A wonderful track from another artist we don't hear enough from anymore,he has the most relaxing voice, turn the lights down low open a bottle of red and lose yourself in the voice

A fantastic album..the Bewley Brothers and Five Years are quite simply magnificent tracks.RMutt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 8:32 amI’m going for two Bowie songs. I was never really a fan but knew all the hits and one or two others. I was introduced to these by my wife who is a big fan. Bewlay Brothers and Five Years. I know Bowie fans will know them well but going off the fact that I hadn’t Noticed them before I’m assuming others may not have too.

Re: Lesser Known Songs
I nearly went for Point Blank myself when I posted on this thread. Out in the Street is a great live performance song but I think I'd go for Drive All Night, or maybe The Price You Pay, or maybe Wreck on the Highway ...I love side 4 of The River !!bobinho wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:15 amIs there a “beamish” moment going on here that I don’t know about?
“The man who sold the world” by Bowie, and it was covered by LuLu not Cilla, wasn’t it?
Anyway, 11:59 and hanging on the telephone from Blondies parallel lines album…. Best known for heart of glass and Sunday girl.
Out in the street and point blank from Springsteen’s the river, better known for the title track and hungry heart.
Wait and see from Stiff little fingers album nobody’s heroes, better known for the title track and tin soldiers.

"Love of my Life" by Queen. Either Night at the Opera or Day at the Races.

I used to vaguely know Alan civil as I went to school with his son.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 7:23 pmI am a massive Beatles fan and one of my favourite songs of theirs is For No One from the Revolver album. A haunting McArtney melody with a french horn solo played by Alan Civil. A beautiful song.
We had an experiment on a parents day where we measured lung power by blowing in a u-tube half full of mercury. His reading was colossal.
Not sure that would be allowed now!

Re: Lesser Known Songs
Wonderful choice. In the week before my niece’s wedding family and friends were posting wedding songs for them. The day before I sent her this as the truth about marriage. She replied that they had a surprise for me. They are well known Cork musicians and at the ceremony they had a group of other Cork players cover this as it was his fathers favourite Bruce song and he was unable to attend for health reasons. Emotional.

Ronnie Lane's beautiful tribute to an old lady that lived alone near Lane's tumbledown farm in 70s Shropshire. Lane would often visit with Eric Clapton for a pot of tea and words of wisdom.. A truly haunting but genuine portrait of rural life.

Another one for Beatles fans who maybe dont know some of their more obscure stuff is "Words of Love". Its on one of their earlier albums and you can see in McCartney's writing early signs of songs like "Yesterday" and "Hey Jude"

Damn clever that Buddy Holly mimicing Paul McCartney’s writing style all the way back in 1957.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:45 pmAnother one for Beatles fans who maybe dont know some of their more obscure stuff is "Words of Love". It’s one of the songs we had at our wedding back in ‘03. Along with Santana’s ‘Love of my Life’ from the Supernatural album - based on Brahms’ 3rd symphony.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:12 pmWonderful choice. The Jam - “ to be someone” from All Mod Cons album
Covered reasonably by Noel Gallagher
Manfred Man “ what you gonna do” b side of “ do wha diddy” A total dirty bluesy number ,superb
Beatles - Things we said today - ok its fab 4 so not rare -b side to hard days night .
One more - Ringo - “Boys” great fun and worth it alone for George’s solos
