Looking forward to this tomorrow night. By all accounts a must watch. Suranne Jones and Martin Compston star in this new BBC drama. The show has been made by World Productions, who were also behind Bodyguard and Line of Duty. BBC 1 at 9.00 p.m.
Let’s hope it lives up to its expectations.

Suranne Jones is a fantastic actress Beddie,come a long way since Coranation St,really looking forward to this one,just hope it's better than the one off thing she was in a couple of weeks ago..that was terrible.

Should be good…. Ignoring the fact there are some good actors in it, it’s based on a submarine, and as you all know there has never been any film or tv programme with a submarine in it that wasn’t worth watching.

Stephen Graham has fast become a national treasure. Outstanding in his profession. I see him holding an Oscar aloft in the future.

There are Subs involved ... isn't that Football related

You’ve just about got time to watch episode 2 on iPlayer before 3 airs tonight.

As for the programme itself - fantastic so far.

Now watching episode 2

First two were very good, although a bit far fetched.

I'm not sure why they need to get Karen off Coronation Street on the sub to investigate when young inspector Morse is already on board.

Like this biggest error, the local police wouldn't enter a military environment to investigate, they have military police for that.

Not entirely true.

The civilian police would absolutely investigate the death of a serviceman unless they were killed in action.

As the story revolves around a suspected drugs overdose which leads to a murder inquiry, it would be the civil police that would investigate.

Only after the military police look at it first then where needed it's handed over the the civil police, but military police always first

Not watched this yet. On record. Does this investigation take place at sea? By definition a submarine is classified under the 'plausible deniability' banner when at sea as nobody is supposed to know exactly where it is.
Can't see civilian plod rocking up investigating a crime on a sub once it left dock. Well, definitely can't see it as they officially don't exist once they leave dock.
There are obvious exceptions as when touring with a carrier strike fleet it's clearly there but doubt they'd get the plod involved, for their own safety as much as anything.

Exactly ... its a TV drama ... far fetched ... but a very good drama

In the 70s I worked for a couple of years for the Judge Advocate General. And I can assure you that we do not live in a military state and as such the Military Police have very limited authority with regard to what they can get involved with. Certainly anything as serious as murder would be beyond their remit.

Look at it this way; all those soldiers in their shiny boots and lovely red tunics marching around Horseguards Parade, not one of those rifles slung over their shoulders are loaded. Not allowed. The Police have the loaded weapons.

Yes that is 1005 correct, I only discovered that fact myself a couple of weeks ago, although I've no doubt there will be armed personnel in the vicinity of such a high profile building, whether in uniform or not.

I was going to comment on the internals having been involved with the build of Astute boats and early work with the Dreadnaught. I’ve also been on Trafalgar and Vanguard subs

Probably best not to as I’ll end up with the MOD knocking at my door

An ex work colleague of mine who lives up in Fife served on Valiant class SSNs as an Electrician ... and as a 6'+ bloke said it was murder not clattering your head moving round the boat ...

Best boats yet ( Astute class ) my last boat was the Superb , built by Vickers in Barrow , BAE now , massive place

I couldn't make up my mind but I thought the external shots of Vigil were actually one of the Astute class. Also found it quite funny that when they were having the funeral service in the torpedo room they had changed the name of the torpedoes from Spearfish to Spear....something else. Weird.

Apparently its been pulled due to factual inaccuracies. They are going to show Mel Gibsons Braveheart this Sunday instead
