Vydra and Dyche fell out a few weeks ago over the shape Vydra returned in after his summer holiday.

Think they are still at the making up point
I was told that allegedly Vydra can do nothing right and is getting bollocked all the time by Dyche.

Not good enough at all, struggle to think of him touching the ball tonight apart from the lay off to the equally as poor Brownhill.

Fairly criminal how he’s still getting starts ahead of Vydra.

I have heard this also. Furthermore in an interview pre season Dyche said " and Vyds decides yo go and get married and have a honeymoon without telling any of us, but that is just like Vyds"

Vydra will never be treated in the same way as Dyche treats others, like Barnes.

I’m sure there are many factors that feed into that, but he’s definitely better off leaving the club when his contract runs out.

We had such a good little spell with Vydra and wood up top, and Vydra looked hungry. Full of running. Full of ideas and clever movement. It was a joy to watch, and makes our attacking play so much less predictable.

Just saying what I have heard, and the result being despite a fantastic run of games last season Vyds gets dropped.

Having favourites and a lack of responsivity to different personalities and characters is not a good sign. Seem to be losing some togetherness and intensity.

The fact that as soon as Barnes is considered for he’s straight back in is one of life’s great mysteries.

I just don’t see what he offers these days.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it - he’s been a great servant for us, but I hate the way we play when he’s in the team and I don’t want him anywhere near the first XI.

I love and respect Ashley for his contribution since he arrived. However time and tactics have left him behind. His positioning for Keane's header was like being at the bus stop but on the wrong side of the street. Its the manager's fault for picking him to start.

He’s so way out of his depth in the Premier League.

Both Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes are 31. Great servants for us, how one was moved on and now playing in the lower leagues and one starts games in the Premier League is baffling.

Positives? Well for starters, Ash wouldn't have chickened out like Wood did in the first half when he failed to score from McNeil's wonderful cross.

To confirm that, it would need AB to miraculously become fast enough and astute enough to reach one of those sort of crosses. AB's been a great servant to the club, but like Big Sam, Martin Patterson and hundred others...his day has now passed :(

There definitely better options for us than Barnes at this time. If he starts again against Arsenal, I will be baffled (but not surprised). It's clear Dyche doesn't like or rate Vydra, even after having a run of games and seemingly also making Wood play better, the first chance Dyche gets and he is bench-warming again.

Genuinely think there is more to the Vydra situation now. Was happy to give the benefit of the doubt last season about why he didn’t feature more, but clearly something is a miss.

It’s beyond dumbfounding why he isn’t starting over Barnes. Wood and Vyds were comprehensively our best front pairing last season. Vydra’s movement, extra pace, working of the channels and just being a general all round nuisance for defenders was the perfect foil to Wood.

Think Wood also went through his strongest period with Vydra next to him. That run of games they had together caused more confusion for opposition defenders, than any front pairing I can remember seeing in the previous 18 months. It also brought a freshness to our attacking play, which was genuinely exciting to see, and something which I think caught the opposition off guard at times. We actually reverted away from our very direct, predictable style which naturally we fall back into when it’s Barnes and Wood together.

Obviously no one knows the true story (weddings, apparently not in shape after summer etc) but it really does make you question what the hell is going on.

Yeah I agree. Still doesn’t make it any less baffling as to why he consistently starts. Barnes has been great for us but he appears to be a spent force at this level.

Ash played well at Everton a real handful and well worth his place. The issue was poor use of subs.Cornet should have been on at 1-0 and Pieters for a very poor Westwood.
That would have given us more steel in midfield
Brownhill also was on of our better players and Dwight fading towards the end also wanted hooking for Vyds
A game lost by poor tactics again tests 3 games now we have not won whilst leading

But Barnes is totally ineffective either way. Absolutely no lint in him being there regardless of the tactics we operate.

Positive - his contract is nearly up.

Been a great servant for us, but he just isnt up to it, as I've said numerous times, any pressure or flow we have tends to break down as soon as he gets involved.
Whether that's him fouling, being fouled or just losing possession.

Think we can all see why we were in the market for a new number 10, it's the next position we need filling and asap, as the other options dont seem to be favoured or good enough either, and unless Mr Dyche is going to change tactics and formation it's going to hinder us.

Absolute rubbish. Do you want to watch this rubbish week in week out? Of course you don't. Again - it's a public forum, surely you expect a range of opinions on here. We all want the very best for the club and people are miserable but thats only because of the passion that we have for this club.
It is amazing that there's only this diverse range of opinions after a defeat. After a win, or a good performance, a tumbleweed blows through the board. After a defeat, then players get singled out. Was Barnes the reason that Burnley lost last night? Was it Barnes who was marking Keane? Was it Barnes who coughed the ball up in midfield for their 2nd? Was it Barnes who left the door unlocked for their 3rd? Was it Barnes who missed the sitter laid back to him by erm... Ashley Barnes? Was it Barnes who missed the header from a brilliant McNeil cross?

He wasn't outstanding, he wasn't terrible, he was ok, but no more than that. Why he deserves his own thread is something I don't understand.

Where did I mention my summer vacation? Somebody who was on training ground at the time of the altercation told me that Dyche laid into Vydra on his return for coming back overweight.

Said person on the training ground also said the managers behaviour was embarrassing

The point is, he wasn’t on his “summer holidays”. He had a 3 week camp with the Czech Republic followed by a major competition that we all saw him in. Then we know he was granted a few extra days because he got married.

Right Chas let’s put it into simple terms. The Czechs got knocked out on 4th July and Vydra returned to training on the 26th so that’s 3 weeks not a couple of days. In that time he got married, went on honeymoon and come back out of shape

Guess you watched a different game to me. Barnes set up our second best chance of the night, which Brownhill struck straight at Pickford. At least Barnes never chickens out, like Wood did from McNeil's fantastic cross.

At least gets himself in positions to score. Think Barnes has lost that ability despite being a striker.
Fair enough about the Brownhill lay off, forgot about that. The only thing he did all game though, still changes nothing. If that is his contribution all game then it ain't near enough. And it hasn't been just last night.

I think you probably forgot about a few other touches as well.

I really don't know why people are so obsessed with Wood though. He did nothing until half way through last season, and he's done nothing so far this. His contribution to the team's effort is minimal, and chickening out of the best chance we created all night last night, is not an option.

Because he scores goals and his average is excellent for a team like us. Without his goals we'd already be down. He's a striker and he gets in positions to score. He might miss some but he certainly scores enough to be worthy his place imo.

Put any other similar striker in the same position as Wood (Barny is usually out wide doing the donkey work.) and they would score at least twice as many as he does with the quality of crosses he gets.

Let's just agree to disagree.

This seasons relaxation of the refereeing has done him no favours.
His main trick was in the Harry Kane book of “how to win a foul”. Refs are wise to that this year and Barnes now wins nothing in the air and isn’t quick enough to be a fox in the box. Leave the aerial stuff to Wood and get a clever, quick striker (Vydra) alongside him.
Barnes should join Bardsley, Stephens, Long, Rodriguez, Lennon, Pieters and Hennessey as experienced back-up players.

That's a very good point. Barney falling at the slightest touch no longer works, but it's the same for everyone now. What Barney does have is the biggest heart at the club, with the possible exception of Mee. I wish Wood was half as gutsy.
