Leicester (a) - General Info

Post by ClaretTony » Thu Sep 09, 2021 5:29 pm

These threads proved to be useful a couple of seasons ago.

This is for the Leicester game and is for posting anything of interest/use for Burnley fans travelling to the game - but not ticket information or away coach travel which have their own threads.

Links to all are now in the restored sticky showing above the general threads.

Get into Leicester around 12:30 on Saturday via train.

Any good suggestions for pubs who let away fans in?

Leicester is normally a bit crap, we have ended up splitting our train tickets and have a stop off in Sheffield for a few hours then getting the 1pm train to Leicester. Avoids getting told which pub you are very kindly allowed to go in by the local police who aren't much better than SYP on a match day.

Last time we went direct there we were put in 1 pub and had to stay there til nearer kick off, can't remember the name of it but it was s**t

Thanks for the heads up. May be worth us stopping in Sheffield for an hour then or just heading the the Wetherspoons in the city centre in Leicester.

I normally go to the Parcel Yard which is right next to the station. Normally a mix of home and away fans. Decent food and drink from what I remember.

Also remember the Distillery being OK with plenty of screens.

I can’t imagine you’ll be able to pay on the day but worth checking. We take them off sale around the Wednesday because of them needing to be posted out.

Not that many years ago you could make a last minute decision but unfortunately not often these days.

Final sales date in person from the Ticket Office is 12 noon on Friday.

There is a pub called the Counting House just a few minutes walk from the ground. Went in there a couple of seasons ago, newish pub which I think was part of a small retail area. There were plenty of screens for live sport, beer was ok and they also do food.
There were quite a few Burnley fans in there.

I would say its around 20-25 minutes walk from the train station, passed the Leicester Tigers stadium on your right and very handy for the Kingpower.

If you put "The Counting House" into google it will show a map which you can use as a walking route from the station.

Pretty sure we went in the Counting House last time we were in Leicester where both sets of supporters mingled freely.

Definitely a convenient pub if you are walking from the station

Parking was a bit of a nightmare last time I went. I ended up parking a long way out across from quite a grand looking secondary school. Lots of permit holders only anywhere near the ground and didn’t see any pay options.

Seen the Hind and the Barley Mow recommended on twitter, as well as the counting house
