being Johan glass legs Gudmundsson ) he is only 34, which is a couple of years younger than Ashley Young, cheap, knows the club, whilst he lacks flair, creativity and goals.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:26 pmNope - I've waited a bit and let it sink in but I'm still not getting that buzz of excitement.
If only he could guarantee picking up regular injuries he would be ideal.
I hope we can het this over the line as it seems almost the perfect scenario for all involved.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Not reading anything into Lennon playing today, but if we sign him, I'd like to hope his wages are nowhere near 40-50k a week.warksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:21 pmIts the sort of signing you more readily accept at the very end of the window when you know its the last straw.Mixed feelings-if he joins its going to be circa £40k-£50k a week then its a sad reflection of our recruitment if we cannot find a younger right footed pacey footballer with the chance to play most weeks in the PL
He's the one who's without a club, so he doesn't exactly hold much bargaining power does he.
I suspect he could do a job in the lower leagues, as an experienced head with younger players around him to provide the energy, but in the PL for a team that'll be playing on the back foot most weeks no.

It's a dream signing. Ticks so many boxes that there is now a box shortage.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
There's no way we'll be signing Lennon. We don't sign players from abroad, remember.

The perfect signing, he needed more first team experiance. Should be straight inro the starting line up.

We are desperately short of numbers to play out wide and Lennon would be a good stocking filler has he knows the club. He has bags of experience and isn't short of pace, just end product

Lennon would be better than no one.
Simple fact is players cost too much and Dyche won’t gamble on unknowns.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Surely we’re not re signing Lennon. No disrespect to the lad but he just has no end product anymore. I’d rather see the wages going towards younger fresh legs.

It’s the stuff of nightmares
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
You couldn't make it up. Lennon wasent up to it 2 years ago
This has Dyche written all over it. No balls to go out and sign a young pacey winger.
We are told there is money available. Imagine spunking £40 grand a week on this has been.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Already been confirmed that he’s training with us to get fit. We went through this scenario with David Jones a couple of years ago when he played in pre season.
It’s how Dyche is with his former players.

It’s well reported we are after 2 wingers. Whether we get them or not is a whole different ball game with how tight funds are and Dyche’s way with transfers.
