Re: Missing kick off again
Not major or anything but it would be abit better to have the scanners in the turnstile facing towards us rather than where they used to be so the staff can let the gate turn when seeing it’s scanned green to let us in.
It’s a mixture of 2021 and 1921 at the moment.
Would of rather them just go full monty and update the entire turnstile system where you scan a barcode on your ticket/QR Code and the gate does it’s job and allows you access automatically.

I don't think quit is quite the word - the departure of Ms NF Goodenough was not her choosing.

Re: Missing kick off again
Two problems I encountered yesterday
1. People at wrong turnstiles, getting in to be told that. It's not rocket science to actually display outside which stand the turnstiles are for. There is no indication on the Longside whether it is upper or lower tier.
2. The turnstile bloke at the turnstile I used was trying to do bag searches. He was told to get stuffed by the bloke in front of me.

Re: Missing kick off again
Off topic but they’ve still not even managed to put soap in the dispensers in the Bob Lord toilets.
Basics like this shouldn’t need to be raised normally, let alone in the midst of a bloody pandemic when we are all being told to wash our hands.

Re: Missing kick off again
Yes, that post in at present vacant but my query is still be dealt with by another member of staff.
Re: Missing kick off again
The turnstiles for Jimmy Mac lower are 15,16,17,18,19. Doesn't make sense how they have taken the signage off. So if you're in JM upper don't use those.

I’m a little concerned when bags aren’t searched - paticularly when witnessing the confrontation in the Cricketfield stand after the match!

I was told she quit in a huff as she didn’t get a pay rise she thought she deserved.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 9:57 amI don't think quit is quite the word - the departure of Ms NF Goodenough was not her choosing.
Also a number of other staff who we let go were ‘released’ due to, let’s say, them not being able to hold their own water.
Re: Missing kick off again
I noticed about five minutes into the game a lot of people arriving at once in the Longside upper, from my seat in the JML, and assumed it was to do with turnstile confusion.
Suggestions that people arrive earlier are valid to an extent but it really isn’t much to ask that the club clearly signals which turnstiles are for which tier- I would say it’s a minimum requirement.

I was told about a month ago that they were going to get rid of her. I think it is very fair to say that she was far from popular with a lot of staff and I won't even comment on her as the SLO other than to say her departure has not disappointed me.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 6:14 pmI was told she quit in a huff as she didn’t get a pay rise she thought she deserved.

I believe she did kick off over something - but she can always go back to being a doctor's receptionist.

Maybe not told and not by the people who made the decision. She was upsetting a lot of people.
It’s hard to keep up with who’s leaving now, there’s that many.

As much as I agree that it should be indicated what stands they are for, I must be missing something really obvious why people are struggling
The tickets have the turnstile numbers that you need to use on them
The turnstiles are numbered

Re: Missing kick off again
That's the issue. Mine says 35,36 but that limits entry, when there are several alternatives. Those 'obeying' end up in a long queue, when shorter possibilities are available.
There is no indication of Upper/Lower. That is basic and requiring a fix by the club. Huge backward steps.

There’s 3 gates on mine (I think it’s 17-19) so they are never that bad, we sort of just all filter into the shortest queue as we’re moving
Re: Missing kick off again
Some appear to attract long queues and others, much less. Perhaps the allocating machine got stuck, when printing the season tickets!
Re: Missing kick off again
I’ve done what you suggest at the two previous games, joined the (much) shorter queue. On Saturday, though, they were all long queues.IanMcL wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 9:19 pmThat's the issue. Re: Missing kick off again
I had to endure an horrendous M5, M6 journey, not to mention a road closure at Swindon, causing long, long rural diversion and missed the kick off by 3 or 4 mons.
Straight in!

Re: Missing kick off again
As I mentioned above the turnstile system is slower than the previous version, factor in people fannying about with QR codes on their phones and we still managed to have queues leading up to kick off tonight, even with such a low crowd.
The guy in front of me spent well over a minute faffing with his emails to get access.

It's like queuing at a supermarket checkout at times where the person in front of you suddenly realise they have to pay for their items.
Then start searching for their purse/wallet.

In the old days, they reached into their handbag, having packed all their shopping, very neatly. The they rummaged and produced a chequebook. Then they rummaged and eventually found a pen.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:30 pmIt's like queuing at a supermarket checkout at times where the person in front of you suddenly realise they have to pay for their items.

Then they asked how much and who do they make the cheque out to?
Then they neatly write the cheque and sign it and offer the cheque.
By then, there is much fidgeting and murmuring in the now long queue.

Re: Missing kick off again
If your JHU ST says Gate K just use Gate J. Queue is a fraction of the size.
Re: Missing kick off again
The queue I was in last night, entrance K long side upper, was chaotic. Two people were stuck in the turnstile for 3/4 minutes, causing much frustration. The queue then moved forward until the four lads in front of me, who were using a variety of phones and cards and got refused entry. That took another 3/4 minutes. I had a paper ticket, tried that and went straight in. This was about 7.30 so not critical, but the people behind me were getting very restless. A new system should have been fully tested and improve things. This has definitely moved us backwards and needs urgent attention.

The QR code works well - however, last night I had to hand my phone over to the turnstile operator so they could scan it....... surely it would be quicker / easier / more covid safe to have the reader facing out so we can scan our own ??

Re: Missing kick off again
We have been informed by the club that this should not be happening and that card, ticket, phone, whatever you use should not be passed to the turnstile operator. It seems as though they haven't told some turnstile operators.Sutton-Claret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:43 amlast night I had to hand my phone over to the turnstile operator so they could scan it

Re: Missing kick off again
Couldn't get in with my paper ticket last night
Got told to find the match supervisor (which I found, but it wouldn't be easy if it was a full house) and he sorted it as it worked in a different machine
Clearly an issue with the equipment, and I suspect the only short term fix is to arrive earlier
We've already decided to leave the pub ten minutes earlier*
*we only have one anyway due to driving, so its not a real hassale**

Re: Missing kick off again
They have though but it's not got through to some of the turnstile operators.
It's not just us though who are having problems - I was in a meeting two days ago when supporter reps from different Premier League clubs were telling tales of woe at clubs who have introduced e-ticketing. Apparently, at some, they work fine on iPhones but are too slow to react with other phones. There are still long queues every game at Liverpool with a lot of home fans missing kick off again last Saturday. I witnessed that recently at Anfield while we basically were able to get in quickly with paper tickets.
At home games I have no issues personally. I have used my season card for all four games and have scanned it myself although they wanted to take it off me last night. But I'm aware of a lot of problems last Saturday.

I went through turnstile 'A', Bob Lord stand last night - I don't even think Mr Tickle could've manoeuvred his phone through the gap and around to the scanning position.

Re: Missing kick off again
The phone ticketing cannot fail to slow things down. Phones can run out of battery unexpectedly, or go into a reset. What then? Being of a certain age I can also struggle to see my phone at times without reading glasses, which I don’t take on the Turf not least because they discourage bags, and standing outside the Bob Lord in bright sunlight it is almost impossible to see a phone anyway.
Same principle if and when Covid passports are introduced.
If we look at that from the businesses point of view (as opposed to the fan point of view who should make sure they don’t use a phone if they can’t access it quickly) when 20,000 are trying to gain entry, it is inevitable that ‘x’% will have major problems with electronic entry which will slow down the whole queue. I just don’t see that as ever being solvable so these issues will be with us for years to come.

Apparently you just need to get to the ground earlier.
Re: Missing kick off again
The phone signal/WiFi at the ground is dogger at the best of times, what if you can't load up your qr code because of that?

I can't get a signal at all when I'm at the Turf. I have my covid pass ready in my phone wallet should I need it. I'm assuming there is something similar you can do withe QR code tickets, if not there should be.

You are generally able to download them into the phone “wallet”, just like the bank cards are or train/plane tickets. Don’t need any WiFi or data access for that
Failing that, screenshot the code and scan the picture in

Does this review from Rochdale sum us up fairly...
"Fecking tinpot club, thinking they are big in someway....their tannoy boy was even worse than ours, at least we show courtesy towards the opposition. As for the silly little hooligans in the burnley side of the cricket stand, I found them laughable and very embarassing. What a sad set of fans and a bloody awful club to boot"

Re: Missing kick off again
Exactly the point RMutt.
I've have had my seat since the stand (NSU) opened and know exactly what time to get to the ground to have enough time to get through the turnstiles, have a pee (wash my hands of course), get a cup of coffee and be in my seat when the teams come out. I'm sure there are a lot of fans who feel the same way BUT this season has seen a change. Suggesting that fans are arriving too late and they are to blame is utter crap.
