Horrendous sad news, so young so much life to live. Hopefully in time his family and friends will come to terms with the loss and as a priest said at a funeral I once attended an important thing to remember is the quality of life lived not necessarily the length.
Hope he is smiling in heaven tomorrow at full time.
RIP fellow claret.

Dave Hartley, is he the dark haired lad from Whalley? Looks south Mediterranean?

Dave was another friend of mine, he was from Clitheroe and yes at his peak you could say he had that sort of look...another Claret gone to soon...its been a shocking year and there have been others outside of the Claret family who have left us way too soon.

Id like to thank everybody for their comments and support, its been a massive comfort for me and many of Matts friends and family at this time.

I could see how people would think he looked Mediterranean once with his dark hair and thick moustache. Dave was a Clitheroe lad but did frequent Whalley pubs often especially in the 1980s

Condolences to his friends and family, and to you Cubanforever

My stepfather passed away a couple of years ago, and I still think of his last Burnley match attended, the last Burnley game he was alive for, the last Burnley goal he saw etc etc

May you find comfort every time you think about these things. RIP CubanClaret

RIP. Never heard of him but he sounds a bit like me and similar age. Burnley have some great supporters who are a credit to the club and a counterbalance to the knuckle draggers and coke heads.

I did propose it once some years ago on the old site. Let’s just say the responses suggested it was not a good idea.

I do like your comment so thanks and Im probably at fault my self for offering my opinion on Tribesmens idea but at the risk of this thread becoming a thread of ideas I would appreciate it if it were kept to messages of support and possibly updates of things to come re Matts rememberance. I include my self in this also....thanks again all for your support, its greatly appreciated.

Through many kind donations we have managed to get a plaque for Matt placed on the Brian Miller bench in the memorial garden at Turf Moor..we'll be unveiling it at around 12:45 this Saturday before the Norwich game.
If any of you wanted to come along please feel free...it would be great to put some faces to usernames.
Thanks all so much once again, its amazing what comfort can be gleaned from a few simple words UTC
