When the tickets on offer are more than they can afford or wish to pay.
So they could afford £30 but not £35 ?

I am sure you do, but you also seemed to be speaking for others.

If someone had been paying £30 every game they went to for a few seasons and then 1 year it went up to £35 I don't think that is making it unaffordable it's £5 the price of a pint.

If £35 was too dear then there are tickets still available at £30 in different parts of the stands or ground.

Yes I won't pay over 30 pound even when the deal ends.

I took my car for a mini valet this morning, 2 months ago it cost £15, today it was £20. I had the car done because i know they do a good job and deem £20 fair value for the outcome received. With regards to football, you don't know what you're going to get until you've paid your money and the game has taken place, unfortunately on too many occasions I walk off the turf thinking I wouldn't have paid £10 to watch the dross we frequently serve up, and here lies the problem, people in general will be happy to pay increased ticket prices in exchange for a more entertaining product/better players. As it stands we haven't increased the quality of the playing staff, and I'll see on Saturday whether we take on a more entertaining style of football, but even if it's $hite on Saturday, I only paid £10 so can't grumble.
BIG gamble here by Mr Pace, if the playing squad improves on the back of ticket increases, nobody can complain, you get what you pay for, but if the quality doesn't increase along with the prices, there will be way too many empty seats to have made the increases financially viable.

Closing the store to prepare for a kit launch!?

Dressing a mannequin in the kit, popping up some new visuals in the store and logging the stock / barcodes shouldn’t result in the closure of the store.

Most work could be done behind the scenes and the ‘front of house’ stuff done between closing the previous day and opening the next.

It’s perhaps not a huge deal, but it’s not exactly professional. There’s a long way to go for us in a number of off the field areas.
We've got rid of all the staff, budget cuts to pay back the loan and ALK's salary.

Get the feeling on here that the Burnley Oracle is not happy with the new owners Maybe they didn't wave at him as they drove past him outside the turf .Constant moaning about everything

Along with others, I cannot for the life of me think why they have to shut the shop
in order to launch a new kit.

Will they be fighting people off with big sticks in their vain attempt to be the first
to sport the new look around Burnley ?

I can't see Marks and Sparks closing down to stock the new winter clobber.

Why complain about ticket prices if you have a season ticket .If you don't want to pay the prices don't go.The club won't lose any sleep and won't give a **** as long as someone is sitting in the seat, whether they've been a fan for 40 years or its there first game. Its a business.

Similarly Les if people want to complain about the owners and the rising prices they are entitled to that.

I’m sure there will be ques of people to replace a fan of 40 years as you put it

We didn’t even sell out when prices were lower.

What makes you think we will sell out with rising prices and worst product?

Hit the nail on the head really. More expensive, for the same.(unless we pull some rabbits out of hats)

Do people think the new LED boards will drive the fans in?

:D you have to buy something to be a customer.

The big games will sell out due to the amount of plastics/tourists that will attend. For a dreary Monday night TV game against someone like Watford we'll be looking at about 15 thousand on this year. Who in their right mind is going to pay 40 quid for a game like that when you could watch it at home or down the pub?

It’s ironic as there are actually people on this board that have done just that.

But no I have decided not to renew my season ticket and just watch on tv.

Most certainly. I can honestly say the match day routine and supporting Burnley for me hasn’t really changed much in the last 30 odd years apart from the division we are in. Maybe being a consumer for a product passed me by but sure I’m in the minority.

The more I read this messageboard, the more I'm convinced that the most prominent posters haven't segment foot in Turf Moor for years.

I'm also curious as to how/why the Club Shop needs to close to prepare for the kit launch.

Have any other Premier League Clubs needed to close their stores to prepare for the new kit launch - are we unique in this or is it common practice?

It's not a good look. Some might say it's good planning - as someone who worked in retail for some time I'd say it looks the exact opposite of that.

A few championship clubs have including those down the road.

The argument they may have is that apart from bringing the new stock in and merchandising it, is other than the souvenirs and club produced leisure wear they have nothing else would be for sale. All last season’s kit and training wear has been taken off sale, with a lot being sold off to https://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk ... rand=Umbro so therefore possibly wouldn’t sell to much over the course of two days anyway.

No, same at many clubs, some, like Stoke, go back 15 years without an increase. Just wait until next year and watch the early bird prices rocket just as some of the full price season tickets have.

These tight wadded Bob Lord curmudgeons are the type that shop around for the cheapest pint and drive extra miles to save pennies on fuel . Our prices have been remarkably cheap and consistent the last 6-7 yrs ,how on earth can people complain at £35/£40 for a walk on ticket to the worlds most lucrative and valuable sporting franchise ?

Amazing how it's been normalised and some folk have been brainwashed into defending or actively supporting paying £40 to watch Burnley play Brighton on the Turf.

We're so used to tugging our forelocks to big business we can't stop now. Please Mr Millionaire, take some more of my hard earned cash, I know you deserve it because all these other billionaires are charging the same.

His actual comment was champagne tastes on beer money. I get your point and I am also a Bob Lord ST holder, however not a tight wad. Problem is we certainly won’t be offering champagne football after these walk up price increases. More like more of the same dirge we have been serving up for the past two seasons. Perhaps if these American venture capitalists, or should I say short term chancers had provided adequate funds to strengthen our ageing, no strength in depth first team squad then the price increases would be more palatable?

No, same at many clubs, some, like Stoke, go back 15 years without an increase. Just wait until next year and watch the early bird prices rocket just as some of the full price season tickets have.
So they should, we are underpaying at the moment.

It’s about keeping the club afloat and viable in a preposterously and ludicrous wage market that is the premier league . It’s also about what people will pay for “ a couple of hours of “ high end “ entertainment be it a concert/ theatre /show /meal /sports events/massage parlour etc A £400?+ early bird was amazing value .

Worth noting that the entertainment we.may yet be served will maybe be akin to an old handcart burger …but hey it’s the Premier League

Newcastle, i have done the same and not renewed after 30 years because we are underdogs in every game we play both home and away. Yes we may surprise now and again but the continued lack of investment in the playing staff is embarrassing and they still want the same money off us. Be interested what they do if/when we get relegated.

I think this thread just goes to show it not just the club that has a "small club mentality" The champagne stage on lemonade money has run out, and now you must pay the average for the league we are in, which I dont see an issue with. What happened to all those wanting to "eat at the top table" ? I presume you want to eat at the top table with Parkview chippy prices? Seriously come-on guys this was inevitable, and I really do understand this may price quite a lot out of a season ticket or attending, but then the bigger question returns to the floor in a different guise, would you prefer championship football on the money we were paying, or Premiere league football on the average cost for Premiere league football?

If you see it as a ‘product’ then just switch to another one. Everyone’s a winner then.

I'm looking forward to renewing my 3 season tickets at early bird prices next year, with the option of paying by direct debit.,to watch the best footballers in the world at Turf Moor. Those the don't want to pay fair enough, just don't moan about a lack of signings, when you kick off because you got to pay an extra £5 a game

It's easier to stomach paying more if you know the money's going to improve the squad. If it's just going towards servicing the debt our new owners have lumbered us with it leaves a bit of a sour taste.
